What does the Bible say about success and failure in relation to God's approval?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that success is not always indicative of God's approval, as temporary triumphs of error can occur for divine purposes.

The Scriptures affirm that success does not serve as a reliable measure of divine approbation. In fact, there are instances, as seen in the crucifixion of Christ, where what appeared to be failure from a human perspective was actually the decisive victory of God over sin and death. God, in His sovereign wisdom, sometimes allows error to flourish temporarily and may permit His truth to be met with adversity. The agents of error may temporarily triumph, which may mislead people into thinking that success indicates divine favor. However, the ultimate measure of truth lies in its nature and the revelation of God's Word, rather than in outward success or failure.
