What does the Bible say about the power of Jesus to save?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible affirms that Jesus has the sole power to save, as He Himself declared, 'I have the power to lay it down and take it again' (John 10:18).

The Scriptures clearly declare that Jesus Christ possesses the power to save His people. As noted in Matthew 27:42, those who crucified Him acknowledged that He saved others but questioned His ability to save Himself, not realizing the truth of His mission. In John 10:18, Jesus states, 'No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again.' This demonstrates that His saving power is not contingent upon human cooperation but is fully effective in itself. Therefore, the natural man, blinded by sin, often underestimates God's power to save, believing that he must contribute to his own salvation.
