Kingsport Sovereign Grace Church,
located at 905 Yadkin Street in Kingsport, Tennessee, would
like to invite you to listen to a message of sovereign grace
by their pastor, Gabe Stoniker. And now, Pastor Gabe Stoniker. I would like to bring a message
to you today from the book of 2 Corinthians chapter 1. 2 Corinthians
chapter 1. And let's read one verse of scripture
together. 2 Corinthians 1, verse 20. It says, for all the promises
of God in him are yea, and in him, amen, unto the glory of
God by us. All the promises of God In him
are yea, and in him amen. Unto the glory of God by us.
Now let's begin by taking notice of a couple of things here. He
tells us, number one, he tells us where all of the promises
of God are. All of the promises of God, they
are in him. They're in Him. He tells us that
twice. He said all the promises of God in Him are yea and in
Him. Amen. So He told us that twice. Now, who is Him? He said they are in Him. That's where they are, they're
in Him. Who is Him? If you look at verse
19, it says, for the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached
among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus was not
yea and nay, but in him was yea. All of the promises of God are
in the Lord Jesus Christ. All the promises of God, they
are to the Lord Jesus Christ and they are in the Lord Jesus
Christ. and they are to all those who
the Father places in the Lord Jesus Christ, all of them. Outside of the Lord Jesus Christ,
there are one of two locations that any sinner can be found
on the day of judgment, in Christ or out of Christ. And outside
of Christ, God makes no promises of blessing to man, not one. Not one. There are some promises
outside of Christ. There are some promises and they
are yay and amen too. They are going to be fulfilled
too. Most definitely. Will the promises
that God has made to sinners outside of Christ come to pass?
Those promises of destruction, promises of judgment, Promises
of wrath. Promises of an eternal torment
of fire. That's the promise God has made
outside of Christ. Will all of those promises outside
of Christ, will they come to pass too? Here's the answer.
Yes, and so be it. Yay and amen. There are plenty
of promises to those who are outside of Christ. but they're
not promises of blessing. Not at all. They are promises
of condemnation. But for this message, I don't
want to dwell on those promises. I don't want to dwell on any
of those promises. They exist and there are plenty
of them, but I don't want to dwell on those promises in this
message. What I want to dwell on is the
promises that are in Christ. I want to take our time to really
look at and dwell on some of the promises that God has made
to all those that He has sovereignly placed in Him, in the Lord Jesus
Christ. Verse 20 says, for all the promises
of God in Him are yea, and in him, amen, unto the glory of
God by us. Now yea and amen means yes and
so be it. That's what it means. Whatever
God says, that's the way it is. Whatever God says, that's the
way it is. Yes, and so be it. If God says
it in his word, then it's yes and yes. It's not yes and no. And this is something that I
pray we might really get a hold of. Nothing that God has to say
in his word is yes and no. All of it is yes and yes. Yay and amen. where man has gone
wrong in religion today. I'm sure you know that a large
portion of religion has erred from the truth of God's word
and where man has gone wrong, that error of man's false religion. And this is how you can tell
if you're listening to false religion, if you're listening
to a false message. If you listen to a man preach
and you are wondering, is this the truth? Is this a lie? Here's
how you can tell. If a man stands up and brings
a yes and no message, it's a false message. It's a message of lies. It's a message of error, a yes
and no message. Here's an example of a yes and
no message, okay? Ask a preacher, ask a preacher,
a man who's gonna stand up and preach God's word, ask this question.
Is Christ enough? Is Christ enough? Is Christ all? I mean, when you get to the bottom
line here, is Christ all? Is he all that God requires? Is he all that we need? Is Christ truly enough? If that preacher says, well,
yes and no. Well, yes and no. Yeah, he did
the work, but it's really more of a cooperation between the
two of you. If he says that, that's a message
of lies. That's a false religion. That's a false message. Hebrews 1 says, he, speaking
of Christ, by himself purged our sins. By himself. on the cross of Calvary, through
the shedding of His own blood, purged our sins. He by Himself
purged our sins. All right, so then ask this question.
Is the blood of Christ sufficient, the blood He shed on Calvary,
is that blood sufficient to put away all of my sin? and I wanna emphasize all of
my sin, all of it. If he says, well, yes and no, that blood that he shed put away
your past sins, but now you're gonna have to put away your present
sins and your future sins, which that's a common message today.
