I am mine, I am yours, I am mine, I am yours, I am mine, I am yours Go back to Genesis 34 with me,
please. These are some difficult things,
as said, and very sensitive things, and I'm very, very conscious
of how sensitive they are to young ears. But this is God's
Word. God's Word. And we want to be
true to it, don't we? say exactly what He said. Our
Lord is so good, so merciful, so faithful. He speaks so plainly
that we can understand and make no mistake about what He tells
us and what He warns us about. Words of warning, you want to
be as clear as possible in words of warning. Paul said that, he
said, I cease not to warn day and night with tears. You only
warn those you love, don't you? Noah being warned and God moved
with fear because God loved him. The things we're going to deal
with that many in here adults are guilty of, if not everyone in here, and ashamed of our past sins. But this is all the more reason
to warn our young people, isn't it? And who better to warn someone
about a pit than someone who's been in it? So, you read this with me. It's very interesting, but very
It's very difficult. I told Mindy this morning, I
can't tell you how many times I wish my dad was pastor of this
church and dealing with these things. But necessity laid on
me. Jacob came to this town of Shalem
named after this rich young boy named Shechem. Verse 1, Dinah,
the daughter of Leah, who was the full sister of Reuben and
Simeon and Levi and Judah. Dinah went out to see the daughters
of the Lamb. This is such a common occurrence
now and then. Things haven't changed. Dinah,
she's the daughter of a religious man. She's the daughter of Jacob.
Jacob is a religious man. Everyone religious is considered
by this world strict. Right? Conservative. If you live
godly or according to God's rules, the world thinks you're strict. But she was under his rule. He wasn't too strict. He just
taught her God's Word, like Abraham, his grandfather. And it was for
her good, her protection. She's a young, unmarried virgin,
14 to 16 years old, most believe. She went out to see the daughters
of the world. Went out to see them. Maybe there
was a festival. Maybe there was a fair going
on. She went out to see the fashions of the girls around town, the
vanities, Scripture calls them, of the world. And that's what
girls do, don't they? That's, you know, the song, girls
just want to have fun. And she probably snuck off. Probably. That happens a lot, doesn't it? And as commonly occurs, verse
2, when Shechem, the son of Hamel, the high blight prince of the
country, saw her, he took her and lay with her and defiled
her. This is a wealthy young man,
older than she, with a well-known family. He has money. He has, I'm sure, fancy clothes,
a fancy chariot. And all of those things wooed
her and seduced her. And she was being young. Easy
prey to this fellow. Easy prey. He did not say he
forced her. Scripture is clear about that
in the story of Ammon and David's daughter. He forced her. She
resisted, but Ammon raped her. This was consensual. Dinah agreed
to this, although this man tempted her, and she fell for him. She
fell for his charm. She fell for his age and his
smooth talk. And Scripture says he defiled
her. That's what God calls it. Marriage is honorable in all,
Scripture says, and the bed is undefiled in marriage only. Outside of that, God says it's
unclean. It's defiled. He calls it fornication. Any and all manner of sex outside
of marriage between two, a man and a woman, And those who love
one another is defilement, God says. Right? Right. It's unclean. And it's no more
than lust outside of true love and commitment. And love is always
commitment. One hundred percent commitment. There's no true love if there's
not total commitment before. before the consummation date. Did Leah talk to Dinah about
these things? You know she did. You know she
did. Women have to do that with daughters
that become a certain age. You just have to deal with those
things, don't you? Did Jacob? It's doubtful. It's doubtful. He didn't even
say anything after the fact. Jacob, again, reveals his cowardly
nature. But he should have. Jacob, the
father, is the spiritual leader of the home. The father is the
one who must bear the rule and instruct his house in what God's
Word says. Mindy told me that her father
made the greatest impression upon her when she was a young
girl. He spoke to her about this thing. He warned her about young
men. And she said, that made a great
impression on me, my father telling me this thing. The book of Titus. Paul told the women, aged women,
and everyone, teach your young women to be chaste. Chaste. That's chastity. That means to
save themselves for marriage. To give themselves to one man
in marriage. The word chaste means clean.
