me. Whither goest thou? But because I said these things
unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart. Nevertheless, I tell
you the truth, it is expedient for you that I go away. For if
I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you. But if
I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he
will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of
judgment, of sin, because they believe not on me. Of righteousness,
because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more. Of judgment,
because the Prince of this world is judged. And when our Lord
means that, He means that the whole world is judged, the ruler
of this world and all that's in it. Judgment's on this world.
And I have yet many things to say unto you, but you cannot
bear them now. Howbeit when He, the Spirit of
truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth, for He shall
not speak of Himself. But whatsoever he shall hear,
shall he speak, and he will show you things to come. He shall
glorify me, for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto
you. All things that the Father hath are mine, therefore said
that he shall take of mine, and show it unto you." Now, we want
to talk about the Spirit of Truth, the Spirit of Truth. Howbeit
when He, the Spirit of Truth, is come, the Spirit of Truth,
back up in verse 26, of John 15, there he's called the Comforter,
and there he's called the Spirit of Truth. These are titles, these
are titles of the Holy Spirit, set forth His office and what
He's to do. Now, our Lord is set forth in
John's gospel as God manifest in the flesh. The Word made flesh
and sent to dwell among us, the One who created the world and
preexisted in all of His glory. And he said over and over, I
and my Father are one. He said here in verse 15. All
things that the Father hath are mine. And therefore said I that
he shall take of mine shall show it unto you. Now there's the
Trinity right there in that verse of Scripture. There's the Son
and the Father. And there's the Holy Spirit that
will take the things of the Father and the Son. They both have the
same thing. Everything that the Father hath is mine. Therefore
said that he shall take of mine, and he the Holy Spirit will take
the things of mine and the fathers and show them unto you." And
so we see the Trinity right there. And I tell you, it's a Trinity
that saves us. The Bible's full of the Trinity.
And oh, to have men and women that understand that there's
one God, that Yeti's in three He has a work to do in this world.
All of them are in one will, in one purpose, in one aim, but
they all have different administrations of that one office. And it's
a mysterious thing. But still, yes, that's scriptural.
And this is why, because He said He was going away, He and the
Father are one. This is why the disciples had
such a hard time grasping Him leaving them, going back to the
Father. He said, I go away, I go back
to where I came from. And they had such a hard time
and sorrow filled their heart because of their lack of understanding.
And that's what he says there in verse 12. I have yet many
things to say unto you, but you cannot bear them now. But, howbeit
when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, then you're going to
learn some things. You're going to learn some things.
And they were taken up with their sorrows, but he says, now you
can't bear them now, but howbeit when he, and the Spirit of truth
hadn't come yet. The Holy Spirit hadn't come upon
the church yet. And we've seen that when the
Holy Spirit worked in the Old Testament and on the day of Pentecost
when He fell on the day of Pentecost and fell on all those people.
That's when the Spirit of truth comes. That's when Simon Peter
understood what Joel meant. He didn't understand Joel 2.28
until that day he was preaching and he says, this is that. And
then not only that, but he used I don't know how many Old Testament
scriptures in that message that day. And he said and understood
that this was speaking of Christ at that time. And so they were
taken up with Saul, but the Spirit of Truth, let's look at the Spirit
of Truth, how be it when He, the Spirit of Truth, is come.
This is the title given to the Holy Spirit, the third person
of the Godhead. And this qualifies who He is.
This is His credentials. You know, if somebody comes and
says, show me your credentials. Well, the Holy Spirit's credentials
is that He's the Spirit of Truth. He tells the truth. He knows
the truth. He qualifies who He is and what He does. He teaches
the truth. God's in the truth. There's nothing
false about Him. There's nothing weak about Him.
Nothing inconsistent about Him. And the Holy Spirit here, the
Spirit of truth, has a perfect knowledge of the truth. Infinite
love of the truth. And He's the one who reveals
the truth and teaches the truth. And that's how you judge a man's
ministry. Does he tell the truth on Christ? Because when the Holy Spirit
is among us, that's what He does. That's why He's called the Spirit
of Truth. Now, beloved, there's a lying spirit. Look over here
at 1 John 4. There's a lying spirit. Do you
remember when God said He sent a lying spirit to Saul and the
prophets? And He said over in 2 Thessalonians
that He has sent a strong delusion that men should believe a lie
and be damned. And oh, beloved, here we find
out who the spirit of truth is. Where are we going to get truth?
And I'll tell you what, truth is hard to find. I mean, none
of us was born with it. And I'll tell you what, to find
this truth, the truths of God, the truth of His Word, the truth
of salvation, the truth about Christ, the truth about ourselves,
if that's hard, you can't find that just anywhere. You can't
find that just anywhere. That's why those fellas are trying
to start that work in San Diego. They got mega church after mega
church after mega church after. I'll run into a fella that goes
to a congregation, got 3,000 people in it. They got more preachers than
we got in the building here tonight. And not one of us telling the
truth. Five or six little old men getting together here trying
to start to get a witness for the gospel of the grace of God.
Because they can't find the truth. They've looked for the truth.
They've tried to get the truth. They've been all over that state
and all over that county looking for truth. Can't find it. They said, well, since there
ain't none here, let's start one of the assassin preachers.
And that's what he does, the spirit of truth. Look here in
this line, Spirit, 1 John 4, verse 1. Beloved, believe not
every spirit, Betray the spirits where they be of God, where they
are of God. Oh, because many false prophets
are going out into the world. Now watch this. Hereby know ye
the Spirit of God. See how it's capitalized? Talking
about the Holy Spirit here. Every spirit that confesses that
Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God. What does that mean? That means that you're saying
that Christ was preexistent, that God came in the flesh, and
that He came here as Jesus, as a man, and Christ is the anointed
of God, and He came here to save His people. He come in the flesh. And every spirit that confesses
not that Jesus Christ did not come in the flesh is not of God.
