Why is it impossible for us to save ourselves?

Answered in 1 source

It is impossible for us to save ourselves because we are inherently sinful and incapable of achieving righteousness on our own (Matthew 19:26).

The idea that we can earn our salvation is fundamentally flawed according to Scripture. Jesus emphasized this truth in Matthew 19:26, where He states, 'With man this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.' Our natural inclination is to uphold our own righteousness, believing we can merit God's favor, but this leads only to failure. It is only through God's sovereign grace and the redemptive work of Christ that we can be saved. Thus, salvation is a divine act that removes the burden of earning righteousness and places it solely on Christ’s accomplished work.