It means modest. It means wait until marriage
to give yourself in love to a lifelong mate and a commitment to him. Now, our Lord didn't write these
things. Look at Deuteronomy 6. Our Lord did not say these things
and write these things to make us miserable, but to make us happy for our
good. The Lord didn't say these things,
didn't give these things, strict laws to make us miserable. But
the commandment is right. The commandment is holy, it's
just, it's good, it's for our good. For our good. Look at Deuteronomy 6, verse
24. The Lord commanded us to do all
these statutes to fear the Lord our God for our good. Always. Always for our good. Didn't He say, if you'd be willing
and obedient, you'll eat the good of the land? Didn't He say
that? But if you're a male, you're going to suffer the consequences.
You're going to suffer the consequences of your own action. You can't
blame God. Because in faithfulness and in
love and goodness, like a parent tells a young child and warns
them, don't do this or this is what will happen. Do this and
it will be well with you. Didn't He say that? He set before
them blessings. Here's the blessings. Just do
what I say. Here's the blessings. But here's
the curses. If you don't, this is what's going to happen. Our God is good. He didn't say
these things to keep us under strict bondage, but listen to
that. He said these things to keep the flesh from running hog
wild. To keep the flesh from bringing
us into bondage to it. Because if these things are given
into, we will be given to them. And these things bring nothing.
The Lord is telling us out of love and mercy, because these
things will bring shame and deep guilt and sorrow and cause more
pain. What Dinah did here, do you see
what all happened to how many people? The consequences of our action
are far-reaching. They don't just involve me. A lot of people suffered in them. Keep that Deuteronomy 6. We'll go back to it. Go back
to our text. Well, no, go to Genesis 18. Genesis
18. Jacob, I don't believe he spoke
to his daughter, and he should have, but you know, we need to
be like Abraham. Look at Genesis 18, verse 19 and 20. Look at what the Lord
said about Abraham. I want this to be said about
me. He said, Genesis 18, 19, I know Abraham. He will command
his children and his household after him, and they shall keep
the way of the Lord to do justice that judgment that the Lord may
bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him. And the
Lord said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great,
because their sin is grievous. Did Lot tell his daughters? I
don't think so. I don't think so. Dinah is not innocent. She's guilty. You know, the Scripture
is never, the word mistake is not found in the Scripture. God's Word does not ever say
that someone just made a mistake. No. She's old enough. She knew. She knew. She's not innocent.
She knew better. The law was written on her heart.
She heard the word from, if not Jacob, and she did. Jacob worshipped
the Lord, but if she didn't hear it from him, she sure heard it
from Abraham, her grandfather. She didn't make a mistake. She
sinned against the Lord. She rebelled against the Lord. She rebelled against God, against
her parents. And she was seduced, yes. She
was tempted, but she gave in. She gave in because she's a sinner.
She's a rebel. And she brought reproach upon
God and upon her family and herself. She's guilty. She's defiled. She defiled herself. The tragic thing about this is,
as I said, any sin is given into, you run the risk, the great, great
possibility that you will be given to that sin. That the Lord
will turn you over to that. And God's wisdom and mercy is
to us to forbid things that we are apt to be given to. That's His great mercy to forbid
things. Don't do that because you don't
know how you're playing with fire and a little fire in the
bosom. Don't go near the fire. That's
what the Lord is saying. Because once given into, it becomes
harder and harder to resist. Until the next boy or girl, and
then the next, and the next, and the next, until you're totally
defiled. You's done. Ask Rahab. Rahab was somebody's daughter.
