Why is it impossible to be saved by law and grace together?

Answered in 1 source

Salvation cannot depend on a combination of law and grace; it must be either entirely grace or entirely law.

According to the sermon, it is impossible to be saved by a system that is half law and half grace. The law demands perfection and obedience, and any failure results in condemnation. If salvation were based on the law, one must keep it flawlessly, which no man can do due to inherent sin. Thus, salvation must be wholly by grace, which is God's unmerited favor given through Christ. By relying solely on grace, sinners can rest in the completed work of Christ, who fulfilled the law's requirements and bore the curse for those unable to do so.
