All right, Colossians chapter
3. So very much believed here in
these verses. Much help for poor sinners like
we are. Now again, this is written to
believers. Written to believers, and he
says in verse 9 and 10, Lie not one to another, seeing that Or
since you have put off the old man with his deed, and have put
on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image
of him that created him, put off you, you have put off. You
have put off and have put on, you see. Now, every believer, every believer
at times wonders and asks themselves, have I? Have I really put off
the old man with his deeds? Have I really put on the new
man? Yes, you have. He states the fact here. It's like the attitude when our
Lord says, blessed are. He doesn't say, Blessed shall
be they if they mourn. Blessed are. And believers have
put off, now what does it mean to put off the old man? Did you
ask yourself that question? What it means is to despise him. Do you despise the old man? When
you put off something, it means you want to be done with it.
That's what it means. I want to be done with it. Despite,
it means to detest. It means to oppose. To oppose
the old man. Does the old man oppose you?
Do you oppose the old man? Do you deny the old man? Do you
just want to be done with it? Huh? That's what it means. Put
off. See, and you have. And though
the old man may hit the upper hand at times, And he does, and
every believer, at times, gets the upper hand. Yet the believer,
every believer, still puts him or her off. Believe me. You ever put somebody off? Huh? You know that term. Put them
off. In other words, you don't want to face that person, you
don't want to be with them, so you keep putting them off. Same
thing. Put off the old man. And put on, he says, you have
to put on the new name. What does that mean? Well, every
believer now has the righteousness of Christ imputed to them. Every single believer has had
the righteousness of Christ, that wedding garment, put on
them. We didn't put that on. We didn't
dress ourselves in that. The Lord, of God, are you in
Christ? Who of God is made unto us? Righteous. God did that. God dressed his
people in Christ's righteousness. But put on. When you put on something,
what do you do when you go in in the morning and open your
closet to put on some clothes? What do you do? You ladies in
particular. You just, you eat a mini-mango
and grab something? Not at all. I'm taking no time. I mean, what do I want to wear
today? Right? You seek, you consider,
and every believer, every believer, on hearing the gospel, And upon
hearing the gospel over and over again, it says, I want that.
Yes, I want that. And they hold on. They put up
their arms, you see. They lay hope. By faith, they
embrace. They say, yeah, I want that.
I want to be like Christ. I want to be mighty. I want to
be great. Give me that. That's a good one. Like David
said about Saul's soul, that's a good one. Let me have it. That's
what you do. Oh, you're so pretty. I want
to wear that. That's what it means to put on
the new man. And that new man, though he may not be so evident
to you, he is evident to other people. Is that not right? Do you not
see it in your breath? And you don't see it in your
sister. You see it in them. The more you're with them, the
longer you're around them. And in the gospel, you see growth
in one another. You see Christ's likeness in
one another. So that new man has been put
on without that. And so he says that as a matter
of fact. You have put on, and you have put on. All right, verse
ten, and he says, You have put on the new man which is renewed
in knowledge after the image of God that created him. Now,
notice who it is that created this new man. You see, this is
God's creation. Regeneration is God's work just
like creation. And someone brought this up,
interesting point. That it took God seven days,
six days, to create the world, to create this planet. It took
him thirty-three and a third years to establish the rightful place. Think about it. Which
is the greater work? Remember when Christ said, which
is easier? To say, God sends me, forgive
me, or take up your bed and walk? But he made the whole body of
man in one day. But it took him thirty-three
and a third years to produce. So it was God's work. It was
God's work. He who created the new man. All
right? He says we've been renewed in
knowledge. Been renewed in knowledge. Your
mind has been renewed. It was in darkness even as though
you were ignorant. Before gospel light shed abroad
in your heart, you were ignorant of God, ignorant of yourself,
ignorant of the scriptures, ignorant of salvation, and didn't care. But you've been renewed in knowledge.
