Why should Christians avoid boasting?

Boasting is a common sin of the tongue, deeply rooted in pride, which the Bible warns against. According to James 3:5-6, boasting elevates one's self and reflects a lack of control over one's spirit, which contradicts the humility that should characterize a believer. Proverbs 14:3 states that a fool's talk brings strife, indicating the turmoil that arises from prideful speech. Instead of exalting oneself, Christians are called to recognize their humble position before God, as true grace humbles, whereas false grace inflates one's ego.
