Why is it important to understand the law's role in salvation?

The law serves a vital purpose in the economy of salvation by revealing God's holiness and our fallen state. It acts as a schoolmaster, teaching us that we cannot achieve righteousness by our efforts (Galatians 3:24). This is essential for understanding the need for a Savior. As mentioned in Romans 3:20, 'by the law is the knowledge of sin.' The law shows us our shortcomings and leads us to cast ourselves upon Christ for mercy.
