Why is Christ important for eternal life?

Answered in 1 source

Christ is essential for eternal life because He is the one who gives it and has accomplished our redemption.

According to John 6:47, 'He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.' Eternal life is not something we earn; it is a gift given by Christ, who earned it through His righteous life and sacrificial death. Moreover, Romans 4 emphasizes that righteousness and forgiveness are obtained by faith in Jesus, demonstrating that our standing before God rests on Christ's merit, not our own. He is the source of life, and apart from Him, we remain spiritually dead.
