Go with me, if you would, back
to Revelation 22. Revelation 22. The outline of
Scripture. The outline of the Scripture.
What we find everywhere is Mankind, all men, women, boys,
girls. All of mankind, and I wish this
was not so, I wish this was not the truth that must be told.
Don't we wish this was not the case? But mankind is completely
ruined. Completely, completely sinful. It says that everywhere. We cannot turn anywhere and not
find that. Not partly sinful. And this is why it's so important.
All of mankind is not partly sinful. And all of mankind is not mostly
sinful. Totally ruined. Totally ruined. Completely eaten up with sin. Completely. Somebody is going
to hear that and say, I don't look totally ruined to me. Unfortunately, God says that
we look ruined to him. And God says that we are ruined
to him. But the outline of scripture
goes on to say that God chose to save some of us ruined sinners. He elected a people to bring
them out of ruin. and restore them back to a perfect
state. When God made the first man and
woman, He said, they are good. Can that be said of a man now?
None good. And He purposed to reinstate
them to that perfection. The only way that was possible
was through the death of God's Son. One way. Only one way. The law said, and
God is holy and just and right, He must be in agreement with
the law. And the law said the wages of
sin is death. And the only way these elected ruined sinners
could be redeemed was if the law was satisfied. So God the Father made God the
Son to be the deliverer of those people
that he chose by trading places with them. Christ became the atonement. That means the bloody victim. We were supposed to be, according
to the law, we had to be bloody victims. Kill them. So Christ
became the bloody victim. He became the slain sacrifice
for sin. And when He did that, He redeemed
all of those particularly chosen people, back
to God. He made them the righteousness
of God. He became their sin and they
became His righteousness. That entire transaction is called
grace. It's called grace. God's people were
saved by grace. Salvation is not something that
they took part in. It's something that happened
to them. They were not offered the option
to accept it or reject it. It was irresistibly given. All dead. But God chose. Christ atoned. It was all irresistibly
given. Sovereignly bestowed. In the
same way that all of His people had no part in their physical
birth. Not one person here got the option
to accept or reject physical birth. Not one person was given
that option. They were notified of it later.
In that same way, all of God's people took no part in their
spiritual birth. They were just notified of it
later and this is what they were notified of. This is the notification
of Scripture. It's done. The great transaction
is done. You are your Lord's and He is
yours. What God has done is forever. It can't be undone. It cannot
be changed. If Christ saved you on that cross,
He'll save you all the way to the end. All the way to the end. His faithfulness will keep you. You will not be able to lose
it. You will not be able to ruin it. You will not be able to reject
it. If He saved you, you're saved. That's the outline of every scripture
in God's Word. Every single one. That is God's
outline. People attribute it to a man. And I'm not even going to say
his name. We all know his name. That's
God's outline. That's God's outline. I would like for us to see that
outline in our text, okay? Our text is Revelation 22, look
at the end of verse 17. Whosoever will, let him take
the water of life freely. That's God's outline. That's God's outline. That's
the message this morning. Whosoever will. Let him take
the water of life freely. Let's start with the word whosoever. That word is in the scripture
over one hundred and eighty times. I believe it's one hundred and
eighty three times if I counted right. but it's in there over
180 times, and everything that our God has said concerning whosoever
will hold true. Not one of those 183 times will
fail. Not one of them. When He says,
whosoever does this, or whosoever does that, Everything he said in regard
to that whosoever will hold true. It will hold true. That right
there will hold true. No questions asked. Whosoever
will is going to be able to take the water of life freely. All right, let me show you another
one that'll hold true. Go with me to Exodus 32. Exodus 32 verse 33. And the Lord said unto Moses. Whosoever hath sinned against
me. Him will I block out of my book. God was not joking. God cannot
lie. And God cannot go back on his
word. God cannot go back on his word. That is going to hold true. Whosoever
hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book. Now, have
we sinned against him? You know, a lot of people don't
think so. Well, I mean, really, what does
he consider to be sin? How strict is he on sin? Where does he draw the line?
What does he think? I don't know. Have I sinned against
him? What does he consider to be sin?
