Go back to Genesis 24. I listened personally to four messages
from this chapter this week, and I'm still not tired of them. This is a blessed, blessed, blessed
type picture of how God the Father purposed to have a bride, a wife,
for the Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ. He chose a people
before the world began and gave them to His Son in a union which
the Scripture says is like marriage. But my pastor brought this out
and made this observation that needs to be
said. No type is perfect. No Old Testament picture is perfect. No type or shadow is just that,
it's a shadow, not the real thing. And we can't make everything
fit, try as we may, and you don't need to do that. But that's the
reason there are so many types, all of which, they all testify
of Christ, some aspect of His person and work, but He's so
glorious and so great, so many facets of His character and person
and work that it takes a large book to write about Him. But
this is one of the best. In verses 1 through 6, Abraham
was old, well stricken in age. The Lord had blessed Abraham
in all things. This is our God. Abraham represents
our God, the rock of ages, our eternal God, blessed forever. Verse 2, it says, Abraham said
unto his eldest servant of his house that ruled over all that
he had, put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh, and I will
make thee swear by the Lord, the God of heaven, the God of
the earth, thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters
of the Canaanites among whom I dwell, but thou shalt go unto
my country, to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son Isaiah. represents the preacher of the
gospel, whom the Lord sends with the message of who God is and
who Christ is, and God who purposed and swore in a covenant of grace
before the world began to give to the Lord Jesus Christ a people,
to save a people out of this evil world by giving them to
His Son. betrothing them to His Son. And they're going to come to
Him. The angel of God who, in this story, represents the Spirit
of God. Abraham said, He'll go before
you to His service. He'll make your journey prosperous. You will take a wife from my
son. And it pleased God by the foolishness
of preaching. It pleased God by the foolishness
of preaching to save them. And the scripture says, Oh, how
shall they preach except they be sinned? And Abraham had this
servant who was just a common old servant, but oh my, he was
faithful. And don't you know, Rebecca loved
this man the rest of her life. for introducing her to Isaac. The servant said this in verse
5. The servant, oh, with this heavy
responsibility, this weight, this burden that had now been
put on his shoulders, he thought, realizing his own inability to
tell a woman, to find a woman, first of all, he didn't know,
tell her of someone she did not know, tried to tell her of his
wonderful master, a man she had never seen and will not see for
some time. To make her willing, he thought,
he said, I just can't do this. And he said in verse 5, perventure
the woman will not be willing to follow me into this land.
What if she won't come? Must I needs bring thy son again
into the land from whence thou comest? Should I come back and
get Isaac and bring him back here and let her see him for
herself? And Abraham, this is very important, and this is what the preacher
It tries to do. Every one sent by God, every
preacher, and there are many. There are. God has raised up
quite a few in our day, and they're standing up right now. As I speak,
they themselves are standing up declaring the unsearchable
riches of God's only beloved, well-begotten, only beloved Son. Right now. And God in mercy is
bringing some. right now to His blessed Son. But those men, it's a weighty,
weighty thing. Who is sufficient, Paul said,
for these things? And they say, I don't know how
it's going to be done. Like Ezekiel, can these bones live? I don't
know how, but you know. And Abraham said this twice.
He said, you beware that you don't bring my Son hither again.
Now that's important, people. Verse 8, he says, you beware.
Verse 8, only bring not my son thither again. You're not taking
Isaac back down there. Christ Jesus the Lord, the Son
of the Most High God, came into this world once. Scripture says,
now once in the end of the world hath He appeared to put away
sin by the sacrifice of Himself. We saw Jesus. In the flesh, God
manifested in the flesh a man named Jesus. A child was born,
a son given, who came into this world to put away sin. We see
him made a little lower than the angels for the suffering
of death. We saw him suffer and die in weakness. But he did that
as a substitute. He did that as a sin offering.
He did that as a sacrifice for the sins of God's people. God
sent him into this world to accomplish a task, and when his job was
done on Calvary's tree, he said, it is finished. And then he assumed
his royal regal robes again, his glorified body. And he went
back to the majesty on high where he sat down, having purged the
sins of his people, expecting his enemies to be made his footstool,
expecting everyone that the Father gave him to come to him and sent
the Holy Spirit, this angel of God, to bring every one of them.
