Why is the work of the Holy Spirit essential for salvation?

Answered in 4 sources

The Holy Spirit's work is essential for salvation because He quickens dead sinners and reveals the truth about Christ to them.

The Holy Spirit plays an indispensable role in the salvific process. According to John 6:63, it is the Spirit that gives life, highlighting that without His work, no one can be regenerated. Ephesians 2:1 reinforces this by stating that we are quickened by the Holy Spirit, who makes us alive in Christ. Furthermore, the Spirit convicts us of sin and leads us to recognize our need for Christ's righteousness, as described in John 16:8. Thus, the Holy Spirit not only initiates our salvation but continuously aids in our understanding and relationship with Jesus.
