Why is Jesus' suffering necessary for salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus' suffering is necessary because He must bear the penalty for our sins, fulfilling the demands of God's justice.

According to Luke 9:22, Jesus must suffer many things and be rejected, leading to His crucifixion. His suffering is not mere physical pain but carries the weight of divine judgment against sin. Isaiah 53:10 explains that it pleased the Lord to bruise Him, positioning His agony as a fulfillment of God's redemptive plan. Jesus' suffering was essential for atonement because the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). He must suffer as our substitute to satisfy God's justice and secure our justification, bearing our iniquities and enduring the wrath of God on our behalf. Without His suffering, we would remain in our sins without hope.