And they're coming. They are coming, every one of
them. God promised it. And he sends
the Holy Spirit who effectually, irresistibly, invincibly draws
every one of them. They are coming. And God says
to his preacher, do not bring him down. Do not bring Jesus
Christ down to the level of men and women. Do not offer him to
men. He is not up for offering. Do
not ask them to accept him. This servant never asked this
girl to accept Isaac. No, sir. That would be bringing
him down from his glory. She's the one that needs to ask,
will he accept me? She's the one who needs to be
brought down off her camel into the dust. and see and marvel
and be amazed that this glorious Son of the Highest would have
anything to do with somebody like her, that He would choose
one like her. That's what the servants are
called to do. Go out and declare your high
and holy God and His high and holy beloved Son who is merciful
and gracious, who has power over all flesh, and who has a wife,
a bride, and just maybe, Maybe you are one. I don't know. I
wonder, but I hope so. God's willing. But He doesn't
beg you, and He doesn't ask you. God's not a beggar, and neither
are His preachers. You go tell this message, He
said. And if she's not willing, she's
not mine. If she won't come, I didn't choose
her. But don't you dare beg her. Christ
does not preach Him outside the door of sinners. You preach Him
as the door. You preach Him so high that He's
the one who must get up and open the door to you, you Shulamite
maiden. Beware. This is so important.
All preaching that brings Christ down to the level of still a
man and brings Him down as a beggar and an offer and an outside men's
hearts door, that's anti-Christ. Catholicism that has Him crucified
again in the Mass, that's anti-Christ. It's just that serious. Our Lord
said, do not bring Him down here. The next time He comes to this
earth, He's not going to set foot on it. He's going to stay
up in the air. And like Rebecca, we're going
to rise to meet Him. He's going to bring us up out
of this God-forsaken place. Christ Jesus the Lord. Don't
bring Him down. The angel will go before thee
and thou shalt take a wife. People argue and have argued
for years. If you believe in election, then
only the elect will be saved. Why preach? That's precisely
why we preach. Our Lord said, go into all the
world and preach the gospel. I have a sheep out there. They're
going to hear my voice. Other sheep I have which are
not of this fold, He said, them also I must bring. They shall
hear my voice. They'll follow my under shepherd.
They'll hear his voice. Though it's just a man, they'll
hear from me. Amazingly, this is how you know. This is how
you know the true gospel of God, not man. His men aren't begging
people. Don't have to. God makes people
beg. That's how you know the difference.
This is how you know the power of God to bring them. This man
doesn't resort to tricks and tactics and gimmicks and business
tactics to try to win friends and influence people and bribe
people to come marry somebody they don't want to marry. Oh
no! Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power. Thy
people will behold the glory and the beauty of the Lord Jesus
Christ. They'll fall in love with Him, smack dab in love with
Him. You just declare and just preach
Him and stand back and you watch. That's how you know it's of me,
the Lord said. If it's of man, you're going
to have to resort to everything. Do anything within your power,
trick them, but it won't last. They're not my people. You just
go declare the truth. And you cry unto the wind, O
come, O Northwood, come, angel of God, and make the gospel run
well. Bring Rebecca, Lord. And he said,
I'll do it. I'll do it. Just preach, he said, and you're
clear. That's all you're called to do. Swear now. Okay. That's all I'll do. That's what I'll do. And this
servant told this story two or three times. He told the same
story two or three times. But it wasn't grievous to him.
