Turn, if you would, to Psalm
24. This is the Psalm of David. The name of the message is the
King of Glory. Now the kingdoms of this world
are limited. They are limited by borders,
of which the kings who reign within those borders, they reign
all the land within those borders, and sometimes you often see maps
of ancient times, and kingdoms are mapped out on the map by
the borders, the land that they had. And the king would reign
over all who were within those borders, and he would reign over
all that land, wherever those borders were. That would be the
king's domain. And some kingdoms of old were
large, and some kingdoms of old were small. But even the largest
kingdom had its borders. With that in mind, let's read
our psalm. The earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof, the
world, and they that dwell therein. For he hath founded it upon the
seas, and established it upon the floods. Who shall ascend
into the hill of the Lord? Or who shall stand in his holy
place? He that hath clean hands and
a pure heart, who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor
sworn deceitfully. he shall receive the blessing
from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation.
This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy
face, O Jacob Selah. Lift up your heads, O ye gates,
and be ye lifted up, ye everlasting doors, and the King of glory
shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the
Lord mighty in battle, Lift up your heads, O ye gates, even
lift them up, ye everlasting doors, and the King of Glory
shall come in. Who is this King of Glory? The
Lord of hosts. He is the King of Glory. See
that? My, what a proclamation, beloved. Now again, kingdoms of old were,
had borders and says, In Esther 1, now it came to pass in the
day of Ahasuerus, this is Ahasuerus which reigned from India unto
Ethiopia, there was his borders, over 107 and 20 provinces. And in Daniel 4.1 the scripture
declares this, Nebuchadnezzar, the king unto all people, nations
and languages that dwell in all the earth, peace be multiplied
to you. Well there it's said that Nebuchadnezzar
ruled unto all people, nations and languages that dwell in all
the earth. And this was not all the people
of the earth, beloved, but this was the people that were under
his domain. Now Christ is a king whose kingdom is unlimited. Our God is a great king whose
kingdom is unlimited. There's no borders. Go where
you will. pass from one country to another
upon this earth, visit different peoples, see different customs,
see different laws, and you can never get beyond the bounds of
Christ's domain. See the universe, go farther
out, all the galaxies, they're all His domain. He is ruler over
all. And like the sky, which covers
all the earth, and the fullness thereof, the world, and all they
that dwell therein, so is Christ's kingdom over all. He rules. He's a great King, beloved. The
earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof, the world and they that
dwell therein. So let's consider this great
King. This great ruler in our text,
Psalm 1, 24 verse 1, The earth is the Lord's, and the fullness
thereof, the world and they that dwell therein. What a proclamation. Now vain man thinks this earth
belongs to them, don't they? They do. I remember hearing a
preacher one time, he was filling up with gas and he was looking
at the mountains and he says, he's gazing over at the mountains
He says, oh, I know who owns them. The attendant said, oh,
you do? You know such and such? And he
goes, no, I don't know him. But I know who owns all that
land. Think of that, beloved. He rules
over it all. We're just tenants here. We're
just tenants. Scripture declares here all the
earth and the fullness of it belongs to God. We know who the
Creator is. It's Jesus Christ. It belongs
to Him. And here we see, with these words
written by the psalmist, by David, who's just a shepherd, he was
wiser than the wisest philosophers that ever lived, when he declared,
the earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof, the world and
they that dwell therein. He declares that the earth is
all the Lord's, because He founded it. It's all His. He's the owner of it. He's the
creator of it. And the more we learn of who
our God is, the more we learn of His works in creation, the
more we learn of His works in redemption, the more we learn
of His works in providence, We must realize and we are taught
by him. We who believe are taught by
him, his infinite wisdom and his almighty power. Our souls
are in the one's hands who has all power, all power. Now, when things that are going
on in this world, we see all these things going on, don't
we? Let peace fill your heart, beloved.
