Why is real love important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Real love is essential as it reflects the nature of God's mercy and grace towards the elect.

For Christians, understanding and embodying real love, or charity, is crucial because it reflects the character of God and His dealings with humanity. This love transcends mere human affection and is deeply rooted in the divine act of choosing a people for Himself, as highlighted by the Apostle Paul. The genuineness of our faith and our witness in the world depends upon our ability to express this divine love. A life devoid of this charity is essentially devoid of the gospel, making it imperative for Christians to cultivate this love which cannot fail, aligning with the essence of God's own nature and His plan of redemption for the elect.