It wasn't grievous to him. Paul
one time, after standing before the third or fourth king and
ruler, they said, now tell us again, Paul, what this gospel,
this story is that you're preaching. Oh, Agrippa, he said, I just
think myself happy. Tell it. Brother Donnie Bell,
I listen to him preach this. And bless his heart, I love him
dearly. He just laughs all the way through
that thing. Why? Hadn't he heard this and preached
this before? Yes, but he's talking about his beloved. He's telling
his own story how the beloved came and found him. It's good
news. It's a happy day. It's the happiest
day of your life. The only thing that you married
people that know Christ love to tell more than when you met
your earthly husband or wife is the day your Heavenly Father acquainted you with your beloved
husband. Now that, you'll never grow tired
of telling. This man had all the goods of
his mast. Ten camels, verse 10, of his
master. His master had many camels. I've
never heard anybody say what these camels are, and there's
talk spoken of all the way through. They're mentioned many, many,
many times. Camels, camels, camels. I thought, what could they possibly
be? Well, these camels are beasts of burden. These camels are carrying
Abraham. Abraham's servant. They're sent
by Abraham. Belonged to him. He had a bunch
of them. He sent ten of them. And on these camels are Abraham's
servant, all of his servants. And when they go, they bring
back Rebekah and her maidens and Abraham's servant, all of
them. Beasts of burden. What's that? Angels of the Lord. Angels of God sent as ministry
and spirit heirs of righteousness. Beasts of burden. Go and set
a watch over them. Bury them, carry them lest they
dash their foot against the stone. Bring them back to me. Bring
them back. All the goods of his master were
in his hand, and he arose, and all the goods, all the goods of Abraham On ten camels? No, he said he just brought a
tent, just a portion. All of them, or what he had was
some tokens of the unsearchable riches of Abraham and Isaiah. He had some tokens of all those
goods, and people were just saying about, oh, the unsearchable riches
of Christ. Who shall their greatness declare? Riches exhaustless of mercy and
grace. pearls that the poorest may wear. Rebekah is going to wear some
of these jewels, but not all of them. In Christ dwelleth all
the fullness of the Godhead body, all the treasures of wisdom and
knowledge, all the secrets. And we preach the whole counsel
of God. When we preach Christ, in Him
dwelleth all. In Christ is all and in all.
And in this message is everything you need if you hear Christ.
But the half, I listened to four men, and I'm telling you, the
half was not told. It just was not told. And it
won't be still after this. All the goods. Oh, my. Some jewels of gold and silver
and precious stones, yes, but not all of them. And he made
his camels kneel down. Well, anyway, he came to this
well of water. He came to this well of water,
a well where the women would come to draw water. The Lord
sent his servant, sent his angel first. His angels at work before
the servant gets there. That angel of God was working
on Rebekah before the servant ever spoke to her. And so it is with all of God's
people. It's called grace before grace.
I've heard you say that so many times, and every man I know has
repeated it. Grace before grace. Now that
the Lord begins to operate on somebody in His sovereign providence,
mercy, electing grace, and sovereign providence, bringing them from
where they are, making them like those men, discontent, in debt,
in distress, and seeking for something they don't know what.
Not that woman at the well in John 4. She was seeking and didn't
know it. The Lord said, I am found of
them that sought me not. And only those of you His wife
know what that means. And He brought you in His sovereign
providence to the well. To the well. Water of life. All women didn't go there, but
some did. Bless God. Bless the Lord, O
my soul. It all is within me. Bless His
holy name. Some blessed women are brought to the well. And
who's sitting there? It's just a man. No saint. The
Son of God Himself. Calling His bride, calling His
wife. She's just come to draw water, and she doesn't know The
Lord's drawing her. Drawing her. You see, this is
no new story. Wait a minute, this is an old
one. And Christ later, that's the new one. Oh no. No, this
is Christ here too. This is about Him too. It's all
about Him. Where that servant realizing his inability, realizing
the great responsibility been given him, realizing, having
a heavy burden on his shoulder, his mission to preach the Son,
realizing something of his inability, wanting greatly, desiring a wife
for the Son, wanting so badly for that woman to hear him and
come. And he knows he can't do it. Nothing he can say or do will
bring her to love and marry a man she cannot see. And go and leave her father and mother
and leave the world and go in search of and travel a long way
to marry a man she's never even seen before. So what does he do? Oh, Lord,
God. Here I am at the well of water,
and it's time. At the time. Today is the day
of Sabbath. It's time. Every season, every
thing, there's a season, a time. Right now, the well of water,
the gospel of the water of life is being prayed. Oh, Lord, I
pray Thee. I pray thee, send me good speech. Get glory to yourself. Glorify
your Son. I stand here and there are daughters
out there that don't know you. Let it come to pass, verse 14,
that the damsel to whom I shall say, let down thy picture, I
pray thee, that I may drink, and she shall say, drink. And
I'll give you camels. Let that be the one appointed
for thy servant Isaac. And I'll know that you did it.