There is one who has all power, and who's over it all, and all
things are working out according to his will, and according to
his purpose, and not one... I was watching them little chickadees
the other day, and it reminded me again, scripture come to mind,
that not even a sparrow falls to the ground. So I see all this
stuff going on in the world and it troubles me sometimes. But I'm constantly reminded that
my God is in full control. Full control. I was pondering
something else too. We saw some stuff happen yesterday
about race and all that, right? Think of this, the world is always
looking for peace, aren't they? They're always looking to bring
people together. Do you know that only in the body of Christ
do we have true peace and unity? We have people from every tribe,
kindred, tongue, and nation, and we have one object of worship.
Isn't that wonderful? Christ. Christ. It's amazing. We have true unity in the body
of Christ. And it's stunning when you think about it, because
we're all different personalities, all different people, but yet
we're united in Christ and in Him. And it's absolutely wonderful. Wonderful. So the more we learn
of who God is and of His wondrous works, and as we read the scriptures
here that speak of the earth is the Lord's and the fullness
of it, it all belongs to Him. Think of this, every piece of
dust. Every piece of dust in this world.
Every molecule. Every atom, you all studied physics
and all that, right? In high school. All, every single
thing, every atom, every molecule, belongs to our great God and
King. And they all consist because of Him. And He's in full control. It's one. It leaves our minds
in awe. And David is here declaring that
the earth is the Lord and the fullness thereof. and they that
dwell therein." They're all His. He can do whatever He pleases
with whomever He pleases. Which makes the mercy that we
have received as believers absolutely incredible. It leaves us in awe. Now included in all its fullness
here is the atmosphere and all the heavens, the stars, the universe,
everything around it, every blade of grass, every plant, every
vegetable, every herb, every shrub, every tree, every beast,
every insect, every fish in the waters, every bird in the skies,
every atom of all God's creation is His. And the man who knows this truth
acknowledges to God Turn, if you would, to Psalm 50. Psalm
50. We give all the acknowledgment
to our great God. Psalm 104.24 says this, O Lord,
how manifold are thy works! In wisdom hast thou made them
all. The earth is full of thy riches. And in Psalm 50 it says this,
in verses 10 to 12, For every beast of the forest is mine.
Every beast of the forest is mine. and the cattle upon a thousand
hills. And that's just a metaphor for
all the cattle. I know all the fowls of the mountains.
Look at that. I know all the fowls of the mountains
and the wild beasts of the field are mine. If I were hungry, I
would not tell. Why? He has need for nothing. He has
all power. For the world is mine, and the
fullness thereof." It's all His, beloved. Back in our text it says, The
earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof. The world and
they that dwell therein. Now the earth here designates
this planet. The world designates its habitable
regions. And every nation and all who
dwell within them belong to the Lord. They're all His. In Acts
chapter 17 it says, And hath made of one blood all nations
of men, for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined
the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation. For in him we live and move,
and have our being, as certain also of your own poets have said,
for we are also his offspring. He owns everything. And in verse 2 says, For he hath
founded it upon the seas and established it upon the floods.
Jehovah is the owner of all creation because he is the creator. He's
the one who made it all. For he hath founded it upon the
seas and established it upon the floods. He's the owner because
he's the creator. He founded this earth on the
seas when he caused the land to appear out of them on the
third day of creation. Turn if you would to Genesis
1 verse 9. Genesis 1 verse 9. Oh my. Actually, let's start in verse
1. In the beginning, God. You can stop right there. In
the beginning, A.W. Pink said, God was perfectly
content dwelling with himself, Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. He didn't have to create anything.
He created to manifest his glory. All this, everything we see,
he created just to manifest his glory. In the beginning, God created
the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form
and void. That's that's the state of us here. And darkness was
upon the face of the deep. That's a picture of an unregenerate
sinner. And then what happens in the
spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters and God said,
let there be light. And there was like born again.
A.W. Pink brings out there's a picture
of being born again by the Holy Spirit of God. It's his work.