You now have knowledge, saving knowledge, the Word which is
able to make thee wise unto salvation. Knowledge, the knowledge of Him. This is salvation, that they
might know thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ. And after
his image, it says in verse 10, after the image of God, every
believer has been recreated in the image of Christ, who is the
expressed image of God. Every believer bears Christ's
likeness. Every belief is Christ's Bible. All right, verse 11. He says where there is neither
in Christ, there's no Greek or Jew. There's no circumcision
or uncircumcision. In other words, there are no
distinctions. There are no outward distinctions. There are no fleshly
distinctions. There are no advantages. There are no... There's no respective
person in Christ. All are equal. No male or female
is certain of that. In heaven there will be no married
or given in marriage, no male or female. We'll all be female. Christ will be the eternal hymn. We're all a weaker vessel, and
he's our strength. So no distinction, no advantage,
we're all equal. All sinners saved by grace, so
Christ is all. And you're not. Now, right now,
verse twelve, in light of these things, he says, now here's an
injunction, here is something he tells us to do, and I entitle
this message, Spiritual Garments of the Elect of God. Verse twelve,
he says, "...put on, therefore, as the elect of God, holy and
beloved." You are holy. If you're the elect of God, you're
holy, if you are, and beloved. If you're the elect of God, it's
because He loved you before He knew you, before the world came,
set His love, loved you with an everlasting love. You're beloved,
you're beloved of God. Peter said that four times. His
last chapter is the second verse, Beloved, Beloved, Beloved. Beloved. Now he's the son of
God. Beloved. Beloved of God, foreloved of
God, and holy. In Christ we were considered
holy by God from the beginning. All right, he says to us, holy
and beloved, put on, therefore, as the elect of God, as befitting
the elect of God, as that which becometh the elect of God. as
that which the elect of God do indeed put on. Put on, therefore,
and then he lists several things, Christlike clothes to wear. See
if these don't appeal to you, okay? These spiritual garments,
see if they don't appeal to you. See if these aren't things you
would like to wear. Now, let me say this. I preface the whole message by
saying this is to believe. Once a child of God, once life
is created, once the mind of Christ is there, once life has
been created, They are children of God. They are no longer disobedient
to it, but obedient. They're no longer dead and trespassed
in sin. They're alive unto God through
Christ Jesus alone. They're no longer deaf to the
Word of God. They have their ears tuned to
it. They're no longer blind. They're no longer ignorant. And
they're no longer walking in darkness as others. None. The
Scriptures like that. So he talks to us as responsible. Are you with me? I've got a bunch
of blank faces tonight. I don't know why. Is it cool
up in here? This is all so very good and
verified. I'm tired of it all. Okay? We're responsible children of
God. Listen to this tonight as your
heavenly father instructing you. This is what you want you to
wear. This is what I want you to do. And a believer, now listen
to me. A living, a believer, a child
of God has choices. The dead sinner doesn't have
choices. They're men in sin, okay? But
the child of God does have choices. Just like Adam and Eve had a
choice between good and evil, so do does the child of God who
is regenerated. Right? For else he would not
give us these injunctions. Right? Else he would not treat
us as a child. Do this. Don't do this. Do this.
Don't do that. Put this on. Put that on. Stop that. Quit
that. Sit down. Stand up. Lie down. Sing. Shut up. They're living. That's how our Father speaks
to His living, breathing children. Okay? Put it on. Now put this
on, you see. But I don't want to wait. Put
it on. As the elect have got, number one, verse twelve, bowels
of mercy. Bowels of mercy. The consequences of us putting
these things on are not only wonderful for ourselves, but
everybody else. Everybody's going to benefit
if we all choose to wear these things. Do you understand? John Sheehan's going to benefit
if I put on barrel spray. The old man is critical. The old man is judgmental. The
old man is just, well, he's just critical. He's not merciful.
