Why is it important for Christians not to love the world?

Answered in 2 sources

Not loving the world is crucial for Christians as it aligns them with God's will and fosters true fellowship with Him.

The importance of not loving the world lies in the nature of our relationship with God. As stated in 1 John 2:15, if we love the world, the love of the Father is absent from us. This creates a separation from God, as our affections become directed towards the temporal rather than the eternal. Furthermore, John illustrates that our identity as children of God is characterized by our love for Him and our obedience to His commandments. Loving the world distracts us from pursuing God’s glory and hinders our ability to engage in genuine Christian fellowship and worship. Ultimately, our battles with worldly desires reflect our need to continually reorient our hearts toward Christ, who is our ultimate source of love and strength.
