What does the Bible say about what happened in the Garden of Eden?

Answered in 9 sources

The Bible teaches that something drastically affected humanity when Adam sinned in the Garden, resulting in spiritual death for all mankind.

In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve disobeyed God's command, resulting in the entrance of sin into the world. Romans 5:12 states, 'Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned.' This event left a mark on every descendant of Adam, marking us all as sinners by nature and spiritually dead. The fall was not merely a physical death but resulted in a complete separation from the life of God.
