Romans chapter 9, if you heard
the radio this morning, you'll know that's what we preached
from. And I felt impressed to bring it here. It's not the very
same message, not at all. It's the same truth. Let's read verses 11 through
16 again. Romans 9, verses 11 through 16. for the children being not yet
born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose
of God according to election might stand, not of works, but
of him or God that calleth. It was said unto her, The elder
shall serve the younger, as it is written, Jacob have I loved,
but Esau have I hated." What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness
with God? God forbid. For he saith to Moses,
I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion
on whom I will have compassion. So then, it is not of him that
willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy."
Salvation is by sovereign mercy. to the glory of God, to the glory
of his sovereignty, to the glory of his sovereign mercy. Now,
the glory of God is what we are all about. Why is it that you hear grace preachers, true Why do you hear them continually
preach on and insist upon the sovereignty of God, always
talking about these same things? Why? Why do you hear true preachers
always talking about God electing a people, God predestinating
of people, of Christ's particular, successful, finished work. Why? Because, number one, God's
Word declares it. Number two, God insists that
we declare it. He said to Isaiah, get up on
a high place and you say unto all flesh, behold your God, and
all flesh is grass. Because God and Christ are glorified
in this message and this message alone. Because there is no salvation
in any other message. That's why. That's why. All preaching,
listen very carefully, all preaching, all doctrine must answer to this
question. Must take this acid test, all
preaching, all doctrine, every message must answer to this question,
does it give God all the glory? I don't mean part of it, all
of it, from start to finish. From the purposing of it to the
applying of it to the Does it give God all the glory? A-double-L,
all the glory. No matter what it is. Repentance,
faith, good works, whatever it may be. Does it give God all
the glory? Whatever is of God. The message
from God and God's preachers gives God all the glory. That's
how you may know the doctrine. Turn with me to Isaiah 43, Isaiah
chapter 43, and you read this with me before. Isaiah 43. Now, God's glory, God's glory
is what this is all about. God's glory, God's creative glory,
that's why he created this planet, to show forth his power and creation. Who can make what has been made
but God? His creative glory is seen. His sovereign ownership. Cannot
I do with my own what I will? That's what it means to be creator. His control over all things,
that's what a creator is. He's the potter, we're the clay. Clay has no say. He's the potter with the clay.
His sovereign rights as God are his glory. You understand? His creative glory, his power,
the glory of his wisdom. Do you not see the wisdom of
God in creation and the way things are made as they are made? Do
you not see the wisdom of God? What would you change? What can
be approved upon? Our God is all-wise in his creative
glory. Do you not see the purpose of
God? Do you not see the will of God in all things? He worketh
all things after the counsel of his own will. Things are continuing
as they were from the beginning. Yes, they are. Why? Because that's
the will of God. Do you not see his glory there?
Don't you? writes as God, the glory of his
sovereign mercy, grace and love, the glory of God's Son, his sovereign person, his sovereign
power. He came down here and displayed
some of that glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the
Father, full of grace and truth, declared to be the Son of God
with power and glory, who is God-blessed forever. You now see his glory, the glory
of that God-man who came here, the glory of his finished work
and what that's all about. That's what this book is all
about. That's what this planet is all about. That's what you
are all about. That's what I am all about. That's
the reason for our existence. The glory of the sovereign Creator,
Ruler, Judge, his sovereign Son, his Spirit, the display of his
sovereign glory in all things, the reason God created human
beings. and the purpose for existence
of human beings is to show forth his glory in creation and in
salvation. And he'll never share it with
his creature. Count on it that when man starts
building a tower to heaven, God will tear it down and get confusing. Man's going to create life. God's
going to destroy life is what's going to happen. Count on it.
Just at the time when man thinks he is God, and now he's going
to be God and do what God does, God will kill them all, except
his chosen ones. You can count on that. It's always
been that way. Get ready. Get ready for it. Man has approached, man is building
his Babylonian tower. The glory of God is what God
does, what God reveals to every object of his saving purpose.
