Why is the doctrine of Christ's righteousness important for Christians?

Answered in 3 sources

Christ's righteousness is essential for salvation, serving as the only acceptable basis for believers to stand before God.

The righteousness of Christ is pivotal in the faith of believers as it is the only means by which they can be justified before God. Romans 4:5 states that God justifies the ungodly through faith in Christ, who fulfilled the law on behalf of His people. Without this imputed righteousness, as discussed in Isaiah 64:6, our own works are deemed 'filthy rags.' Therefore, being clothed in Christ's perfect righteousness is vital, assuring believers of their acceptance and security before the throne of grace, as indicated in Revelation 3:5 where Jesus promises not to blot out the names of those who overcome.