If you do this, I'll know it were wasn't me. It was the Lord. Oh, Lord. The water of life. Christ being preached. Oh, my. Daughters of men are
here. Sons of men, unbelievers sitting
right now listening to my voice, if that's all they hear, Lord,
they won't see any beauty in Christ if they desire Him. They
will not see anything in Him. They will not come to Christ.
And many have sat and listened for a long time and have not
come to Christ. They haven't let down their picture. Lord, please. I pray thee, for
your glory, make someone hear, make someone believe, make someone
desire the Lord Jesus Christ and save their eternal soul.
And behold, in verse 15, Rebecca came out. While he was saying
it, Rebecca came out. One woman,
chosen, called, brought. Brought to hear this messenger. Brought to hear this man. Brought
to hear his message by the sovereign mercy and grace of God. It says
in verse 16, you'll like this, the damsel was very fair and
to look upon a virgin. Neither had any man known her. You know, like I said, no type
or picture is perfect, and that's not the bride that the Lord finds. The one that the Lord finds is
like Gomer. The wife of the Lord Jesus Christ
is like Rahab. The wife of the Lord Jesus Christ,
whom He sends His servant to preach the gospel to, is like
Mary Magdalene, the thief on the cross. Like the woman at
the well, she's been married. She's been so abused by so many
men, she's just sitting on the ground like that woman in Isaiah. But God. You know what God calls her?
You know how God has viewed that forlorn woman since the beginning
of time? Do you know what God says about
that wretched sinner? who has sold herself, himself,
all those years to pleasure. Do you know what God says about
him? He says he's holy, unblameable, and unreprovable. He's fair. A virgin! A virgin! Stand! That's what
it says in Revelation about every one of God's people. They're
virgins! Christ doesn't want someone that's
given to every man. No, no. So He, the Holy Spirit,
makes them all fall in love with Christ. And when they do, you
see, they've been married many times perhaps. But no, not really.
Not really. Their real husband is the Lord
Jesus Christ. You know, when I think about
a young girl who the Lord kept and took early on, And the man
she finally married was the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. Oh, and
I pray the Lord will keep our young girls from being abused by men that don't
love Christ, will promise them the moon, tell them lie after
lie, and from Satan's ministers, preachers who lie to them. Oh,
may the Lord keep them from men like He did Ruth. Remember what
Boaz said about Ruth? He said, I've given my men charge
over there. I told them not to touch him.
And the only reason you're not in false religion right now,
the only reason you're not following an evil man and a seducer right
now is because your husband said, don't let them touch her. She's
mine. I have betrothed her to me as
a chaste virgin. When I see her, I'm going to
see her spotless, white and pure without one sin on her, and I'm
going to ravish her with my love and she with me. The first man
she's ever known. Isn't that beautiful? Lord, spare our daughters. a
fair virgin. Lo and behold, Rebecca came and
she said, she said everything that the servant hoped she would
say. She said everything that the servant prayed to the Lord
that she would say. And you know, when God saves
his people. They come out of religion, they
come out of the gutter, they come out of every place. He brings
them out of every place. And when the Lord begins to deal
with them, when the Lord brings them to hear the truth, the Lord
puts right thoughts in their hearts, right thoughts in their
minds, and right words come out of their mouth from then on.
They start saying the right thing. They start talking about sin.
They've never talked about it before. They start talking about
grace. They never were interested before.
They start talking about mercy. They never knew they needed it
before. Now that's all they can talk about. And they say exactly.
And it's a marvel and it's a wonder when you hear somebody start
talking about those things, don't you? When you hear one of the
daughters of man, one of the sons of Adam, start talking about
God's glory and God's mercy and grace to them, isn't it wonderful? You never heard that out of their
mouth before. And she said all that her servant
hoped that she would say in verse 20. I've got to hurry. She hasted
and emptied her picture and ran again to the well to draw and
drew it. She hasted. She ran. You know, when the Lord
starts dealing with somebody, you don't have to drag them to
hear the gospel. They'll run. This is how you
know. This is how you know the Lord's
dealing with this This young lady. She's here on her own. He's here on his own. He's not
here because somebody brought her or him. He's here because
he doesn't even know what he's here for. But you brought him.