Wasn't you? How'd this start, Rahab? I went
out to see the daughters of the Lamb. And they're all doing it. I didn't want to be different. Now look at me, Rahab said. But there's good news. Ask Rahab. There's hope for the most defiled. Even a Rahab, one that's completely
defiled. It's the scarlet line of mercy
and salvation that runs all the way through this book. To the
most defiled, it's the blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son, that
cleanses us from all sin. So much so that God says their
past is gone. Remember no more. So much so,
listen to this now, so much so that that rebel, that sinner,
that defiled, filthy, used up woman or man or young person
is going to be someday presented to the Holy Father by Jesus Christ,
the faithful husband, holy, unblameable, and unreprovable in God's sight
as chaste virgins. That's how good God is, isn't
it? It's the only thing that will. It's going to take one
thing to get Dinah out of this mess. One thing. Young people, there are some
people in here, some older people, that will tell you of the great
regrets they have. and the great sorrow and shame
and suffering that they have caused for themselves and for
others by this very sin. Others, by God's grace, can testify
to the blessing of waiting, waiting on a husband give themselves
to one man, one woman, but not for their glory. Not for their
glory, but to the glory of God. Here's two sisters. One, by God's
grace, is restrained from this. Kept by the power of God from
her lust, giving vent to her lust from practicing. She wants
to. She's been in situations where
it could have happened. But God kept her from it. And here her sister, defiled. Who maketh it a different? And if anything, this one who
was kept runs the risk and will most certainly be filled with
self-righteousness. which to God is just as bad,
if not worse, than this open wickedness. It certainly is if this one looks
down on this one and forgets the only reason she's not there
is by the grace of God. But there are many in here that
will tell you of the great regrets they have and the great sorrow
and shame that they have suffered and caused others to suffer.
And others will tell you, testify to the goodness of God in causing
them to wait and be committed to and married to one man and
one woman. And what a great blessing that
is. A great blessing. There was no talk of love until
after the fact. Verse 3, don't be fooled by Shechem. Are you fooled by Shechem? Other
words of Scripture here? Verse 3, His soul claimed unto
Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the damsel and spake
kindly unto the damsel. Yes, after he got her in bed. You're not fooled by Balaam's
talk, are you? No. Go down quickly to verse
23. This is Shechem. and his father talking, both
of them. Verse 23, they both say, Let these men come in, shall
not their cattle and their substance and every beast of theirs be
ours? We'll get their stuff. Jacob was a rich man at this
time, and she fell in love with her beauty is what he fell in
love with. And I'll just be honest with you, men, that's the first
thing we fall for, isn't it? It is. But son, by God's grace,
the true love is kindled by His grace. But this was all talk,
and he made promises. He made promises like young men
are prone to do. They'll tell a girl anything. everything together. How do I know? I'm a guy, you know, and even
women don't, you women don't know men like men know men, do
they? You may have had a son, but you
never were one. It's like men don't know daughters
like mothers know daughters, huh? Why? Because you were one. And all my friends were boys.
Weren't they? We know them. We know them. All right. Don't fool us. These
fellas didn't fool Jacob's sons. Didn't it say of many that they
believed on the Lord? Didn't it say that? They believed
on the Lord. None of them did. They all crucified
Him. The Lord didn't commit Himself
to them. He knew what was in them. They said they believed.
So this fellow just said he loved her. It seemed that way. And as I pointed out to you,
he says he was more honorable than all his half. That doesn't
say he was honorable. He's just more honorable than
these rotten fellows. There's no talk of love. He talked
kindly to her. Yeah, he's in trouble. He wants
her. But he's not worth having. No
man is worth having if he can't wait for you. He's not worth
having if he insists that he have all of you before he commits
to you. That's no husband. A man that
wants you, not just your flesh, is the one that loves you. So this was after the fact. Look
at verse 4. He said to his father, Get me
this damsel. Get me. This is a privileged,
This is a privileged fellow. This is a fellow who's lived
all his life in finery and riches and spoiled rich kid. That's
what he is. Prince's son. He's used to making
demand. Get me this girl. It doesn't work that way, son.
Get me this girl. Does that sound honorable to
you? No. Verse 5 and 6, Jacob heard what
happened. He didn't say anything. He held
his peace. My, my, Jacob, Jacob, Jacob. Oh, my. Sorry father, wasn't he? Oh,
but I'm so glad he's a God of Jacob, aren't you? God of sorry
fathers, aren't you? Hamor, the father of Shechem,
came to commune with Jacob. He's trying to make a compromise.
Jacob shouldn't have done this. He should have rebuked. He should
have taken Shechem and talked to him face to face like a man.
You know what you've done? Shouldn't have. Jacob's son's
going to deal with him. Jacob should have done that.
He'd have prevented a lot of bloodshed. But he didn't. And he shouldn't
have been listening to this man who's trying to Saved things
over. His father is trying to smooth
things over. Good words and fair speeches.