If a man says that, that's a message of lies. That's a false religion,
that's a false preacher. Ask this question, point blank,
is salvation finished? Ask this, point blank, face to
face, just tell me the truth. Is salvation finished? If a man says, well, yes and
no, Yes and no. Christ saved you. Has Christ
saved me? Is salvation finished? Oh yeah,
Christ saved you. Yeah, absolutely. Christ saved
you, but you're also gonna have to save yourself. Yes, He saved
you, but now you have to save yourself too. Christ finished
the work. Did Christ finish the work? Oh
yeah, you better believe. Christ finished the work, but
now you're gonna have to finish it too. If he says that, if a man says
that, that's a yes and no message. Do you see that? Do you hear
that? That is a yes and no message. That's a message of lies. It's
a message of false hope. That's a false religion. Verse 20 says, for all the promises
of God in him are yea. and in him, amen unto the glory
of God by us. Paul said our message was not
yay and nay. It was not, well, yes and no,
uh-uh. It was yay and amen. Now here's
what I'd like to do for the rest of our time in this message.
I would like for us to read just some of the promises of God to
His people from His Word. There are so many, there are
so many. We could spend eternity dwelling
on the promises of God to His people, but I just want us to
take a few of them. Just look at a few of them. And
I want us to read these promises, believing in our hearts that
they are yea and amen. Yes and yes. Let's read what
God has written and believe this is so. Yay and amen. The scripture
says, Abraham staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief,
but was strong in faith, giving glory to God, being fully persuaded
that what he had promised, he was able also to perform. What that means is Abraham believed. If he said it, then it was yea
and amen. That's what it means. Yes, and
so be it. May God give us that same belief.
I pray that for us right now. Pray God might give that to me
and God might give that to you, that same heart of faith. Now, what promises has God given
us in his word? Well, turn with me, if you would,
to Matthew chapter one. Over in Matthew 1, verse 21,
it says, And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call
his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins. He said, he shall save. That's a promise. That is a promise. He did not say he is going to
try to save. It's not what the word says.
He did not say he was going to put an offer of salvation out
there to see if anyone may be interested in it. That's not
what the word says. He did not say that he would
save as long as his people accept him and accept his salvation. That's not what the word says.
He did not say, if you will first open your heart's door, then
after you do that, he will come in and say, that's not what it
says. He said, he shall save his people from their sins, no
ifs, ands, or buts about it, period. No conditions. No conditions. He shall save.
John cried, behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin
of the world. Thank God, not just the Jews
only, the Jews and the Gentiles. Gonna have mercy on his people
scattered abroad the entire world. Go back to the Old Testament
with me for a minute. Over in Isaiah 53, every time
that we see the word shall, we just read he shall save his people.
Every time we see that word shall, that's a promise. That's a promise. In Isaiah 53 verse 10, It says, yet it pleased the Lord
to bruise him. Pleased the Father to bruise
Christ. He hath put him to grief. When thou shalt make his soul
an offering for sin, he shall see his seed. He shall prolong
his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his
hand. he shall see the travail of his
soul." God the Father shall see the travail of his own son's
soul. And it goes on to say, by his
knowledge, he shall, shall my righteous servant justify many
for he shall bear their iniquities. shall God, the father shall see
the travail of his own son's soul. That's a promise. That's
what God, the father promised for his people. Did Christ accomplished
that? Did he accomplish what the father
promised all of it for his people? Here's the answer. Yay. And amen. Yea and amen. He'll see the travail
of his soul and he shall be satisfied. Was he satisfied? Yea and amen. Absolutely. The answer is not,
well, yes and no. Yea and amen. Look right here
at verse four, Isaiah 53 verse four. It says, surely he hath
borne our griefs and carried our sorrows, yet we did esteem
him stricken, smitten of God and afflicted. but he was wounded
for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement of our peace
was upon him and with his stripes, we are healed. Yes, and so be
it. Yay and amen. Turn with me over
to John chapter six. Over in John six, verse 37 says, All that the father giveth me
shall come to me. Shall come to me. The gospel
of God's word and God's spirit. And this is so important for
us to know the gospel of God's word and God's spirit through
the preaching of the word. They never beg anybody to come
to Christ. Have you ever seen men stand
up in pulpits just begging people, won't y'all please come to Christ?
Now it's up to you now, y'all are gonna have to make your decision,
you need to come to Christ. Please, begging God's word, God's
spirit, God's messengers, never beg anyone to come to Christ,
never. The Lord our God said, Jesus
Christ said, all that the Father giveth me shall come to me. shall come to me." That's a promise. That's a promise. That's a command. And that's an encouraging promise.