You brought her. Oh, my. She ran. She hasted.
He that believeth, make haste. Oh, my. This is too... Everything
else can wait. And the man, verse 21, wondering
at her, held his peace. To whet whether the Lord had
made his journey prosperous or not. This servant wondered, is
this the one? Sure seems like it. Oh my, he
had hope. It sure seems like the Lord has
answered my prayer and this young lady may be the one for Isaac. He wondered, he marveled, but
yet he waited. He held his breath. Don't want
to be disappointed. Don't want to give a false refuge.
She might be a gold digger. When you start bringing out these
jewels, she might be, oh, yeah, I've always wanted to be married.
Ooh, look at that. He didn't put these jewels on
her until she told him who she was. We don't cast our pearls before
swine. And we don't beg people. We don't try to, you know, as
badly as I want, our sons and daughters to believe and know
Christ. And I could get a profession
out of it. And these evil men that do that
are worse than child molesters. They are. But we're waiting on
the Holy Spirit. We're waiting to see if God's
doing this. You know, I've baptized some
people and it turned out they wasn't real. And I hate that
worse than anything. I hate worse than anything. Nothing
I'd rather see than somebody confess Christ. But we're going
to wait and see. We're going to hope in His mercy
we'll hold our peace. And we're not going to do anything.
We don't have to. We don't have to do anything.
Don't strike while the iron's hot. There ain't no iron. God,
if God's working, they're going to come. And so that's why we
don't reach out, you know, people come in new and say, oh, well,
let's go include them. Let's do this and let's make
them. Well, that's fine. We'd be friendly and love them.
But we want them to fall in love with Jesus Christ. That's what
we want. And what I'm looking for and
hoping and praying for is that when I go back to that door and
somebody comes back for the first time, I see light in their eyes,
and I see glory in their face and their countenance. And I
see that their ears have been opened, and I see that they say
to me, they don't know what to say,
but that was good. Oh, I needed that. That gospel,
oh my, you reckon the Lord has mercy on a sinner like me? That's
what I'm waiting to hear. And I can tell them, yes, the
life to show mercy. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ
and thou shalt be saved. Confessing. Get in that baptismal
pool and tell all the world, this is your husband. This is
your Lord. And then when they get in that
pool, I'll rejoice and hope. We hope for the best, but we've
told our people. Told our people. And he said, whose daughter art
thou? Verse 23. Tell me, I pray thee. Is there
room in thy father's house for us to lodge in? Jeanette, this
is something I never saw before. Her father is nowhere around. Bethuel? I think he's dead. Because she said she went to
her mother's house. Where's her father? He's dead.
My father's dead. Here's the picture. Who are you? Who am I? I'm a son of Adam. My father died, and I died in
him. I'm just a nobody from nowhere. Just one of many of the sons
of men who come to draw water. Who am I? Nobody. And that's what the sermon was
waiting to hear. Yeah, I'm just a sinner. I'm just a sinner. I'm a nobody. All I'm doing is
coming to draw water." And she said, well, we have room for
you though, like Rahab who received the spies. This woman said, I'm
glad you're here. Yes, you can come home with us. And then he bowed, Abraham's
servant. He took those jewels. Pearls,
gold and silver and precious stones, a jewel for her forehead
is what it was. Not ears, but her forehead. Right
there in the middle of her forehead. What jewel was it? I'm pretty
sure it was a pearl. Right between her eyes. A white
stone. And the Lord said, I'll give
to all my bride, my wife. He gave it and he said, he bowed
his head, verse 26, and worshiped the Lord. Oh, if God reveals Christ to
us, to one of our own, oh, how we worship the Lord. That's what
we've been waiting on Him. Blessed be the God and Master,
the Lord God of my Master, Abraham, who hath not left destitute,
my Master, of His mercy is true. I was in the way. I did what
He told me to do, and blessed God, He did what He said He would
do. to the house of my master's brother.