Every son of Adam whom God has purposed to save, this is what
he reveals to them, above all and in all, his glory. If you listen this morning, you'll
hear glory. You can count on it. That's what
this whole message is about, the glory of God. That's what salvation is all
about. If you've been saved, you've beheld his glory. This is what the elect people
are interested in. This is what God's people are
taken up with. This is what the people of God,
the true people of God, declare without end. This is what every
single saved, redeemed person in glory right now is doing,
singing to the praise of his glory. Not on us, not on us,
not on us, not on the man, not on the woman of faith, not on
Not by works of righteousness as we have done, unworthy, unworthy,
unworthy, but thou art worthy. Unto him be glory, unto him be
the praise, unto him be the honor, unto God be all the glory, strength,
praise, honor, blessing, everything belongeth unto the Lord. That's
what all the redeemed are saying, here and here. That's what it's
all about. That's why he created this ball
of dirt and the little ants that crawl on it, to show forth his
glory. And that's what God's people
are interested in. That's what the preacher is interested
in. That's what the hearer is interested in. That's what God's
sons are interested in, his glory. Anything that is not for his
glory, anything that gets in the way of his glory, anything
that shares his glory, they don't like it. They detest it. Like a child with his father
who is bigger, stronger, faster, more glorious than any father.
He challenges you to try him. Oh, the zeal of his glory eats
them up. These elect people, that's what
they're interested in, that's what they're taken up with. As
I said, those in heaven, those on earth, declaring the glory
of God. There is not in their minds, there is not in the minds
or hearts of God's people one single doubt about who God is. Man, as God's people, have one
single shadow of a doubt—who God is, who the Sovereign One
is, who's in control, who can do his will. Not one single doubt,
Brother Samuel, is there? Samuel? Paul? John, you biblical
people? Is there any doubt? No, sir. Not one shadow of a
doubt, because with him there's no shadow of turning. Not one single dot in the minds
of God's elect who God is, because John 6.45 says they'll all be
taught of God. They'll all be taught of God.
God's the one who teaches them. What's he teach them? He's God. What's he teach them? That they're
nothing. That they're flesh. That which is flesh is flesh.
and receives all its life, all its strength, all its power,
its will, its everything. It's God's work within us, both
to will and to do anything. He teaches them all their flesh,
and flesh is nothing, vanity. And he teaches every one of them.
All they're taught of the Father runs to Christ. Brother Tom Harding
preached from Isaiah 55, which said, And to hear this will run to
him. Run. Run away from the world like
old John Bunyan's pilgrim, with their fingers in their ears,
don't want to hear any more of this stuff. Run crying, Christ,
Christ is my eternal life. These elect people, none of their
minds, their hearts, there's no doubt whatsoever. They had
the glory of God revealed to them, in them, rather. Their eyes had been opened, yes,
their eyes had been opened. They see in every line of every
page of scripture, they see the sovereign glory of God Almighty. Pick a verse and God's people
will show you his glory. They bow to it, they believe
it, they love it. That's what they're all about.
Because it glorifies the God they love. He must give the glory. They're not in religion for what
they can get out of God. They're in it for what glory
they can give him. Did you hear me? God's people
are not in religion for what they can get out of some sugar
daddy that are in this thing for the glory of God. Yes, to the man, to the woman,
to the young person. No exceptions. Glory of God. Look at Isaiah
43, 7. He says, Everyone that is called
by my name. Verse 7, I have created him for
my glory. I have formed him. Yes! I made
him. What's he talking about? You
know, God only made one human being. Huh? God made one human being from
the dust of the earth. Adam. We came forth from the
seed of Adam. What's that talking about? Everyone
that's called by my name, I made him. Remade him. Regenerated him. made him my
son." This is talking about spiritual life.
They're all born dead. He makes every one of his spiritual
sons. Yes, he does. It's his seed. He makes them. He begets them,
every one of them, by the incorruptible seed, the word of God. And this
is the word which, by the gospel, Oh, this is a wonderful subject,
is it not? But you know, tragically, over
in Romans, do you want to turn there, Romans chapter 1? Tragically,
the world, the creatures which God made, the very creatures
which God made. Now, mankind. We're talking about
mankind. God did make mankind. He's the
creator of mankind, and there's not one person born that God
didn't decree it through the means of natural process. You
understand? All right? The creatures which
he hath made, mankind, sadly, tragically, blasphemously changed,
Paul said, changed the glory of God. And here in Romans 1, that's
what this whole chapter is about. not glorifying God as God. You want to know what Romans
1 is all about? That's what it's about. It's
about man not glorifying God as God. Romans chapter 1. Look
at it with me. Romans chapter 1. It says, verse
19, Because that which may be known
of God is manifest in them, their very bodies show God created,
God hath showed it unto them, the invisible things of God from
the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood
by the things that are made, his eternal power and Godhead,
Creator, so that they are without excuse, but because that when
they knew God, that is, they had to understand that as a Creator,
they glorified him not as God, as Creator. Neither were thankful. They don't believe God made everything. They don't believe God gave them
everything they had. So they weren't thankful. And
they refused to believe. And you know how it's degenerated. Into a universal belief in some
natural process of evolution. Right? That's just universally
held. Is it not? But they professed themselves
to be wise, became fools, and changed the
glory of the incorruptible God. It's interesting to me. It just
occurred to me, a thought just crossed my mind, how the modern man in all his technology