He says, put that off. Stop that. Don't do that. Be
merciful. Bowels meaning from the depths. Don't do it in word only. Don't
do it in principle or in theory only. May your inner Bible be
merciful for your brother. Merciful. And in light of all
that, everything he tells us to do, we should consider our
Lord as He has dealt with us. And His mercy toward us. That's
the, that should, that's our, that's our, that's what should incite this
sinner. Bowels of mercy. What about His mercy toward us? He said, be merciful as you receive
mercy. Did He say that? Put on bowels
of mercy. Wake up in the morning. And say,
Lord, by your grace, by your mercy, according to the mercy
you've shown me, let me, to myself, to my wife, to my child, to my
friend, to my whoever, put it on, and wear it the rest of the
day. Put on, therefore, vows of mercy.
Look at the next thing. And kindness. Kindness. Oh, man, is mean as a snake. Oh man, he's mean. Put that off. Stop that. Put
that off. Put him off from the very outset
by the mercy and grace of God. Put him off. And wear kindness. The rest of you. Endeavor to
be kind. The next time. Humbleness of mind. Now there's
a difference here between humbleness of mind and meekness. Humility
of mind. In other words, think low thoughts
of yourself. We need to think low thoughts
of ourselves. You know where pride is having a high opinion
of ourselves and a low opinion of others. Well, it tells us
to do the opposite. That each esteem others better
than themselves. If any man thinks he's something
when he's what? What does the scripture say we
got? If any man thinks he's something when he's... Nothing. You remember the illustration
of the zeros. We're all just a bunch of zeros. The only thing that makes us
of any value whatsoever to God is because Christ is that one. that we're in, that we're included
with. See, he's the first. And he's probably about as much
as you are. In this day, we're nothing. We are nothing. Think that about yourself from
this day on. Remember that. Let me remember
that. Think low thoughts about yourself.
And in meekness, he said, put on But wake up in the morning
and think low-cost, and wake up in the morning and put on
meekness. Meekness means to act humble.
Not only think low-cost and humble thoughts of yourself, act high. Act humble. And all of this, my, my. Christ
said, without me you can do nothing. Though we are lowly, meek and
lowly, it takes the grace of God for us to act better. And longsuffering. Look at the
next thing. He says, put on longsuffering. Begin the day, Lord help me to
be longsuffering. I want them to wear this garment
of long-sufferingness in the morning, enduring all that they
love, endure it all, for all time. How long will you put up
with your fear? Don't you like it? How long?
How long will you endure whatever it is that you endure at their
hand? How long? How long? Forever! They'll endure it forever. I've heard that before. I've
heard it too. Many times it's true. One psalm
has it 26 times. His mercy can do it forever.
Our Lord one time said to his disciples, how long must I suffer
with you? My Lord, all our days. He's long suffered. You remember
what Peter said? He said, that's salvation. Attempt
that the long-suffering of the Lord is our salvation. The fact
that He suffers long with us means He intends to save us.
It has to. Long-suffering. Put it on in
the morning. Long-suffering. And do it all
the time. Rather than do it all the time,
bury it. Here's the next step. Verse thirteen. Forbearing one
another. Forbearing. And forgiving one
another. You know, everyone in here needs
this. Husbands and wives especially do. And that's why he went on
down after all this and began with the wife and the husband
thing. Because he knows, Paul said, you're going to have trouble
in the flesh if you marry. Every married couple in here,
whoever, everyone that's married in here ought to be signaled
agency. We need this. That's true. Your spouse needs
it, and they need it from you. You need it from them. Forbearing
and forgiving. Forbearing and forgiving. Now,
every one of us have Had someone misunderstood us and had an injustice
done to us, hadn't we? By even those we love and who
we know love us, every one of us. And in turn, every one of
us had misunderstood and done an injustice to those we love
and those that love us. So our attitude is to be, it's
twofold, or better. That is, control your emotions. By the grace of God. Surrender
your own rights. Well, they did that to me. I
can't believe it. She said that to me. We need
to remind ourselves, who are we? Who are we? If someone does something to
us, You see how you won't be able to forbear if you put on
this humility and this meekness? You won't be able to forbear.