He's going to smooth this thing over. No, this is folly in Israel. This is bringing great reproach
upon God and the family of Jacob. Verse 7 through 10, Jacob came
out of the field, Jacob's son. They were grieved. They were
wroth. They were angry. Folly had been wrought in Israel, lying
with Jacob's daughter, which thing ought not to be done."
God wrote that. It ought not to be done. And
Hamel communed with them, saying, the soul of my son, as long as
for your daughter, give her him to wife. Make ye marriages with
her. Give your daughters to dwell in the land with her. Dwell and
trade ye therein. Get your possessions therein.
I thought when I read this, I thought, of what our Lord said in Luke's
Gospel about the last days. He said, as in the days of Noah,
they'll be marrying and giving and marrying. He's warning His people about
this. Before He said that, He said,
seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. Young people, old people, all
people, seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.
There's one thing needful. You don't need a husband. You
don't need a wife. You need Jesus Christ. You need
to know the Lord. Paul said, It remaineth that
those that have wives be as though they had none. Time is short,
he said. As in the days of Noah, and he
went on to say, as in the days of Lot, they ate and drank and
bought and sold. This is what the people of the
world said to Jacob's son. This is what these worldlings,
these fellows said to Jacob's son and Jacob. No, just live,
just get married and buy and sell. Isn't this the good life?
Jacob should have right there. Jacob should have right there
said, no. No, the worship of the Lord is
the one thing needful. No, this is all wrong. This is
not what we live for. This is not our Lord told us
from the beginning. Don't mingle with, can't fellowship
with the world. Come ye out from among them,
be ye separate, and I'll be a father to you. These things are vanity,
vanity of vanities. Set your affection on things
above, not on things of the earth. This is what our God tells us.
Listen to this. Listen to James. James. Now, this thing started
all wrong. It started bad with seemingly
innocent enough. But as I said, Dinah is not innocent. She snuck
off and she went out to see what the other girls of the world
were doing. She wanted to be a part of it.
She didn't just make a mistake. She sinned against God, and she
sinned against her family and herself, her own body, and became
defiled. And listen to James. Listen.
James chapter 1, verse 12. And again, I'm not preaching
down to you. I'm guilty. Everybody in here, if we haven't
committed this act, we've thought it, and the Lord says, guilty. Didn't He? From the oldest person
here. The most chaste woman or man here is guilty, as long as
the grace of God didn't keep you from becoming a harlot. But
here's what the Lord in great mercy says to us. Let no man
say when he's tempted, I'm tempted of God. God allowed this to happen,
didn't He? Dinah. He let her do this, didn't
He? But can Dinah blame God for this? Let no man say, I'm tempted of
God. God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any
man. But every man is tempted, or a young person, when he's
drawn away of his own lust and enticed. That looks good. God says, it's not good. It's
deceptive. It promises you something, but
it's lying to you. riches, pleasure, these things.
The world promises you the good life when you'll die in these
things. It trespasses it. It might destroy
you, body and soul. That's what God said. Now listen
carefully. James says this, that every man
is tempted to draw away of his own lust, then when lust hath
conceived, the thought, when it hath conceived, acted upon,
it brings forth sin. And sin, when it is finished, death. Until you're just dead
in it and can't get out. Can't get out. Can't get out. It's going to take a miracle
to get you out. It's going to take great mercy
and grace to get you out. The Lord tells His sons and daughters
what's right, doesn't He? He's a good God. He tells parents
to tell their sons and daughters what's right. Deuteronomy 7. I had you keep that. Deuteronomy
7. Look at this. I need to hurry. There's a wonderful gospel story
in here. I've already told you the gospel
about Rahab. But, oh, this story. We're going
to see. We're going to be amazed at why all this happened. You'll
see clearly the gospel in all this. Why all this happened. Deuteronomy 7, verse 1, the Lord
said, When the Lord thy God shall bring thee into the land whither
thou goest to possess it. You see, they didn't have to
compromise with these fellows, did they? That land belonged
to Jacob. The meek are going to inherit
the earth. We don't have to bow and scrape and give in to them.
We don't need what they have. We don't need what they have.