and all his education and all his newfound wisdom and all,
knowledge, is seeking to become more enlightened. You hear the
term all the time, he's a spiritual person. He's spiritual, he's
real spiritual. And do you know that they're
giving credence to, or that is they're giving some validity to, they say that some
truth in the most pagan and ridiculous notions going on today, like
old ancient Indian rites. Everybody's taken up with all
the old ancient Indian rites. There must be something in there. Everybody becomes real spiritual
and they sit on, you know, practice this and that and the other and
meditation and yoga and so forth. They will acknowledge everything with the God of the Bible. They will They will give glory to, they will attribute everything to anything
but a person, a sovereign creator whom they must answer to and
who does what he will with whom he will. Anything. And their wisdom, their knowledge
has become so utterly foolish that they actually believe that
this glorious thing called creation came from a bowl of soup. That's
it. I'm serious. They call it primordial slime,
if you want the technical, scientific term for the bowl primordial
slime. Professing themselves to be wise,
they became fools and changed the glory of God, his creation. David said, Oh, the Father has
disclosed his glory, the Father will show up his handiwork, the
things that are made. He said, I am spiritually and
wonderfully made. When I consider the heavens,
I say, what is man? A dour and mindful of him. and that you would visit him,
the son of man, the God-man, the most glorious thing of all,
what the angels desire to look into. So when God became man,
they looked down and said, what a holy thing, what a marvelous
thing, you creatures of earth, why he came here for you. Aren't
you marveling at this? That's just Jesus. You fools,
you bunch of fools. But to some elect, according
to his foreknowledge, he peels back that veil, that wrapper,
some worms. He reveals his glory as the only
begotten. God predestinated these. God
foreordained these people to show forth his glory, and they
will glorify him. How? How do they glorify him? by giving him all the glory. Are you with me? By giving him
all the glory. That's what it's all about. Preach this last Wednesday. By
God's grace, it will be the next hundred Wednesdays. There is
no other message. That's what this book is all
about. That's why I'm breathing. That's why I'm up here. God said
that, who was it was, he said, get up there and show my verity,
don't I make a rock for it? Didn't he? I don't need you, but you better
say what I tell you. Don't go out begging worms. Don't you dare say what I didn't
say. You say what I said exactly like I said it. Behold your to the glory. Look at Exodus
33. I'd better get to this fast.
Exodus 33. All right? Turn with me. If you've
never seen this, you'd better turn. You just might see his
glory. This is where Moses first saw
it. Exodus 33. This is where Moses first saw
his glory. And people, everyone in here,
if you're going to be saved, listen to me now. If you are
saved, if you're going to be saved, you will see what Moses
saw right here. Now, Moses didn't see a vision
in Exodus 33. He didn't see an apparition. He didn't see a sign or a wonder.
He didn't see a material object. He didn't see a statue bleeding
tears or bleeding blood. But he saw God's glory. This is my favorite chapter in
all the book, and I ain't lying. Exodus 33. Now, listen to it. Grab the pew. Barnard used to
say, grab ahold of the pew, you're going to jump a niche. I just love somebody to jump
the pew. at seeing his glory. I did, we did, didn't we, when
we first heard this glorious message of the glorious God and
the glorious Son of God and his glorious gospel? It's just glory. This is what
it means to be glorified. We don't have to wait for glory
to be glorified. God has glorified everyone in
here who has had the glory of God revealed to them. Look at it, Moses said in verse
12, let's read verses 12 through 18, Moses said unto the Lord,
he's praying to the Lord, see thou sayest unto me, bring up
this people, and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send
with me, yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou
hast also found grace in my sight. That's what God said to Moses,
I know you by name and you've found grace in my sight. Now therefore I pray thee, Moses
said, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, show
me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy
sight, and consider, take into account that this nation is thy
people. And God said, My presence shall
go with thee, I will give thee rest. And Moses said unto him, If thy
presence go not with me, carry us not up hence. For wherein
shall it be known here, that I and thy people have found grace
in thy sight? Is it not in that thou goest
with us? So shall we be separated, I and
thy people, sanctified from all the people there upon the face
of the earth. The Lord said unto Moses, I will
do this thing also that thou hast spoken, that is, show you
my way. For thou hast found grace in
my sight, and I know thee by name. And Moses said, I beseech thee,
show me thy glory. Show me your glory." Now, this is the thirty-third
chapter of Exodus. The children of Israel began,
the Exodus began in the first chapter. Several years prior to this,
Moses and the people saw much, didn't they? God's miraculous,
marvelous power. They saw God's, the plagues,
remember all the plagues that God cast upon Egypt. They saw God's judgment against
the Egyptians. They saw a marvelous deliverance
in the Passover. Blood on the door. God killed
every newborn that didn't have the blood over the door. They saw God's sea. They saw God in marvelous, creative
power open a way in an ocean, a sea, a red sea, where they
might pass over on dry land that had never been seen before or
never been done before. parting the waters, and the people
went over on dry land, mud on their shoes, and saw all their enemies follow
them and be drowned in the sea. And in their journeys through
the wilderness, they saw God rain bread from heaven. They saw bread come down. They didn't shoot a bow or an
arrow, throw a stone or a spear. or go hunting for one morsel
of food, God rained bread from heaven. You understand that? God made bread fall from the
sky. It's glorious. They were thirsty after a while.