Turn with me over to Matthew 5. Matthew 5, 21, you have heard
that it was said by them of old time, thou shalt not kill and
whosoever shalt kill shall be in danger of the judgment. Everybody
knows that sin. Verse 22, but I say unto you
that whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall
be in danger of the judgment. Have we ever been angry at a
brother? God said that's sin. Verse 27,
you've heard that it was said by them of old time, thou shalt
not commit adultery. Everybody knows that's sin. But
I say unto you that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after
her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. Verse
33, again, you have heard that it hath been said by them of
old time, thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto
the Lord thine oaths. But I say unto you, swear not
at all, neither by heaven, for it is God's throne, nor by the
earth, for it is his footstool, neither by Jerusalem, for it
is the city of the great king, neither shalt thou swear by thy
head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. But let your communication be
yea, yea, nay, nay, for whatsoever is more than these cometh of
evil." Have you ever said you were going to do something and
then not done it? Whether it was in your power
or not? Had to go back on your word whether
you could help it or not? God said, that's sin. That's sin. Don't turn over there,
but James 2 verse 10 says, Whosoever shall keep the whole law and
yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. All of us fall into the category
of being ruined. All of us. But our text says,
Whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. Alright,
let's move to the next word. Will. Whosoever will. Go with
me to John 5. John 5 verse 40. And you will
not come to me that you might have life. It holds true. This holds true. Whosoever will. Let him take
the water of life freely. But the problem for natural man
is he won't. He won't. And here's the part
I need to emphasize. On God's terms. Alright. He won't on God's terms. Man thinks he will. Man thinks he will. I don't know of one man on this
earth who does not think he will. He thinks that he will take the
water of life. Will you take the water of life?
Yes. I'll take the water of life. He thinks he's willing to come.
Will you come to Christ? Sure I will. Once though, he finds out what
God's terms are to come and take that water. Once he finds out what God demands. He says, I don't think I will. No, I don't think I will. Now
what are God's terms? He does everything and we do
nothing. He does all of the work and we
do none of the work. We know why no man will come. It's because no man can come
except the Father which has sent me draw him. Christ gets all the credit. We
get none of the credit. Christ gets all the glory. We
get none of the glory. We remain dead in trespasses
and sins until He chooses to save us. The commandment is come or you
will die in your sins. But we can't come unless the
Father lovingly draws us. Our only hope is the Father giving
us to Christ and Christ raising us up at the last day. That's
our only hope. We have no say in the matter. We have no say in the matter.
Our salvation is totally in His hands. That's His terms. That's His terms. In our hand, no price we bring. We come on the grounds of being
at His mercy. We come on the grounds of His
grace and not our words. Now, here's the key. If you would
love to know, I love passages of scriptures like this where
you see them and think, well, that sounds like works to me.
That sounds like free will if I ever read it. Whosoever will,
let him come take it freely. If you want to see the key to
that verse, Go back to Revelation 22. Here it is. Revelation 22, the end of verse
17 says, Whosoever will, let him take the water of life, and
here's the key word, freely. Whoever takes the water of life
has to take it freely. That's the key. That's God's
terms. That is the only way it'll be
given. That's the only way it'll be given. In Hosea 14 verse 4,
the Lord said, I will love them freely. In Matthew 10 verse 8,
the Lord said, freely you have received. Go with me to Romans
3. Romans 3 verse 24 says, being
justified freely. What does that mean? That means
in our hand no price we bring. We bring no work. We bring nothing
worthy of earning it. Nothing. Nothing. We just freely
receive it. We just freely receive it. That sounds good. That sounds
good. Christ paid everything. We paid
nothing. Do you agree to these terms?
Christ pays everything and you pay nothing. Do you agree to these terms?
Christ does all the work and you receive all the benefit.
Do you agree to these terms? Christ does all the dying, you
do all the living. Verse 24 says, Being justified
freely by His grace, through the redemption, that particular
redemption, that is in Christ Jesus. The problem for this flesh,
this is amazing, amazing sin. It takes amazing grace for amazing
sin. This is amazing sin. The flesh
won't have it. It won't have it. It has to share
the credit. It has to share the glory. It
has to share the work. Give me something to do. That's
what I want. I want something to do. I want
to do my part. Justification is not earned.