We don't want what they offer us. We don't have to compromise
our principle, our belief, our religion, do we? We don't have
to do that. They don't have anything we need. They promise, we'll
give this to your daughter. No, you'd do well to have one
of our daughters, but we sure don't need yours. We don't need
your lands, because that land you're on is ours anyway. Verse 2, When the Lord thy God
shall deliver them before thee, thou shalt smite them. Utterly
destroy them. Make no covenant with them. Deuteronomy
13, he even says about your family. If your family says, let's go
over here and worship, you tell them. You be the first. Now, you know we're not talking
about literal. What Simeon and Levi did was terrible. And Jacob
cursed them for it. When Jacob was dying, Samson
and Levi got cursed by Jacob for what they did. No, no, you
don't take vengeance in your sins. You live by the sword,
you will die by the sword. But our Lord is saying this spiritually.
Verse 2, Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor show mercy unto
them, neither shalt thou make marriages with them. Thy daughter
thou shalt not give unto his son. Nor his daughter shalt thou
take unto thy son." Why, Lord? Why? Because, verse 4, they will
turn away thy son from following thee. Yes, they will. And someone, and I don't have
enough time, there's not enough time to deal with every single
case, is there? But for every case where the
Lord has shown mercy to someone, it's guilty to say, there are
nine that are gone. Right? Nine children gone because
it didn't hurt them. We want to take our chances or
take God at His word. I say take God at His Word. You're not saved by chance anyway.
God doesn't give people chances. No one is saved by chance. No
one deserves a chance. You don't deserve a second chance,
so to speak. Diana didn't deserve to be saved.
But God did. God did. He said they will take
your sons and daughters away. Seems innocent enough. Seems
like a nice fellow. He's religious. Does he know God? Does he know
Christ? But he's sincere. Yeah. All young
men are, aren't they? To get the girl. Some in here, by God's grace,
Waited, as I said, waited on the Lord. You know what wait
on the Lord means? Exactly what that says. Wait, I say, on the
Lord. Wait. Wait for what? For Him
to provide. The Lord will provide. Some in
here, by God's grace, have waited on a believing mate. And are
you happy? Are you glad? They have marriages you dream
of. My sister dated a young man that I knew
and kind of looked up to him in high school. She was two years
older than me, and this young man I knew, she dated him from
the seventh grade, didn't she, mother? Seventh grade, she started
dating this fellow, the same grade. His name was David. They
have a fine family, a rich family. And a fine young man, and he'd
come to church every now and then. He was captain of the football
team. Had it all. Everybody liked him.
Well known. Nice young man. I knew him, Kelly. I was in the
locker room. I was in the locker room when
David started showing his colors. And my sister didn't see that. Well, she dated this young man
all the way through high school. The Lord saved my sister. Revealed Himself to her. And
then she went to college, and this young man kept pursuing
her. And she made it very plain to
him, I'm not going to marry you. I'm not going to marry anybody
except a believer. I'm not going to do it. Do you know who her husband was? Bob Coffey. My daughter, when she was in
high school, started dating a young man. Boy, I spotted him a mile
away. And he said all the right things.
And he did all the right things. He spoke kindly to her. And he
talked of love. And he came to church every now
and then. But as I said, I was a boy. All my friends were boys. And I know boys. And I saw right
through them. My wife didn't. My daughter did
not. And I told her, you can't date
that young man anymore. The only trouble I ever had with
Hannah. The only time Hannah in her whole
life got mad at her dad Do you think she's mad now? Do you know who her husband is? And I said, wait, wait, you'll
see, God's good. Orlando Church is experiencing
a great outpouring of God's Spirit on the young people Daughters
and sons of believers are marrying daughters and sons of believers. Aren't they? Lexington, Kentucky. You'll see them all across town
looking for mates of believers. Even if they're not, they're
just going with what the Lord says. It's what the Lord says. And you, oh, we're watching the
Lord. Bless, bless, bless, bless, bless. Wait, I say, wait on the Lord.
Now, this story has a deeper meaning. All right. This story,
the young man Shechem that agrees to do anything, that's always
common. A young man will agree to do
anything. He said, I'll even be circumcised. I'll be, I'll
join the church. I'll get baptized. That's happening. male and female. I'll get baptized. Anything to have the girl. It's
happened here. I'll go ahead and tell this.
