Why is it important for Christians to acknowledge their need for God's mercy?

Answered in 1 source

Acknowledging our need for God's mercy is vital as it reflects our dependence on His grace and provision.

The Israelites, upon entering Egypt, recognized their status as sojourners and expressed their need for Pharaoh's favor, mirroring how we, as Christians, must come before God acknowledging our dependence on His mercy. Just as the brothers of Joseph sought assistance in a time of famine, we are to humbly confess our spiritual needs before God, recognizing that we are spiritual pilgrims yearning for the heavenly country. This acknowledgment not only demonstrates our reliance on God’s grace but also aligns our hearts to receive His abundant provision, just as the Israelites were given the land of Goshen, which illustrates God's care and sustenance for His people.