It is only given freely. Only freely. Go over to Romans
8. Romans 8 verse 32 says, He that
spared not his own son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall
he not with him also freely give us all things? Freely. Christ was given to us freely. All of God's blessings come freely. Grace. Grace, free gift. Look at 1 Corinthians chapter
2. 1 Corinthians 2 verse 12. Now we
have received not the spirit of the world, but the spirit
which is of God. We have irresistibly received
that irresistible grace from His irresistible Spirit, the
Spirit that is of God, that we may know the things that are
freely given to us. We have freely been notified
of the things that God has freely given to us through the unimaginable
payment of His own Son. Unimaginable. This free salvation
cost an infinite price. It cost him everything. It cost
an infinite price. It cost him everything that he
might give it to us freely. All right, now go to Revelation
21. Revelation 21, verse 6. And He
said unto me, it is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning
and the end. I will give unto him that is
a thirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He said, I'm going to give this
fountain to my people freely. This is what I'm going to do.
Their flesh naturally does not want the fountain freely. They
do not want it. They will not come. Cannot come.
Will not come. Do not want it. But He said,
I'm Alpha and Omega. You can say, thank God, because
I'm Alpha and Omega. I'm the beginning. I'm the end.
I started this. I finished this. I'm gonna change
their will. I'm gonna overrule. Their will. Their will wants some of the
glory. It wants some of the credit. It wants some of the work. I'm
going to make my people willing in the day of my power. I'm going to make them willing
to count all of their works of self-righteousness. Aren't you
so glad about this? Do you know anybody who will
not let go of their works of self-righteousness? Aren't you so glad that God overrules
His people? Aren't you so glad that God overcomes
His people? He gets hold of their will and
He turns it. All of our self-righteous worthiness,
all of our own worthiness, everything that we believe has earned us
a salvation, God said, I'm going to make them willing to throw
it all away. Most prized possession. Count
it all done. Every one of them is going to
cry. We are saved by God's free grace. God's free grace. Are we willing. To be saved on
God's terms. The merit of Christ alone. Are we willing to come to Christ
on God's terms. His will. His call, His draw,
His doing. Has God made us willing to do
that? I believe He has. Are we willing for Him to receive
all the glory for the great things He's done with no price, no work,
no participation added by us? Has He made us willing to do
that? Are we willing to take the water of life on His terms? If so, Revelation 22, turn over
one page. Verse 17 says, And the Spirit
and the Bride say, Come. The Spirit sends that irresistible
call and the Bride can't help it. The Spirit says, Come. The
Bride says, Come. Verse 17, And let him that heareth
right now. Him or her that truly hears the
terms of God's sovereign call. Let that person right now say
in his or her heart, come. And let him that is a thirst,
not him who thinks he's worthy. Aren't you so glad he didn't
say that? If you think you're worthy, not him who thinks he's a fine
Christian, Let him or her who desperately needs the water of
life, him or her that is thirsting for the Lord Jesus Christ, if
that is you, if that's me, he said, come. Verse 17, and whosoever
will. Anybody. Anybody, it does not matter what
your condition is. It does not matter How unworthy
you think you are, it does not matter what kind of sinner you
are, whosoever will, whoever God has made willing. If a person is truly willing
to come on his terms, God did that. God did that. Whoever God has made willing
to bow to the finished work of Christ, whosoever will, let him
take the water of life freely. Freely. Ho, every one that thirsteth,
come ye to the waters, and he that has no money, no spiritual
money. Does anybody in here have any
spiritual money? He says, if that's you, come
by, eat. Salvation comes to sinners one
way, freely. That's such good news to me.
Salvation comes to sinners one way, free. It either comes free or it doesn't
come at all. That is such good news to a man
who's broke. If you're broke, come on. Take
it for anything. All right, stand together with
me. Turn with me to 477.
