What must I do to inherit eternal life?

Eternal life is inherited through faith in Jesus Christ, not by one's own works. As illustrated in Luke 10, when the lawyer asked Jesus what he must do to inherit eternal life, Jesus directed him to the law, revealing the impossibility of keeping it perfectly (Luke 10:26-28). Instead of relying on his merit, the lawyer needed to understand that true salvation comes from casting himself upon Christ and trusting in His finished work. As Paul reminds us in Romans 10:9-10, if we confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved.
