Why is faith in Christ essential for Christians?

Answered in 2 sources

Faith in Christ is essential because it is through Him alone that we receive righteousness and reconciliation with God.

The necessity of faith in Jesus Christ is paramount for every Christian because it is the means through which we are justified before God. As Romans 5:1 states, 'Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.' This highlights that without faith in Christ, one cannot attain righteousness, which is crucial for standing before a holy God. Moreover, salvation is a gift of grace, not a result of our works, to ensure that no one can boast (Ephesians 2:9). Therefore, a believer’s entire relationship with God hinges on the belief that Christ's sacrifice is sufficient for their redemption.
