What does the Bible say about the world's hatred towards Christians?

Answered in 4 sources

The Bible teaches that the world will hate Christians because they are not of the world, just as Jesus was not of the world.

In 1 John 3:13, the apostle John instructs believers not to be surprised if the world hates them, for this hatred is a result of their identity in Christ. Jesus Himself warned in John 15:18-19 that if the world hates them, it is because it hated Him first. The world’s animosity towards believers stems from their testimony against the evil works of the world, as seen in John 7:7, where Jesus states, 'The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.' This demonstrates the stark contrast between a believer’s life in Christ, which is rooted in truth and righteousness, and the world’s sinful nature.