But he cussed me because I'm evil. But he wronged me because
I'm all wrong. But didn't you hear what they
did to me? Yeah, there's a big word. You see, we're bearing
our attitudes to be, surrender our rights, surrender our rights. Does that sound familiar? Does that sound familiar? He who left
his father's throne, left his glory, he who was rich, he who
lived where there was never, no sin, No injustice, no wrongdoing,
nothing but love, peace, goodness. Left all that, come down here
and put up with the likes of him. He killed him. He spit in his face. Who was reproached and reproached
not back. He was smitten and he didn't
smite back. Forbearing and forgiving. Forbearing,
that means to put up with it. Bearing. Okay. Okay. Bearing for the love you
bear. Bearing for the love you bear. That's what our Lord did there. And forgiving. What does forgiving
mean? Well, I've heard you do it. I
won't forgive you. No. It means to put it away. You're
done with it. You're done with it. Don't bring
it up again. Actually, put it out of mind
and seek peace, fellowship. So, he said, wake up in the morning and go in your closet. Know in your heart, and ask the
Lord, forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass
against us. Right? Alright, forbearing and
forgiving. Look at verse 14. And above all
these, look at verse 13. Here's the motive. If any man
hath a quarrel against thee, and even as Christ forgave you,
So also, do you make this? And above all, verse fourteen,
above all these things, that is the crown of all these, the
hat of it all. All right? You're wearing these
clothes, these garments. The crown of it all, that which
tops it off. Above all they say, that which
tops it all, and he says that which will hold it all together,
to bond, is charity, is love. Go back to, where is that family?
Love, do, is, love, do, is not, is, love, love, love, love, is
said so many times. Where is that in the Ecclesiastes? 1 Corinthians 13. 1 Corinthians
13 talks about charity. and what charity does and does
not. He says, this is the, the, above
all things, put this on. Put this on. This is the bond.
It's the, it's that which holds it all together. You see, if,
if, if this is not there, you'll all just be a fool. You hear me? And if love is not
really there in love, it's futile. The Lord does say, Lord, give
me this love that, verse four, suffereth long in his triumph,
envyeth not. This is not our text, but I'm
tempted to comment on all this stuff. Love doesn't, you don't
envy the prosperity that your children do. You want them to
be more prosperous than you are. Oh, they've got a big house down
there. Wonderful. He can go live there
when he gets old. And what love is all about to
the brethren, whoever in his mind is in there, is rejoicing. We don't. And I think we care
for our will, commonly. Bounteth not except. No, love
bounteth no one except us. Love is not as the one in love. We don't... is not puffed up,
does not behave itself unesteemingly, seeketh not her own, is not easily
provoked. It takes a lot for your children
to provoke you, doesn't it? It doesn't take much for them
to provoke others. Well, we've, we've sure got a
place here this past week. Other people's children provoke
you very easily, but you're not. Why? You really do love him.
Put this on for the brethren. Put this kind of love on for
the brethren. It's not easily provoked. Think of no evil. Rejoice
at not iniquity. Oh, you don't rejoice in it.
failures of those you love, but rejoice in the truth. Once you
get to the truth of the matter, not believe it. Just believe
it. Freedom. Bear it with all things. Believe with all things. Believe
with all things. Believe it the best. Hope with
all things. You've had hope till your dying
day. Freedom. Endure it with all things. Charity never ends. And verse
13, Now by the faith, hope, and charity, these three, we live
by these three things. We live by faith. We just live
by faith. We're saved by hope. But someday faith will give way
to sight. Someday hope will give way to reality. But love won't
change. Except it will be absolutely
perfect. And so the greatest of these
It's not. And so, going back to the text,
so this is the bond. This is the glue that holds it
all together. This is that which will enable
you, by God's grace, to forbear and forgive and so forth. You
see? All right. The bond of maturity is what
that means, perfectness, Christ-likeness. God is love. Why is God so merciful, so kind,
so gracious, so long-suffering? Why does God forbear, as He did?