She won't mind if it'll be a help to somebody. Sarah Williams, Rick and Jenny's daughter, dated
a couple of young men. You remember, they came here.
One young man, he seemed so sincere. He seemed so broken. He wrote
me letters, didn't he, Manny? He wrote me letters, and if I
could just let you read those letters, you'd think, this boy,
the Lord's revealed Himself to this boy. Now, as soon as Sarah
left for college, that young man left here, and I never saw
him again. Now, what would have happened?
Sarah made it plain to him, I'm not marrying you. Until the Lord comes plain that
you belong to the Lord. And the Lord revealed Himself
to Sarah, and then another young man came along. And he came to
me and asked me to be baptized. And you know him. And he came,
he seemed so sincere, and he asked me to be baptized. And
I said, no, let's put it off. Because I didn't believe him. And Sarah came to me later and
said, it's not real. It's not real. It's not real. I said, I know. I know. He just
wants you. You know who Sarah is married
to now? Austin Groover. How would you
like to have a husband in that family? You're going to have to leave her. I can give you instance after
instance of that. Count on one hand, you know.
Now listen, all right. It's a clear example, this story
of how anybody will get religion, join the church, get baptized
just to get what they want. And they said they revealed themselves
by saying everything they have will belong to us. See, that's
covetousness. Lust of the flesh, lust of the
eye, pride of life. That's all that unregenerate
people have. And I've seen this many times.
What does it say about a boy who says he wants you and won't
come to worship service now? He doesn't know God. And if you
get married to Him, He ain't coming at all. You can count
that down. And if the Lord reveals Himself to you, you're going
to be married to an unbeliever. And you're going to have nothing
but trouble. Ask the people in here who are married and are
married to unbelievers. It's miserable. Does this need to be said? Those
of you who have gone through it, does this need to be said?
Do you want me to say this? Do you want me to warn you? Now, here's the gospel. All right. Smile. Here's the gospel. The sons of Jacob. And it's so
there's so much more. Oh, this is God's word. This
is God's word. This is more than just it's an
actual story. Oh, the story of story. The old
old story is here. The sons of Jacob, first of all,
the sons of Jacob represent false prophets, Jews, Pharisees who
are, they were deceitful, weren't they, to these fellows. And all
they wanted to do was get them circumcised. You'll be like us
if you go through this ritual. How could the son of Jacob treat
the blessed ordinance of circumcision so lightly like that? How could
they treat something like that? Because they didn't know anything
about it. Circumcisions of the heart. You can't be a Jew by
being baptized. You can't be a Christian by joining
the church and being baptized. You've got to be born of God.
You can't do this. You can't make somebody a believer,
a child of God. That's false preachers. That's
what the Jews did. Compass sea and land to establish
one proselyte. Say, if you'll be circumcised,
go through all these rituals, then you're a good Jew. No, you're
not. And all they're doing in the
end is slaying them, butchering souls, and causing God to stink. Remember that? Jacob said, you've
caused me to stink. All this nonsense religion and
form, having a form of godliness, causes God's Word to stink. The blessed ordinance of baptism,
it's so common and so foolishly used by fools that it causes
it to stink. That's clear, isn't it? That's
who they represent. That's who they represent. But
now, now look at this. These sons of Jacob. You're a
son of Jacob. I'm a son of Jacob. God's people
are sons of Jacob. Witnesses. Zealous for the truth. People of God. Preachers of the
Lord who cannot tolerate, cannot tolerate the rape of our people. But religion is
doing. And that's what it is. Making
merchandise of men's souls. Gimme, gimme, gimme. That's what
Shechem said. Gimme. I've got to get members. Get here. And they woo our sons
and daughters. They woo them. Promise them this
and promise them that. They're raping them. And we can't
tolerate that. And we'll not compromise with
them. And we call these false preachers, listen to me, I'm
saying this for our good, and true preachers all stand up like
all the prophets of old and apostles of old and call false preachers
false. They see right through them.
Sons of Jacob said, that sheikah's no good. Hamel, I don't care
how he sounds to you, good words, fair speeches. He's a crook.