And this damsel ran. As I said, I think she dropped
her bucket and ran off. What did she do? To tell her
family what great things she'd just heard. Is that your story? Well, there's
so much more here. Her brother came and saw him
He said, come home with us. And verse 33, they set meat before
him to eat, the servant. They set a big spread before
him. And he said, I will not eat until I have told my Aaron. The servant, the preacher of
the gospel is not here to socialize. He's not here to just
fellowship around a table. He's here to do one thing. Not
socialize, organize, but to preach the gospel. And he said, I am
Abraham's servant. The Lord hath blessed my master
greatly. He's great. He's given him flocks
and herds and silver and gold and men's servants and maid's
servants and asses, camels and asses. And Sarah, my master's
wife, bare a son to my master when she was old, a miracle son.
And unto him hath Abraham given all that he hath. Who do you
reckon he's preaching? God. God. The earth is the Lord's
in the fullness thereof. The world inhabitants thereof.
Everything. God who created all things, by
whom are all things, for whom are all things, to whom are all
things. God blessed forever. Our great God. And our great
God sent his only begotten, well-beloved, blessed Son into this earth.
The Lord Jesus Christ, made of a woman, miracle son, born of
a virgin, made of a woman, made under the law to redeem them
that are under the law. And because He did that, because
Jesus Christ poured out His soul unto death, God has given Him
a name which is above every name. God has made Him greater than
all the sons of men, that at the name of Jesus every knee
will bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord to the glory
of God the Father. And God has given Him all things,
all power in heaven and earth, Christ said, All authority is
given unto me in heaven and earth. All people, all places, all things
are given unto me. Paul wrote this in Ephesians
1. He said, He is far above all principality and power and might
and dominion in every name that is named, not only in this world,
but also in that which is to come, and has put all things
under His feet and gave Him, this Lord over all, to the church. as her husband. Oh my! Rebecca just doesn't know. She just doesn't know. He sounds
too good to be true. She's falling in love with him.
She wants to go. Because they tried to keep the
servant, and he told the story again, and again, And down in
verse 54, they ate and drank and tarried all night and rose
up in the morning. And the servants said, we've
got to go. We've got to leave here. And her brother and her mother
said, let her stay a while. What they really meant was, we
don't want her to go at all. Now they're having second thoughts.
They don't want her to go at all. But people, when God That's
why Paul said, Bless God who hath chosen us and called us
and sanctified us. Set us apart by His Holy Spirit. Nothing and no one can keep someone
from coming to Christ. They're going to come. They're
going to come. The family will try to dissuade us. And he said unto them, hinder
me not. And they said, well, we'll call her. Verse 57, we'll
call her and inquire her mouth. The servant never did ask her. He never did say, would you please,
do you really want? He never did do that. He just
preached. He just declared Abraham and Isaac. And the preacher of
the gospel. We don't have to confront people
one on one. We'd just stand up and preach
the gospel and wait. The Lord said, I'll call them.
And most of the time, we, you know, we being ignorant, we'll
aim at somebody. Well, she needs this. And she
might not even be there. Or she's there and doesn't hear
it. Lo and behold, right over here,
one that he sent to hear it. And they inquired of her. And
Rebecca, they said, We'll inquire of her. And they called Rebekah
unto her and said unto her, verse 58, Wilt thou go with this man? And she said, I will go. That's amazing. Wait a minute now. You're going
to go. You're going to leave your home,
your mother, your father, your mother, and your sisters and
brothers, and your home that you've spent so much time. You're going to leave everybody.
And it's a long journey. You know that? It's a long journey
from here back to Abraham and Isaac. Long journey. It took
a long time. You're going to leave all this
comfort and go through a pilgrimage, of sorrows and troubles and tribulations. You're going to go through all
that to go and marry a man you've never seen before? On the word
of this fellow, this old man here? You're going to believe
this fellow and go marry somebody you've never seen before? You've
fallen for it? Well, that's a miracle. Isn't that a miracle? I never
get over it. I really never get over it. I
look at some of you. I look at myself. But I look
at some of you, and some of you have no background in religion.
Or some of you are steeped in it. And a man, a poor, who had
this treasure in earthen vessels, just preaches and lo and behold,
God breaks down all that kills Dagon Make some leave father
and mother to cleave to Christ? It's just amazing. It's just
amazing. That's how I know it's a blur. That's how I know. Oh,
my. I'll go. God's people will be
willing in the day of His power. And look at the close of it.