Why does God forgive, as He did? Why does God forbear, forbear,
as He did? God is. That's the question. Why does He, why does He do what He does when God is?
All right. No, it's not God. All right, so read on. Verse 14, 15, now he gives three
things here, three things in these next few verses. He talks about putting it all,
putting it all, and now he says, let it, and let, verse 15, let
the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you're
called. Let the peace of God rule in
your hearts, to which you are called. The word let means just
what it means, alive. Now, again, we're talking to
believers here. We're talking to regenerated
people. Responsible creatures, alive
under God, receptive. Submit to it. Paul in Romans
6 keeps saying, don't yield your memories to this, yield them
to that. Yield, yield, submit, let, allow, and so forth. Be
under the influence of it. The peace of God. Now this is
a two-fold peace. Carry with me John 14, and this
is, oh, this is wonderful. John 14. I'm not keeping much
longer. I know you're tired, but this is good. Folks, this
is good. It's so vital. This will bring
wonderful things about, and the Lord will use it, you know, in
our homes. John 14. This is the power of
God. We're just starting at that point.
The peace of God is too cold here. Peace made by Christ. He
says, let that rule your hearts. If it does, if it does, and you
yield to that, it will reign over you. It will cast away,
it will put away all doubt. It will put away all fear. It's
got to be for you. The name you say, it's got to
be for you. If Christ is back, we shall lay
him to rest. That peace which Christ made
by the blood of Jesus, I've given you my peace. Look
at John 14, verse 27. He says, Peace I leave with you. I've made peace. He went to the cross and he made
peace for us. God is not angry with us, though
he's angry with this world. There is therefore when? Now. No condemnation to them that
are in Christ. It's not virtuous to say, oh,
I believe God, but I doubt my sin. Well, sure you do. Well, never trust yourself. But that's not virtuous to doubt
God at any time. In the face of your worst sin, Look to Christ, and peace will
rule. Oh, but he couldn't look back.
All manner of sin and niggardly shall be forgiven. He'll never forgive you. All
manner of sin and niggardly shall be forgiven, except the sin against
the Holy Spirit. What sin? The cross is sin. Leave
the gospel, and it'll make it no more sacrifice to sin. Stay
under the gospel, and it's not a sin. I see some smiles, so
I can quit. Something good's been said, and
then it's gone on. Where we going? He said, My peace
I've given to you. My peace, listen, listen, listen,
listen. You hear trouble. Listen. My peace I give unto
you. Not as the world did it. The
world was looking for peace in this and that and the other,
to find peace. You know what they're looking
for, peace. They're just searching for it everywhere. All manner
of things. Not as the world give it, give
I unto you. My peace I give unto you. Which
no man takes away. My joy. He says, so let not your
heart be troubled. Neither let it be in pain. My peace I give unto you. And peace by believing. And if
you go back to the text, folks, that's John 14.7, 4th Mark. But this peace by believing God,
submit to it. He says, let this peace rule
in your heart. It will settle your heart. It
will calm your heart. It will comfort your heart. And I said it was twofold. It's
actually threefold. Be a peacemaker. Let it rule
your life. Be a peacemaker. Our Lord said
to Matthew, cry out, man, bless the army of peacemakers. They
shall be called the sons of God. They're the children of God,
peacemakers. I quote this off of Boehner.
Boehner, who's a man of God's own heart, he said, I'm a peacemaker
boy. David was a man that no matter
how you wrong him, I guarantee you, you know, maybe in a little
while, you'll find that man amazing. Forget it. Forget it. I forgot it. I'm sorry for what I did to you,
David. What did you do to me? You don't remember? Have mercy on them. How are you?
Peacemaker. Peacemaker. They're called the
children of God. Peacemaker. War mongers aren't
the children of God. Backstabbers aren't the children
of God. Barbers aren't the children of God. Those that like to tangle
on the bus are not the children of God. Children of the devil. Blessed are the peacemakers.