He just wants our daughter. That's all he wants. He wants
a body. He wants to counterhead. That's all they want. Not interested
in their souls. Not interested in the glory of
God. By the way, did Shechem repent? You say he's honorable? Did he repent? No. Did Hamor? Did they acknowledge the folly
they've caused? No. Are they broken? Is Shechem broken?
No. He's a crook. He's a crook. So we call him
that. These false preachers. And what
we do is we take this sword. You know, they said of the sons
of Jacob, they're peaceable men. Oh, yes, but we ain't going to
compromise. And they took the sword and shlew them on. Man will compromise with false
religion. It needs to be slain. The false god Dagon, his head
needs to come off. All these false preachers, like
David said, do not I hate them that hate thee. Yea, I hate them
with a perfect hatred, a complete hatred, a righteous indignation. They're bringing down your name,
David said. They're bringing down our God. They're raping
our people. Oh no, we're not counting the
cysts for a moment. We're not compromised for a moment.
We're going to cut some heads off. And the only thing that
will do it, not sweet talk like Jacob tried to do, bring out
the sword. Bring out the sword. No, no,
no. Peaceable? Christ said, do you
suppose I came to bring peace on this earth? Nay, but rather
a sword, He said. And I'm going to set it barren.
I'm going to prove who's on the Lord's side. All right, now here's
the clearest picture of all, and I'll quit with it. You'll wonder why it didn't occur
to you. Here's this pure virgin woman, young lady, pure virgin. She's tempted by a deceiver. She's tempted by a deceiver who
promises her love, who promises her fame, who promises her all
things. And she falls to his charm. She
becomes captive to this deceiver. And all the deceiver wants is
her father's riches. Wants to spoil her house. That's
Satan. That's Eve. That's all of us. tempted by the tempter, by the
deceiver, who all he wants is his will to take what God has
alone, the glory of God for himself. And Dinah falls for it like we
all do, fall for the temptations which are Satan and the guiles
and the wiles of Satan. We all fall for it. Every one
of us are Dinahs. We all fall for this trap, and
we fall into captivity, don't we? We fall captive to the God
of this world and the things of this world, and we're taken
with them. And as young people, every one of us in here, as young
people, before the Lord dealt with, completely smitten by and
taken by the things and the people of this world. Blind to this deception. Death to the Word of God. Silencing our conscience like
Dinah did. Dwelling in a heathen land. Held
captive by the God of this world. Slave to its charms. She was
living with this man. Dinah was living with this man.
And that's sin. Two brothers come. Two brothers come. Mercy and
truth meet together and say, we're going to get our sister
back. Righteousness and peace kiss one another and say, Dinah
is held captive. Dinah doesn't know what she's
doing. Dinah has defiled herself. We're going to get her back.
And lo, they come. And you know what it's going
to take to get Dinah? The only thing that will deliver
her from captivity, from her defilement, blood's got to be
shed. And mercy and truth and righteousness
and peace meet together in the blessed husband, captain of our
salvation, the Lord Jesus Christ, who comes from these defiled
diners. He says, Honey, I've come for
you. Look at chapter 34, verse 26. They saw Shluehamor, this one
she was held captive to, Shechem, his son, with the edge of the
sword, and took Dinah out of Shechem's house. Where did she
go? Back home to the Father where she belonged. Back home. And they said in the end, verse
31, they're not going to deal with our daughter like a harlot. But Simeon, Levi, she acted the
harlot. No. That's our sister. Don't you call her hard. No, she just lost. We found her. She's just dead. Now she's live. She's just held captive. Oh, blessed be the name of the
Lord. Okay. Oh, Lord, stand with them. Stand with them. Oh, Lord,
deliver us and our children, our grandchildren from captivity.
Deliver us, oh Lord, from the God of this world, from our sinful
selves. Lord, restrain them. Restrain
them. Keep them back. Keep us back.
from these things that would ruin us. Keep us back, O Lord. Enable us to wait on the Lord. Show us the wisdom of waiting.
Make us patient. Patient. And we will experience. Patients have a perfect work.
We will experience the blessed goodness of our God in the land
of the living, even now. O Lord, honor Your Word as we
attempt to honor it. In Christ's name, Amen. Okay.