They were out in the middle of the desert. And there was a rock
sitting there. And Moses, through God's command,
struck the rock with a stick, and water gushed forth from the
rock. A fountain started flowing from that rock, and that rock
followed them the rest of their days. Isn't that glorious? Moses saw this. Glory. Glory of the Creator. Then Moses one day saw a mountain
that burned with fire, but was not consumed. He said, I'm going
to go up and look at that. And he went up there and there
was a bush burning, but it was not consumed. He heard the voice
of God calling him out of the bush. Glory! And many other displays of God's
sovereign glory and power. But Moses says, show me your
glory. Did you hear that? Moses says
he's seen all of this. Now, to the average worldling,
that's it. That's all they need to see.
But they haven't seen God's glory. Moses had not yet seen God's
way. God's glory. Are you with me? Show me thy way. Your will. Your purpose. Your man. That's
what your way is. Whatever your way is, is your
will, your purpose, your mind, the way you are, the way you're
going, the way you think, the way you do, the way you act.
Your way, your way. See that? Show me your glory, your person. I want to see your essential
self. I'm interested in knowing more about the God than just one love? Brother Dan, that does not answer
so many questions, does it, huh? Why is there hell? God is love. That doesn't explain that. Why did the Son of God come and
die? Why did God make that bloody piece of meat out of His only
Son? God is love. He said to his wife, he said,
Honey, I love you. And he takes a gun out and kills
himself. I love you. I'm going to show you how much
I love you. I'm going to kill myself. You don't love her. You left
her with all the bills and responsibility. You loved yourself. You wanted
out of your misery. You left her in misery. You didn't
love her. But God commendeth his love toward
us, and while we were yet sinners, Christ died. Why? What does that
mean? How come? How can you explain
that with love? You can't. You cannot understand why the
Son of God came down here and died the way he did, why he came
here at all, apart from seeing the glory of God. All the glory
of God. Stay with me. Moses said, I want
to know you. God never mentioned love here. Did He? Did He? I'll give you
a $500 bill if you'll show me for it. Now, show me your glory,
Moses said. I want to know your essential
person. I want to know what you're really
like. I want to know who you are, what you're like, what you're
all about, what everything is all about, why you do what you
do. What you do and why you do it, I want to know your glory. He does it all for his glory.
What is your glory? Are you ready for the answer?
Look at verse 19. Our Lord said, I will make all
my goodness pass before thee. You see, God alone is good. There is none good But God, in
my flesh dwelleth no good thing. In everything that I am, every
characteristic of me, there's some bad in it, some sin in it. So there is none that doeth absolutely
perfectly good, no, not one. But God says everything about
me is good. Everything I am, everything I
do is good. And I'm going to make it all
pass before you. You're going to see all of my
goodness. You see my goodness in creation? Huh? You see my
goodness in providence? Huh? You see that? Wait till
you see my goodness in salvation. I'm going to make all my goodness
pass before you. Have you seen Moses, how I provided
for you, how I spared you, how I did all these things for you?
I'm going to make all my goodness pass before you. You're going
to know why those people are called my people. It's called
electing goodness. You're going to know why there
is spare to no one else. It's called merciful goodness.
You're going to know why I'm going to do everything for them
and do nothing for the rest of these. It's called gracious goodness.