He said, and him that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast
out. That's beautiful, isn't it? That's
a promise. All that the father giveth me
shall come to me. and him that cometh to me, I
will in no wise cast out. That's a promise. Verse 38 says,
for I came down from heaven not to do mine own will, but the
will of him that sent me. And this is the father's will
which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me, I should
lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. Verse 44, he said, no man can
come to me except the father which hath sent me draw him,
and I will. raise him up at the last day. That's a promise. That's a promise. That is a yay and amen promise. Look with me at John 10. John
10, verse 14. He said, I am the good shepherd
and know my sheep and am known of mine. As the father knoweth
me, even so know I the father and I lay down my life for the
sheep. Verse 27 right here says, my
sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. And
I give unto them eternal life. And they shall never perish,
neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. Do you know that
that promise is yay and amen? Yay and amen. In John 17, verse
one, our Lord said, These words spake Jesus and lifted up his
eyes to heaven and said, Father, the hour is come. Glorify thy
son that thy son also may glorify thee. As thou hast given him
power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life. to
as many as thou hast given him. And this is life eternal, that
they might know thee the only true God in Jesus Christ, whom
thou hast sent. I have glorified thee on the
earth. I have finished the work which
thou gavest me to do." What was the work? It was the work of
accomplishing eternal life for his people. In chapter 19, he
cried, it is finished. And he bowed his head and he
gave up the ghost. Is salvation truly finished?
Is the salvation of the people of God truly finished? Here's the answer, yea and amen. Yea and amen. Look with me at
Ephesians chapter one, In Ephesians 1 verse 2 says, grace be to you
and peace from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who
hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places
in Christ, in Him. According as He hath chosen us
in Him before the foundation of the world. Did God really choose us? Did
God really choose His people in Christ? Yea and amen. Yea and amen. That's not a well,
yes and no. Yea and amen. May God give us
the same faith He gave to Abraham to believe what God has written. Yea and amen. Verse four says,
according as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation
of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before
Him in love. Are we really holy and without
blame before Him? Here's the answer. In Christ,
in Him, yea and amen. Outside of Christ, I know what
I am. I know what you are. And it's not holy and without
blame, it's sin and wretched misery. But do you know what
God's word says? In Christ that's exactly what
we are and it's yea and amen. Verse five says, having predestinated
us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself according
to the good pleasure of his will. Has he truly predestinated us
to be members of his own family, adopted members of his own family? Here's the answer. In Christ?
All because we were found in Christ, because he placed us
in Christ? Yay and amen. Verse six, it says,
to the praise of the glory of His grace, wherein He hath made
us accepted in the Beloved. Are we really accepted in the
Beloved? Christ the Beloved? Yay and amen. in Him, yea and amen. Verse seven
says, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness
of sins according to the riches of His grace. Are we truly redeemed? That means paid for, paid for
in full, completely redeemed. Are we truly forgiven? and reinstated
by that blood that was shed for us? Here's the answer. In Christ,
yea and amen. Yea and amen. He goes down to
tell all of the things that he's gonna do. He said in verse 12,
that we should be to the praise of his glory who first trusted
in Christ, in whom you also trusted. After that, you heard the word
of truth, the gospel of your salvation, in whom also after
that you believed. You were sealed with that Holy
Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance until
the redemption of the purchased possession unto the praise of
His glory. Is He truly coming to gather
us again? Coming back to gather His people
and give us an inheritance? Have we honestly been sealed
by His Spirit? Here's the answer, in Christ.
Yay and amen. The end of chapter two, verse
five says, by grace, you are saved. No buts about it. First
Thessalonians 4 says, The Lord Himself shall descend from heaven
with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the
trump of God, and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we which are alive and remain
shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the
Lord in the air, and so shall we ever be with the Lord. That's
a promise. Hebrews 10 says, every priest
standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same
sacrifices which can never take away sins. But this man, after
he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on
the right hand of God. So he said, this is the covenant
that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I
will put my laws into their hearts. and in their minds will I write
them, and their sins and iniquities will I remember no more." That's
a promise. That's a promise. 1 John 2 says,
my little children, these things write I unto you that you sin
not, and if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father,
Jesus Christ the righteous. That's a promise. First John
three says, beloved, now are we the sons of God and it doth
not yet appear what we shall be, but we know that when he
shall appear, we shall be like him for we shall see him as he
is. That's a promise. First John
five says, he that hath the son hath life. That's a promise. That's a promise. One more last
one. Revelation 22 verse 20. It says, he which testify of
these things sayeth, surely I come quickly. Surely I come quickly. He said, I am coming back quickly. I'm coming back to gather my
purchased possession quickly. That's a promise. That's a promise. And what's our response to that
promise? He went on right there to say, amen. Yay and amen. He said, even so
come Lord Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ
be with you all. Amen. You have been listening