And God said, let there be light. And there was light. And God
saw the light. that it was good, and God divided the light from
the darkness, and God called the light day, and the darkness
he called night, and the evening and the morning were the first
day. And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of
the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And
God made the firmament and divided the waters which were under the
firmament from the waters which were above the firmament. And
it was so. And God called the firmament
heaven, and the evening and the morning were the second day.
And God said, let there be waters under the heaven, be gathered
together into one place, and let the dry land appear, and
it was so. Notice, God said, and it was
so. Not a big bang, as foolish men
claim. God spoke, and it was so. Thus, by the word of God, the
heavens of old and the earth standing in the water were made. Foolish men often overlook in
the blindness of heart the things of God. And the fact that it
was by the word of God that all things were created, the heavens
came into existence by the word of God. And God said. Let the water under the heaven
be gathered together into one place and let the dry land appear.
And it was so. So foolish man overlook. And
in the blindness of their hearts. The fact that this world was
created by the word of God. The heavens came into existence
by the word of God. The earth was formed by the word
of God. God created it all, and it remains
so today because God keeps it so. Because He keeps it so. And they also, in the blindness
of their hearts, overlook the fact that God did once destroy
this earth by water. Not totally destroy it, but He
flooded it, didn't He? And the earth was covered by
water, by what? By the command of God, by His
Word. And by His command, that water
was removed. And they have no idea that by
the same Word which created the world, is the same Word which
sustains it and keeps it intact, and is the same Word that will
one day destroy this world in fire. By His command. by His command. It says, for
He hath founded upon the seas and established upon the floods.
Turn, if you would, to Job chapter 38. Do you know that the sea
has boundaries? Look at this in Job 38. He shut
in the sea with doors and said unto it, This far ye may come,
but no further. And here you proud waves must
stop. Job 38. Verses 8 to 11. For who shut up the sea with
doors when it break forth, as if it had issued out of the womb? Shut the sea with doors? When
I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a
swallowing band for it, and break up for my decreed place, and
set bars and doors, and said, Hithro, shalt thou
come but no further? And here shall thy proud waves
be stained at his command. Remember the storm that was raging
and at the command of our Savior. It was like glass. This is the one spoken of in
our text. And think of this, everything
founded and established by men, regardless of their might and
their power, And the supposed glory that they have, it will
soon fall into oblivion. And we see the ruins of ancient
civilizations. You can visit them. But whatever is founded and established
by Jehovah, regardless of how unstable it appears to man, it
is absolutely secure. Matthew says this, Our Master,
and I say unto thee, Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will
build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against
it." So we see the sovereignty of Jehovah, beloved, over the
universe beautifully set forth here by right of creation and
by absolute power which He exercises and which He holds. And all the inhabitants of the
earth are His by this same right. Because He's the Creator, He's
the Maker, no matter how much they deny it. It's true. And we also have the sovereignty
of the kingdom of grace, beloved, but beautifully set forth in
so much as God has created all things by Jesus Christ and He
has redeemed His church and His people by Him. And God has given
Christ power over all flesh, right? That He should give eternal
life. That He should give eternal life
to as many as the Father hath given Him. Look at verse 3. Who shall ascend
unto the hill of the Lord? Or who shall stand in His holy
place? Jehovah's hill is Zion, His holy
mountain, in the city of the great King. We saw this in our
study in Psalm 48. In the psalmist's day, the earthly
city Jerusalem was a type and shadow of the church. As in this
day and in the age to come, it is the church of Christ which
is called Mount Zion. The city of the living God. The
heavenly Jerusalem. Hebrews chapter 12. Turn there
if you would. Hebrews chapter 12. Do you know that every man in
this world has a destination? And every woman in this world
has a destination, every human. They'll either be cast down into
hell or they'll ascend into Jehovah Zion. Only those whom the Lord
saves will be with Him in glory. Hebrews 12, 22 and 23, it says,
But ye are come unto Mount Zion. and unto the city of the living
God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company
of angels, to the general assembly and the church of the firstborn,
which are written in heaven, and to God, the judge of all,
and to the spirits of just men, made perfect. Heavenly Jerusalem. Our text says, or who shall stand
in his holy place? Well, in our own self-righteousness,
none. None. But one may ascend in the churches
made by men and later fall from them, but all who ascend into
the church of Christ are eternally secure, beloved. All who Christ
saves are eternally secure. And let us never forget that
it is Christ who adds to the church. It's Christ who adds
the church in Acts 2 47 and said this Praising God and having
favor with all the people and the Lord added to the church
daily as should be saved So who shall stand in his holy place
those who he adds? Those who he is Because they
were given to him by the father Those who he adds daily to the
church his people his sheep whom he died for on Calvary's cross. They are lively stones. They
are built up in spiritual houses, a holy priesthood to offer up
spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. And they
ever remain in Christ. If Christ saves you, you remain
in Christ. Oh, he'll never lose you. He'll
never lose you. He'll never lose one of his sheep.