I'm going to make all my goodness pass before you. You understand
that? I've never understood that until now. Everything I do is
good. I'm going to make it all pass
before you. God's good providence, God's
good mercy, God's good grace, God's good love, God's good everything. It's good. Whatever God does
is good. He works with all things together
for what? Good! Because he's the good God. I'm going to make all my character,
all that is good about me, look at this, verse 19, believe on Jesus, the name Jesus
is not here, is it? There is a fellow named
Joshua listening to this. The name Jesus wasn't until how
many thousands of years later. What is the name of the Lord? At the name of Jesus, every knee
is going to bow and every tongue is going to confess that he is
Lord. To the what? Glory of God the Father. What
is his name? Look at chapter 34, verse 36. The Lord passed by before Moses
and proclaimed, The Lord, the, capital T, H-E, the, Lord. I'm going to proclaim the name
of the Lord. Barbara Ross, we believe that Jesus is Lord. Now, Barbara, we're not saying
that with our lips. We believe in our hearts, don't
we? We're not saying it in theory,
in principle. He is Lord. You understand? He is Lord. Well, it means Lord, in sovereign,
in control. Read on. The Lord God, the Creator,
the Lord Jesus Christ is none other than God manifest in the
flesh. Now, let's look back at chapter 33, and I've got to get to the heart of it. Verse
19. He said, I'm going to proclaim the name of the Lord before thee.
God's people They see his glory in his name, the Lord Jesus Christ. They have meanings. Those names
have meaning, each one of them. They mean what they say. And
he says, here's my glory, Moses, here it is. Is everybody looking
with me? I will be gracious to whom I
will be gracious, and will show mercy. on whom I will show mercy. God's glory is in his grace and
his mercy, in his sovereign grace and sovereign mercy. I will be
gracious. What does that mean? I'm going
to give salvation. You're not going to earn it.
Nobody can earn it. Nobody can climb the mountain
and be consumed. Nobody, can't touch it, can't
get near it. But they're going to keep the law. I'm going to
write my law on their hearts. I'm going to make it so that
they have kept the law perfectly. I'm going to be gracious. I'm
going to give them every single jot and tittle of salvation. I'm going to perform it all for
them. I am. I will be gracious. I, the Lord God, am going to
come down to this earth and live thirty-three years as a man,
and establish the law, and give that perfect righteousness every
one of my people so that when I see them, they are going to
be righteous. Not in theory, but in actual
fact. And I'm going to suffer at the hands of my own judgment
and wrath and holiness. All of their sins are going to
be laid on me, the iniquity of them all. I'm going to pay for
every sin so that there will be not one sin to their charge. To whom I will be gracious. Who I decide, who I elect, who
I choose. None of them deserve it. Does
anybody deserve for God to come down and live in a cesspool?
For God to come down and die? You don't deserve to hear this
message. I will be merciful." This whole
planet still revolves because God is showing mercy to some. Not to all. None deserve it.
That's the reason every human being left on this planet, when
Christ appeared, is going to be destroyed. Done with you. That will be to the glory of
his justice and his holiness. And those whom he elected who
didn't deserve it, whom he will. who he willed to save, they're
going to be singing to high heaven, in high heaven, of his glorious
sovereign mercy and grace. More than a doctrine, it's the
reason they're there. His glory. And if every tongue
that professes his name doesn't give him A, double, L, all the
glory, they're not going to be in glory. I'm not going to be in glory. Show me your glory. I'm going
to make all my goodness pass before you. I'm going to proclaim
the name of the Lord before you. I will be gracious. I'm going
to give what they can't work, what they can't do. I'm going
to give it all. I'm going to give it all. And
they will not, they will not attribute anything to their work
to them. They'll say, Grace, if one word comes out of their
mouth, every one of my people that I show my glory to, it'll
be this, Grace. Grace will pour from their lips.
It'll be in every line, every syllable, everything they're
saying, Grace, Grace, Grace. Why do you say, Grace? Why do
you call, Grace? Why do you know this, Grace?
By the grace of God, I am what I am. And that will be to whom
I will. It's not of him that willeth
or him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy. I spared
them, and they know it. They deserve what the world deserves,
and I spared them, because I spared not my own son to the praise
of the glory of his grace. And that's going to be the theme
of their song, too. Mercy, mercy, mercy, mercy. That glorifies God. Let's bring
our closing in. Number thirty-four. Number thirty-four. Come up here. Number thirty-four. The glory
of God. Great Father of glory, pure Father
of light, thine angels adore thee, all veiling their sight,
all praise we would render, O help us to see. It's only the splendor
of life, I think. All right, stand with me. Immortal, invisible, God only
one. Enlightened, accessible, if from
our eyes. Most blessed, most glorious,
the Ancient of Days. Almighty Victoria, thy great
name we pray. Last verse. Great Father of glory,
dear Father of love, Thy angels adore Thee. The sight of ev'ry
woman and child, Oh, that I may see, is only the splendor of
Thy glory. you.
