This trust helps to eliminate the burden of self-reliance, allowing the believer to rest in the sufficiency and completeness of Christ's sacrifice. Anything less risks converting the Holy Spirit's illuminating work into an atoning work of its own, which is both misleading and dishonoring to Christ.