He'll never sever a member of his body. If he was to lose his sheep,
it'd be like losing an arm. Oh, he's the head and we're the
body. He'll never divorce his bride.
Never. And all who are in Christ Zion
on earth shall be in the Zion in heaven. All who are in Christ
on earth will be in glory. And who is such person? He's
identified in the next verse as one who has clean hands, a
pure heart, an idle, hatin' soul, and a truth-speakin' mouth. Look
what it says here, though. Verse 4, He that hath clean hands
and a pure heart, who hath not lifted up his soul on the vanity,
nor sworn deceitfully. Well, who is this? Where is the
man that can say, I have made my heart clean? Is there any
here? I've made my heart clean. I am
pure from sin. Is there anyone here that can
say that? None of us can say that, can
we? We're all sinners. We're all sinners. Where shall we look among the
fallen sons of Adam for one to answer this description? There's
none. among the fallen sons of Adam. But there is a man, beloved
of God, whose name is wonderful, and who hath been found worthy,
the Lord Jesus Christ, the God-man, who by himself hath purged the
sins of his people, and is now sat down on the right hand of
the Majesty on high. he it was that had a clean hands
and a pure heart, who hath not lifted up his soul on the vandy,
nor sworn deceitful. And what a sweet hymn is sung
in heaven, what a sweet hymn is sung in heaven to Christ as
a result of what he has done for his people. God's people
sing thou art worthy to take the book and to open the seals
thereof. For thou was slain, thou was slain, and hast redeemed
us. to God by thy blood out of every
kindred and tongue and people and nation, and has made us unto
our God kings and priests. And we shall reign on the earth.
So the only way we can be made clean and have a pure heart is
in Christ. There is no other hope for us.
And the scripture speaks of Jesus and Him alone. Christ alone is the one who it
could be said of has a clean heart or a pure heart and clean
hands. And let us never forget that
we who believe have been purified in the precious blood of the
Lord Jesus Christ. And though we're still yet sinners,
which we are, and we admit it, we are saved. And we are justified
by Christ's perfect righteousness. And let us remember, let us always
remember this too. It's God that creates in us a
clean heart. We can't make ourselves clean.
He creates in us a clean heart and he renews a right spirit
within we who believe and he purifies the heart by faith Which
is led to the blood sprinkling which purges the conscience and
cleanses it from all sin Which leads right into our next verse
he shall receive the blessing from the lord and righteousness
from the god of his salvation so we who have been Washed clean
in the precious blood of christ We have received a blessing from
the lord and righteousness from the God of His salvation. And
note it says, He shall receive the blessing from the Lord. We
must never suppose that what God has done for us in Christ
was ever based upon our own inward and outward holiness, because
we have none in ourselves. But we are made. Now, now, now,
let this just sink into your soul, beloved God. We are made
holy by Christ. Made holy by Christ. By our union
in Him. And because of Him. In Him alone. The unholy are made holy. And this verse here shows us
that in the saints grace reigns. Grace reigns. And grace alone.
