Why is witnessing important for Christians?

Answered in 12 sources

Witnessing is vital as it involves sharing the transformative message of Christ with others, although it is the Holy Spirit who changes hearts.

Witnessing serves as a means for Christians to share their faith, essentially acting as one beggar telling another where to find bread. However, the sermon makes it clear that witnessing alone does not save; it is the Holy Spirit's work that brings about genuine conversion. While it is necessary for Christians to communicate the Gospel, the sermon warns against placing the burden of conversion on methods of witnessing. Instead, it emphasizes that witnessing is about directing others to Christ, who alone has the power to save. Salvation is ultimately the work of the Lord, and our role is simply to testify to His grace and mercy.
