Why is it important for Christians to know Jesus is the Son of God?

For Christians, recognizing Jesus as the Son of God is foundational to their faith and salvation. In John 20:31, it is stated that these things are written so that we may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that through believing we may have life in His name. This belief is essential for experiencing the grace of God and for the assurance of eternal life (John 17:3).