Because it is God who has clothed us in the righteous. Look at
it. He shall receive. You've got a whole bunch of people
out in religion saying God's done everything he can. Now the
rest is up to you. But this says that the believer
receives the blessing from the Lord. It's a gift, beloved. It's a gift. And righteousness
from the God of his salvation. That means we have no righteousness.
Except the righteousness of Christ, we who believe. So what does
the true saint wear? He wears the perfect spotless
wedding garment, doesn't he? Of Christ. Of Christ. But he owns that the Lord of
the Feast provided it for him. Remember the prodigal son? Who
gave him the robe? Who gave him the best robe? Which
is the righteous, pictures the righteousness of Christ. Who
gave him the best robe? The Father put it upon him. The
Father gave it to him. And it's amazing, we miss that
little one, the best, the best robe. That's the righteousness
of Christ. The Father placed it upon the
prodigal who had took off and was living a life of sin. Well,
that's a picture of all of us before we're saved. We are lovingly
drawn back to the Father. And there He puts the robe of
righteousness upon us. Christ's perfect, spotless righteousness. Oh, we receive righteousness
from the God of our salvation. And the saints need salvation,
don't we? We need to be saved. We need to be rescued. And they receive righteousness
and the blessing of both. They receive the blessing and
they receive righteousness. And we know that from scripture
that all spiritual blessings are in Christ, which we receive
from Christ. We receive all those spiritual
blessing, justification, sanctification. It goes on and on and on. And
then we receive righteousness from our great God and King.
My. And it's all received. It's all
received. We're mercy beggars. We're beggars. And we do not ascend the hill
of the Lord as givers, but as receivers, as receivers. We do not wear our own merit
or righteousness because it's like filthy rags, but we're clothed
in the perfect, spotless righteousness of Christ, which has been given
to us, given to us. And this is this is pure mercy.
This is a this is This is free grace and the mercy of God on
full display. And it all comes from our great
God in and through the Lord Jesus Christ. So the believer receives a great
blessing from the Lord. He will receive the blessing
from the Lord. Salvation is a gift. Do we earn
it? No. Can we buy it? No. Do we seek it? No. Do we receive
it? Yes, because we're made willing. It's a gift. What do you do when
someone gives you a gift? You receive it, right? But think of this. In our natural
state, we didn't want that gift. But we were made willing. And
because we're born again, remember, we always got to remember this,
what comes first? Faith or regeneration? Religion says faith. The Bible
says, and we believe what the scriptures say, you must be born
again, regeneration, and then you have faith, and then you
have repentance. And I was talking to Norm this
week about repentance. And repentance is a turning to
God. We turn to God. That's what it is, beloved. And
that's why we say we keep repenting, because we keep turning to God,
don't we? All through our walk, all through
our walk, beloved, we just keep turning to him, and he turns
us. We sometimes start going the other way and he turns us
back around. Doesn't he? He does. He does. It's amazing. It's amazing. Oh, what a great
God we have. So salvation is a gift of God
to the people of his choosing in and through the Lord Jesus
Christ. And we are blessed with all, every spiritual blessing,
every spiritual blessing in heavenly places in Christ. We are above
all people, most blessed. We who believe the chosen of
God before the foundation of the world and God having predestinated
them to the adoption of children by Jesus Christ, all according
to the good pleasure of his will, according to the good pleasure
of he who who owns all the earth and the fullness thereof. Oh,
my. And all this has been given to
the believer. And it's all to the praise of
the glory of his grace. And it's all through the Lord
Jesus Christ, and it comes to us who believe we, his people,
it comes to us in and through Christ alone. Because the believer
has redemption and the forgiveness of sins. And justification and
all the precious truths through Christ, because he's our wisdom,
our righteousness, our sanctification, he's everything to us. And it's
all being given to the believer. He shall receive the blessing.