They wished her well, said the blessings of God be upon you.
In verse 61, Rebecca arose. And you have to equip it. and
her damsels. You know, I'll tell you one reason
why there were ten camels. Rebecca's not the only one that
came back. There was a bunch of you ladies.
A bunch of them. You know that? Psalm 45 says,
let me read this. This is good. Psalm 45 says, The king's daughter is all glorious
within. Her clothing is of wrought gold.
She will be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework. The virgins, her companions that
follow her, they'll be brought too. There's room for more. There's ten camels. Come on. Come on. Will you go with me?
Will you? And she came and rose and he
rode upon the camels and followed that man. Can you follow a man?
If he's going to Christ, you can. If he's pointing you to
Christ, because the servant took Rebekah and went his way, where
was he going? Straight to Isaac. He's not going
this way or that way. He's going to point her straight
to Isaac. And so they went. Oh, look at
this. And Isaac came. Here he comes. He went out in verse 63 to meditate
in the field at eventide. He was a praying man. He always
prayed, meditated, went out into the field. This great heir of
all things went out into the field. And our Lord, heir of
all, oh my, He came into this field and He ever lives to make
intercession for his people. And it says, he lifted up his
eyes and he saw, behold, the camels are coming. He saw them
first. You know, folks, and this is
another old wives' fable, tale. They say St. Peter is going to
meet us at the pearly gates. That's not so. Jesus Christ is. My husband. Would you send
somebody else to bring your bride in that you haven't seen in years?
No, sir. The Lord Himself shall appear
in heaven to meet us. He's bringing everybody with
Him, but He's going to appear. He's going to be the first one
we see. When by His grace I shall look
on His face, that will be glory. Oh, my. And someone brought up
the fact that they've traveled a long ways. What do you reckon
they were talking about? What do you reckon Rebecca wanted
to know about? Isaac. I'm going to marry this man whom
she's fallen in love with. Tell me some more about him.
And those who love Christ can't get enough of hearing about him. So the man who knows Christ,
he preaches Christ. The man who himself, the bridegroom,
the friend of the bridegroom who loves his boy, he's out to
tell the bride about the bridegroom. Because he himself loves him. And so he declares him. He doesn't
get tired of telling him that. Oh, my master is great. So merciful
and kind and gracious and loving and altogether lovely. And just
wait until you see him. I think I see him a little bit.
Just wait. And Rebecca. Verse 64, lifted
up her eyes, and she saw Isaac. She hid there. And she said, who is that? She saw this glorious man. This
man with great dignity and honor and the way he carried himself.
He's counting the Lord Jesus Christ when we see him. But I can't talk about it. Who
is that? We won't have to ask, will we?
What man is this? That's what the disciples said
when they saw something of His glory. What manner of man is
this? And He came for us. She came down at His feet, and
the servant said, That's my master. That's whoever. been trying to
tell you about. She would have said, Robin, you
didn't nearly describe him as this. You didn't come close,
but I'm glad you told me what you knew. And the servant told
Isaac all things that he had done, and Isaac brought her into
his mother Sarah's tent. That's a sacred place. A special place that was being
reserved for the bride of the only begotten son. To consummate that marriage,
that intimate union where they both became one inseparably forever. Oh my! Brought her in and took
Rebecca. That is, he embraced her. He
hugged her. Brought her to himself. kissed
her with the kisses of his mouth. It was a time of love and nobody
is going to separate them ever again. And he loved her as his own soul
and loved her to the end. Who is that? A greater than Isaac. The Lord Jesus Christ. Oh, comfort. Isaac was comforted after His
mother's death. And our Lord said He'll see the
travail of His soul and be satisfied. He'll see His seed. He'll see
His wife. They'll all come. There won't
be one of them missing. Blessed be the God, the Son of
God, who sought us, who bought us, who taught us, who brought
us, brought us into His Father's house, loved us, loved us to
the end, received us unto Himself, His beloved, eternal bride, the
Lamb's wife. Blessed be His name. Okay. Let's sing a closing hymn. Number
