Why is resisting temptation important for Christians?

The necessity of resisting temptation is underscored in the teachings of Jesus and throughout the New Testament. In Matthew 4, Jesus responds to each of Satan's temptations with Scripture, demonstrating how God's Word is essential in the battle against sin. James 4:7 encourages believers to 'submit yourselves, therefore, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.' By doing so, Christians uphold their commitment to live in accordance with God’s will, fostering spiritual growth and deeper reliance on Christ.
