Why is it wrong for Christians to take each other to court?

Answered in 3 sources

Christians should not take each other to court because it undermines the Christian witness and unity, and reflects a lack of love and grace.

Taking a fellow believer to court is discouraged in scripture because it not only brings disgrace to the name of Christ but also illustrates deeper issues within the body of believers. Paul argues in 1 Corinthians 6 that such actions reveal a defect in character, signaling a lack of wisdom, love, and grace among Christians. When believers sue one another, they expose their 'family's dirty laundry' to the world and risk damaging the credibility of the gospel. Instead, believers are called to resolve their disputes with a spirit of humility and grace, representing the love of Christ to others. Resolving matters internally is designed to showcase the unity and harmony of the body of Christ instead of resorting to worldly means.