Be a peacemaker. Let it rule your heart. If it does, as James said, the
fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by him that maketh peace. Go in front of him. You want peace in your home? You
want righteousness to reign in your home? Go in front of him.
The fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by him that maketh
peace. There's not going to be peace for a troubled man. There's
not going to be peace for a brawler. There's not going to be peace
for neither man nor woman. There'll be no race. There'll be no people.
God won't allow them to have peace. But for the peacemaker, it's
God. It's promised. Let it rule. You hear that? We don't. The next thing, that's
what you're called to do, called the children of God, in one body.
I don't ever expect to have a cross in this place unless I get out
of here, unless I quit preaching the gospel, unless somebody opposes the gospel.
I don't ever expect us to have a cross. Why should we? Just
one body. We're in this thing for one day.
Glory to God. Worship God. If we're all equal,
that is, equally nothing. Oh, we've had problems with the
way we're interested in a clergy lady, we'd like to kill her. Well, never mind. Anyway, if
we're all one, a bunch of nothings, we have peace. We're all seen
like each other, better than our shale. It started with me.
I'm a Baptist. Don't ever expect to have a place
here. That's what we're called. God's will obey in peace. There's
a time for charity, not God's charity. No, no. Paul went to town and said to
the Corinthians, he said, I hear there's schism in your parliament.
That's not spiritual. All right, read on. He says,
that's what you're called, and be ye thankful. Here's the next
thing. Be ye thankful. Boy, here's something to put
on in the morning. Be ye thankful.
I've got fifteen verses of Scripture written out here. We don't have
time to look at one. Paul said in Philippians, can
everything give thanks? In everything give thanks, this
is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. In everything,
got it? In everything give thanks. He said, this is the will of
God in Christ concerning you. If it wasn't, he wouldn't have
happened. If it wasn't, he wouldn't be
where you are. If it wasn't, he would not be. In everything give thanks. Just
like God has ordained peace for those who make peace, God has
ordained joy for those who make joy. Those who murmur and complain
and bitter all the time, they will be bitter and murmur and
complain. What's that? They'll find nothing
bitter. Wake up in the morning, fancily
watch, and breathe in. Thank you, Lord, for something.
Thank you, Lord, for your mercy. His mercy is in you. You wake
up, you're not in hell, are you? Thank you, Lord, for your mercy. It's food, it's water. Thank
you, Lord, for this clean slate. Thank you, Lord, for your grace.
Walk in the kitchen, open the refrigerator, put the bag full
of food. Thank you, Lord. You've got to
go to work. I should go for this job. What's up, Amy? I should go for
this job. Oh, John. I should go for this
job. Oh, I have to go to work. I don't
know how to cook. Go to the soup kitchen. So I went down to Mexico. Just went for a diet food. Looked
in the Mexican media. Thank you, Lord. Be thankful.
Be thankful. Be a thankful believer. Believers
are thankful. Now believers are. Believers
not only should be, believers are. The world is not. That's what Romans 1 says, they
weren't thankful. But believers are thankful. God
helped us, God forgave us, said we're not thankful as we should
be, but believers are thankful. You know, there's nothing more
dishonoring to God than an unthankful believer. There's nothing more
undercutting of a believer who's experienced such grace and such
mercy as being unthankful. There's nothing more provoking
to God than that, you know, a murmuring complaint. It's like a storm
raging through the air. It's like a storm raging. You know what I mean. We worship sin. Let the word
of Christ dwell in you richly. Let the word of Christ dwell
in you richly. All right, what are we doing
tonight? We're looking at the rich word.
