Why is Jesus called our Cyrus?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus is referred to as our Cyrus because He acts as a deliverer, much like Cyrus delivered Israel from Babylonian captivity.

Cyrus was foretold as a deliverer for Israel, serving as a type of Christ who ultimately delivers His people from the captivity of sin and death. Isaiah 45 shows God anointing Cyrus to accomplish His will, and similarly, Christ, anointed by the Father, came to accomplish the critical task of salvation. Just as Cyrus led His people back to Jerusalem, Jesus brings His people home to eternal life, reinforcing His role as the Good Shepherd and Savior of His flock.
