Why do Christians struggle with sin if they are saved?

Answered in 1 source

Christians struggle with sin because they live in a fallen world while having both a sinful nature and a new nature in Christ.

Even though Christians are justified and have the new nature given through their union with Christ, they still contend with the remnants of their sinful nature. This duality is described in Romans 7, where Paul expresses his personal struggle against sin. The presence of the old man, alongside the new man in Christ, creates an ongoing conflict in the believer's life. However, through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, Christians can resist sin and strive for holiness, reflecting their new identity as children of God and emphasizing the importance of relying on God’s grace to overcome temptation.
