Why is faith important for receiving God's blessings?

Answered in 3 sources

Faith prompts preparation and expectation for God's blessings, as illustrated in the preparation of trenches in 2 Kings 3.

Faith is integral in the life of a believer, particularly regarding the reception of God's blessings. In 2 Kings 3:16-17, the prophet instructs the kings to dig ditches in faith, illustrating that expectation of God's provision must be coupled with action. Faith also engenders a posture of humility, recognizing our dependence on God for every good gift. Without faith, we may miss the blessings God has in store, as we fail to prepare our hearts and lives to receive them. Believers are called to trust in God's sovereignty and timing, knowing that He will provide abundantly when we prepare faithfully.