It's all being given to the believer and the believer says glory to
his name. Because I never would have thought. Oh, what a blessing has been
given to the believer. They are receivers of God's grace
and mercy. All according to God's wisdom.
All according to God's grace. and a result of God's mercy to
His people in and through Christ. He has made known the mystery
of His will to His people, to those spoken of in our text,
all according to His good pleasure, which He has purposed in Himself.
And what a great blessing, again, the believer has received in
and through Christ Jesus our Lord. Look at verse 5. He shall
receive the blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the
God of His salvation. He shall receive the blessing
from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation.
So let us ponder the truth that all whom the Lord saves. He teaches
the truth of this wonderful verse that we have received by God's
grace and through faith in Christ Jesus, our Lord. We've not earned
it by our merit because there's nothing we could earn. There's
nothing in us. This is free grace, pure free
grace, beloved. Mercy, mercy. You who believe can sit here
and say, I have received, I obtained mercy. I received this from the
Lord. And we just marvel in that. Think of this, what a gracious
God we serve. What a glorious God we serve. He shall receive the blessing
from the Lord and righteousness from the God of salvation. And
righteousness, it says here, and righteousness from the God
of salvation. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus,
who of God is made unto us wisdom and righteousness, sanctification
and redemption, that as it is written, he that glorieth, let
him glory in the Lord. We've received this. And the one who is spoken of
in our text in verse 5 is the receiver of God's righteousness. It's the believer in Christ.
The one who will forsake all personal righteousness, right?
Have we not cast aside all our personal righteousness? Have
we not been shown that all our personal righteousness is nothing
before God? Filthy before God? We forsake all our personal righteousness
in order to be found in the righteousness of Christ alone. And we speak
of Christ's righteousness alone as our justification before God. Turn, if you would, to Psalm
71. Psalm 71, beloved. Look at this. Now, we proclaim
the righteousness of Christ as our righteousness. We admit we
have no righteousness that we can stand before God and in ourselves. And look at Psalm 71 verses 15
and 16. My mouth shall show forth thy
righteousness. We proclaim Christ and his righteousness
and thy salvation. Where's our righteousness and
our salvation found? In Christ. My mouth shall show
forth thy righteousness and thy salvation. all the day, for I
know not the numbers thereof. I will go in the strength of
the Lord. I will make mention of Thy righteousness, even of
Thine what? Only. Is that not true of every
believer? We make mention of His righteousness
and His righteousness alone. Because God has shown us that
our, again, we're all sinners. It's amazing. And we proclaim
His righteousness alone. And the one who's spoken of in
our text, the receiver of God's righteousness, is the one who
acknowledges that all our righteousness are like filthy rags in the eyes
of the Lord. So none will be found in Zion
but those who are clothed in the perfect, spotless righteousness
of Christ. And they will boast in him. And
they will sing praises to him for what he's done for us. Look at verse 6. This is the
generation of them that seek Him, that seek Thy face, O Jacob. Jacob is the name given by Christ
to His people. Turn, if you would, to Isaiah
44. Isaiah 44. Jacob is the name given by Christ
to His people. Those whom He has chosen, created,
formed, redeemed, called, owned, and preserved. Look at this in
Isaiah 44. And then we'll go back to our
Psalm 24 and look at verses 7 to 10. Isaiah 44 verses 1 verse 1. Yet here now, Jacob, my servant
in Israel, whom I have chosen, turn one chapter over to verse
43. So in 44, it says here now, Jacob,
my servant in Israel, whom I have chosen, and then look at verses
one of Isaiah 43. But now, thus saith the Lord
that created thee. He's our creator. Oh, Jacob, he that formed thee.
He formed us in the womb. O Israel, fear not, for I have
redeemed thee. I have called thee by thy name.
