What does the Bible say about the victory of Christ?

Answered in 4 sources

The Bible assures us that Christ, referred to as the Lamb, will overcome all enemies and is victorious over sin and false religion.

In Revelation 17:14, we find a powerful declaration of Christ's sovereignty and victory: 'These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings.' This verse illustrates that despite the opposition of the world and false religions, the Lamb of God will ultimately triumph. Throughout scripture, the message of victory through God's grace echoes as a comfort for believers, demonstrating that while the Church may face trials, it shall prevail because Christ has secured that victory through His atoning sacrifice.

The certainty of Christ's triumph stems from His divine sovereignty. As affirmed in various scriptures like Romans 14:9 and Acts 2:36, He holds absolute authority over all creation. This sovereignty gives believers confidence in the promises of God, assuring them that all things work according to His good pleasure, as stated in Psalm 115:3. Therefore, irrespective of earthly struggles, believers are more than conquerors through Him who loves us, as Romans 8:37 assures. The overarching narrative of the gospel is one of victory, emphasizing the ultimate success of Christ against all opposition, including the forces of evil represented by symbols such as Babylon.