All right, he says, let it dwell in you. How's that? Oh, we all, I don't think I need
to say much about this, but We all know now that something dwells
in you that you dwell on. Right? Whatever you dwell on,
it will dwell in you. Come on. I've been tired of when
I play some music that I particularly love, and start singing it, and
can't get it out of my mind at all. But if y'all have a particular
song, you know, it would be on my mind. It's dwelling in me. But it says, let the word of
God dwell in you. He said, Peter said, desire is
sincere milk of the word. Desire, here we are, we're here. Now, how do we let it dwell in
you? Dwell on it. Dwell on it. Dwell on it. When we leave this place, When
this is over, this is where I'm going to be. I'll be so quick
to get off on a tangent. You know how much we've looked
at tonight. You know that's true. If one of these truths was instilled
in us, what would it do for us? If God just took one word and
applied it in season, what would it do for us? I'm glad we're
open to everybody. But let not the cows of the day,
or the plums, choke it out, and take it away. Come on, let's
see what happens to the cow. She's not hurting a bit, all
right? We've got a lot of grass, and we've gone through a lot
of green pasture here, all right? Like Molly, we just broke
it down. We'll add our material, all right?
It's over. Bring it back up. That's what
cows do, but not for farm people. They regurgitate it. What did
our meat buy? They kept it down in their running
bath. And they regurgitated it. And children would be, oh, that's
so high and difficult. And we lose that. That's what
we need to do with this. But you don't want to kill a
third of you. We don't want to, and I don't want to quit. This
is it. He says, uh, let the Word of God's willing enriching all
wisdom. God's Word is able to make us wise and holy
in salvation and in harmony. This is living in harmony. Even though the 40s, 50s, 60s,
70s, 80s, 80s, 80s, 80s, 80s, 80s, 80s, 80s, 80s, 80s, 80s,
80s, This is wisdom. Rev on. Rev on. Rev on His Word, His
other things. Rev on and let the Word of God
dwell in you, which we don't. And teaching and admonishing
one another in songs and hymns and spiritual songs, singing
with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Teaching and admonishing
one another. See that I told you, you shouldn't
have been like that. What's wrong with you? What's
wrong with you? What's wrong with you? What it says in the Old Testament?
Is that what it says to do? Use the Word on your brother. Tell him. Learn from that. Tell
him. Use the Word. See, this is what God wants you
to do. You shouldn't be like that. Is that what it says? Let's read it again, shall we?
Teaching and admonishing one another how? in psalms and hymns and spiritual
songs. That's not a direct admonition.
I'm teaching one another that it's the spirit and attitude
that you bear that others learn from it. Does that make sense? Your husband runs off and he
leaves this time. Let's use Staten Bridge. Which
is not true of Staten Bridge. It's not. Sherry told me, well,
he's a sweet man. Most of the time. Most of the
time, right? Let's say the same way it's said
in the Bible. What's Sherry going to do? Well,
the scripture says, he needs me. Will that do it? Would that do it? No, it wouldn't
do it. The strength of sin is the law.
That's what it is. He carried on saying, Oh, have
mercy on me. Not adding, but just adding to
the law, you see. To the law. Well, I'm being a
mean, mean old man, aren't I? You see, that's what they're
saying. They were punished. Well, that's not fair. A soft answer goes wrong. It's not a good thing. A hit will get
a hit. A curse will get a curse. A soft
answer We're supposed to test that.
It will come right back. It will
acknowledge that we're here. All right, the next sentence.
And he says, whatever you do, in both sentences, whatever you
do, in whatever you do, whatever you say, whatever you think,
however you act, The reason we do it is in the name of our Lord,
in the name of Him who's altogether merciful and gracious, the God
of all grace and mercy, in the name of our Lord Jesus, giving
thanks to God and the Father God for life. Now, I hope you've heard some
of that. I know for a fact that it's true
and possible. The Lord will teach you. Thank you. Now, here's my problem. Take
the word as only you can, and know us, and use it. Operate
on these parts of ours. Remove the stony objects and
our flesh from the incorruptible seed and plant it. For I have
made bread full of fruit for your glory. Here it is, how we
go about it. We bear the fruit of the cross,
through the spirit. It's in his name, or his glory,
and I will be steady in his name for the rest of my life. Amen. You know what that means? Thank you very much.
