Why is Christ's priesthood important for Christians?

Answered in 6 sources

Christ’s priesthood is crucial because He is the sole mediator between God and humanity, offering perfect sacrifices for sin.

The significance of Christ’s priesthood lies in the fact that He fulfills the Old Testament priestly role as the perfect mediator. As noted in Hebrews 13:12, Jesus suffered outside the camp to sanctify His people with His blood, illustrating that His sacrifice is the ultimate means of atonement. Unlike earthly priests who were themselves sinful, Christ is sinless and offers a once-for-all sacrifice that perfects those He sets apart (Hebrews 10:14). This assures believers that they can approach God freely, knowing their High Priest perfectly represents them.
