Why do we need God's mercy?

Answered in 1 source

We need God's mercy because we recognize our sinfulness and our inability to earn salvation.

God's mercy is central to the believer's experience, as exemplified in Psalm 51, where David pleads for mercy and cleansing from sin. The acknowledgment of our sinful nature reveals the utter dependence we have on God's grace. We do not deserve salvation or the comfort of His presence; rather, we rely on His loving kindness to blot out our transgressions and restore us. This understanding fosters gratitude, humility, and a deeper desire to seek God, knowing that it is His mercy that grants us forgiveness and secures our place within His eternal family.
