What does the Bible teach about the nature of children?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that children are born with a propensity for sin and must be guided and restrained.

Proverbs describes children as being 'born foolish' and highlights the need for parental guidance to restrain their natural inclinations toward rebellion. Teaching children boundaries and rules fulfills the command to train them up in the way they should go (Proverbs 22:6). Children do not inherently understand authority or consequences and require instruction to navigate their sinful nature. Parents are called to impose boundaries and teach essential life lessons, preventing harm and guiding children toward mature faith and obedience to God.
