What does the Bible say about Joseph as a figure of Christ?

Answered in 1 source

Joseph in the Bible is a type of Christ, portraying similarities in his suffering and rejection.

The story of Joseph in Genesis reflects many aspects of Christ's life and ministry. Joseph, betrayed by his brothers and sold into slavery, parallels Christ, who was rejected by His own people and sold for thirty pieces of silver. This typology emphasizes how Joseph's experiences foreshadowed the ultimate sacrifice and suffering of Jesus. Just as Joseph was separated from his family and later became a savior figure in Egypt, Christ willingly left heaven to serve humanity and became the source of salvation.
