Why is the concept of being unclean important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Understanding our unclean state before God helps us grasp the need for redemption through Christ.

The acknowledgment of being unclean is vital for Christians as it grounds us in the reality of our sinful nature. Isaiah expresses this when he realizes he is a 'man of unclean lips.' This understanding of our depravity leads to a recognition of our desperate need for redemption. It's through the acknowledgment of our spiritual uncleanness that we come to appreciate the work of Christ on the cross—His sacrifice cleanses us from sin. When we see how unclean we are, we are drawn to the grace and mercy that Christ offers, recognizing that only through Him can we be made clean and holy.