Thou art mine. Oh, this speaks of His people. And they therefore shall be in
every age and generation, those that seek Christ, those who are
made willing, those who are made by Him fit to stand in His holy
presence. Turn, if you would, again to
Psalm 24. We'll look at the last four verses. Psalm 24, verses 7 to 10. Lift up your heads, O ye gates,
and lift up ye everlasting doors, and the King of glory shall come
in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the
Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O ye gates,
even lift them up, ye everlasting doors, and the King of Glory
shall come in. Who is this King of Glory? The
Lord of hosts. He is the King of Glory, Selah. Lo, his triumphal chariot waits,
and angels chant the solemn lay. Lift up your heads, ye heavenly
gates, ye everlasting doors give way. The Lord Jesus Christ is
the King of Glory, beloved. Oh, He's the King Eternal. Who is this King of Glory? This
is a fair question from those who have never heard of Him.
And here is the answer. The Lord is strong and mighty. The Lord is mighty in battle. Christ is Jehovah. Jehovah. strong and mighty. Why? Because
He's the mighty God. He's the mighty God. Christ is
Jehovah, strong and mighty because He is the mighty God with a mighty
arm and a strong hand. Scripture declares, Thou hast
a mighty arm, strong is Thy hand, and high in Thy right hand. And Christ Jehovah is strong
and mighty because He is the one who is glorious in power. Scripture again declares, Thy
right hand, O Lord, has become glorious in power. Thy right
hand, O Lord, hath dashed in pieces the enemy. All who've
come against Him have been dashed to pieces. And Christ is Jehovah,
strong and mighty, because He is the one who it is said, There
is nothing too hard for you. Scripture says in Jeremiah 32.17,
Our Lord God, behold, Thou hast made the heaven and the earth
by Thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing
too hard for Thee. Oh, He's Jehovah strong in my
people. Because He is the One who proves
Himself mighty in battle by conquering all His foes. All His foes. He defeats them all. Turn if you would to Colossians
chapter 2. Colossians chapter 2. Verse 13. Paul's writing to the Colossians,
and he says this wonderful statement in these verses, by inspiration
of the Holy Spirit of God. And you being dead in your sins
in the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together
with him, heaven forgiving you, A-L-L. All trespasses. What a wonderful
little word. All trespasses. blotting out
the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was
contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to His
cross. And here our Lord, strong and mighty in battle, it says
of Him, in heaven spoiled, Prince of powers and powers, He made
a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it." Oh, He's the
Lord. Strong and mighty in battle,
beloved. Strong and mighty. And the king of glory enters
in triumphant. Look at verse 10. Who is this
king of glory? The Lord of hosts. He is the
king of glory. He is the same as he was yesterday. He's the same as he was today,
and he is the same forever. yesterday, today and forever.
He is the Lord Jesus Christ, Jehovah, Lord of man and angels,
Lord and head of the church, the risen King of glory, our
ascended Savior. He is the King of glory, and
then the psalm ends with Selah. Pause. Consider. He is Jehovah, Lord,
King of kings and Lord of lords. And under His command are all
the hosts of heaven, and earth, and angels, and men, and all
other creatures, and every atom, and every molecule is under His
command. Pause. Consider. Think about what we have considered
today. Oh, may God be pleased to reveal
Christ to you if you do not know Him. And may we who are redeemed
rejoice that this is our Savior, the King of glory, mighty and What a Savior! Heavenly Father,
we come before Thee in awe of the power You have, the absolute
power and control over all things. We who believe, we who have been
redeemed and regenerated and born again of the Holy Spirit
are so thankful that You didn't leave us where we were in the
blindness of our hearts and minds. We were enemies with thee in
our hearts and minds, but yet you still loved us, your people,
and you've loved us with an everlasting love. And Lord Jesus, you went to Calvary and paid all that God's law demanded,
all that your law demanded, and all that your justice demanded
for your people. Oh, Lord. the King of Glory Himself,
the believer can say, has redeemed my soul. All praise and glory
and honor to Thee, in Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
