Why is humility significant in faith?

Answered in 1 source

Humility is significant in faith as it aligns with recognizing our unworthiness before a holy God.

Humility plays a critical role in the life of faith because it fosters a proper understanding of our status before God. The centurion’s approach to Jesus revealed true humility; he acknowledged, 'I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof' (Matthew 8:8). This low opinion of oneself is essential because it places all glory and trust in Jesus’ worthiness instead of our own. The Bible teaches that God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). A humble heart is necessary for coming to God, as it recognizes our need and dependence on His grace.
