Why is it necessary to be alone with God?

Answered in 1 source

Being alone with God is necessary for true self-discovery and understanding God's nature, which leads to transformation.

The process of being left alone with God, as seen with Jacob, is essential for spiritual growth. It is during these alone times that the veils of self-deception are lifted, enabling individuals to confront their weaknesses and recognize God's sovereignty and grace. As Jacob wrestled with God until dawn, he was forced to confront his identity as a deceiver and understand his desperate need for God's blessing (Genesis 32:26). This confrontation is painful but vital, as it leads to spiritual awakening and reliance on God's providence rather than personal strength. Without these transformative encounters, individuals may remain content in their ignorance, failing to see both their sinfulness and God's redemptive nature.
