Why is Christ referred to as our Surety?

Answered in 2 sources

Christ is our Surety because He takes on the responsibility for our salvation, ensuring we are reconciled to God through His sacrifice.

In the biblical sense, a Surety is one who secures a promise for another, assuming the obligation to fulfill it. Christ fulfills this role by taking upon Himself the burden of our sins and the associated consequences. As described in Genesis 43, Judah's assurance to his father that he would bear responsibility for Benjamin serves as a typological representation of Christ's commitment to us. Christ guarantees our redemption by offering His life as a sacrifice, effectively safeguarding our salvation — a guarantee that He will not fail because He is both willing and able to fulfill this promise.