It's the spirit of antichrist, and He's already in the world.
Antichrist, the world's full of antichrists. Yes, sir. Full
of them. Full of them. So there's a lying
spirit. There's a spirit of antichrist. And, oh, beloved, so the spirit
of truth. And I'll tell you, he has perfect knowledge of the
truth, the love of the truth. And truth, he reveals the truth.
And, oh, listen, beloved. You know, here, the truth he
teaches is Christ. He says, You know, our Lord Jesus
Christ said, He shall not speak of himself, but whatsoever he
shall hear, that shall he speak, he shall glorify me. So the truth
that he teaches is Christ. Christ, his redemptive glory,
he's the one that caused these men to write the Bible, to write
the word of God. And he teaches about Christ's
redemptive glory. And you know, this book opens
up with talking about Christ. In the beginning was the Word.
The Word was God. The Word was with God. The same
was in the beginning with God. And everything that was made
was made by Him. And there was nothing made that
was made without Him. And this Word was made flesh. And we beheld His glory. as the
only begotten of the Father, full of grace and full of truth.
And so he comes and starts out with the glory of Christ. And
the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Christ.
And of His grace and His fullness have we all received. And I'll
tell you, you remember in Genesis 24, Abraham said, I want you
to go among my kinfolk, and I want you to get a bride for my son
Isaac. I want you to go get a bride
for my son, Isaac. Now, if he had been sent by a preacher today,
he would have went running around and said, Oh, I need to find
somebody willing to marry my master's son. Oh, anybody want
to get married? Anybody want to accept him? But
no, he was sent to a particular place. He was sent to a particular
people. And you know when he got there,
you know what he talked about when he got there? He just talked. about the son and everything
that the son had. You know, my master has a son. And he has one son and, you know,
he's made him out of everything. And he started bringing out the
clothes and showing them to Rebecca. Started bringing out the silver,
started bringing out the gold, started bringing out all the
diamonds, all the riches that he had. Said, will you go? I'm
going, I'm going. And that's what the Holy Spirit
does with Christ. He takes us and makes us to understand
that God has appointed him heir of all things. And that beloved,
he came into this world to redeem his people. And oh, he shall
testify of me. And then look what it says here
again in our text, in John 16, 13. Howbeit when he, the Spirit
of truth, is come, is come, not shall come, is come, he'll guide
you into all truth. Now, you notice that all truth?
Does that mean that we know all the truth that there is to know? But this is talking about a particular
truth. There's a lot of true things in this world. It's true
that they just had a horrible earthquake in Japan. It's true
that a tsunami hit. Those things are true. All that's
true. But that's not the truth he's talking about here. No,
no. And, O Beloved, to guide you,
who needs guiding? What kind of people need guiding?
People who are blind? People who are too weak to walk?
People too ignorant to find their own way out. There's too many
people that's going through a strange country and don't know how to
get through it. You've got to have a guide. And so that's what
he does. And notice here, he doesn't drive,
he guides you. He guides you. And oh, beloved,
listen. And I'll tell you a knowledge
of the truth, and this is all truth here. I want you to notice
this. He said, all truth. He said, now, truth don't say
all truths. All truth. Truth here is singular. All truth is singular. God's
truth is a whole. There's a unity in the truth
of Christ. There's a unity in the gospel.
There's a unity in the word of truth. You take one part of it
out, and the truth destroyed. And you add anything to it, and
you destroy it. The whole truth of God, the doctrine,
the truth of God, there's a unity to it. There's a wholeness to
it. And that's why this Bible, from start to finish, has one
message. has one theme, has one subject. And that subject, and then all
those branches that come off that one subject. And whenever
you find the word doctrine in the Scripture, and truth, it's
always singular. If you find doctrines, then you
find it's doctrines of men or doctrines of devils. God's doctrine's
singular. We call it the doctrines of grace.
It's just the doctrine of grace. It's the doctrine of God. It's
the doctrine of Christ. It's a doctrine according to
the riches of Christ. And so there's a unity in the
truth of Christ. A glory in the truth of it. The
gospel in the word of truth. And when he talks about truth
here, he's talking about spiritual truth. Spiritual truth. He takes,
or leads us, only as we're able to bear. Now let me comment on
that a minute. He says, you know, I have many
things to say unto you, yet you're not able to bear them. Everybody
don't receive the same amount of truth at the same time. Ain't
that right? This is another mystery of preaching,
and another mystery of the gospel, and another mystery of how the
Holy Spirit does it. Whatever I say tonight, or any time I
preach here, or anybody else preaches here, or you go any
place else, everybody here hears exactly the same thing. But everybody
here don't get exactly the same thing. One truth will stand out
to somebody. Somebody else over here will
get a hold of that. And there's something for the baby. There's
something for the young men. There's something for the old
people. And the age didn't cry. Everybody doesn't get, they don't
grow at the same rate. Everybody don't grow at the same
rate, do they? We all hear the same truth, but everybody don't
grow at the same rate. They don't grow at the same rate
of truth. But all spiritual truth, He leads us and teaches us as
we're able to bear. I was talking to a fellow just
this weekend. He said, I'll never forget when I found out that
Jesus Christ was God. What a revelation to find, you
know, he goes on in religion and religion, and one day God
opened his eyes, opened his heart. Jesus Christ is God. He'd been a baby in a manger.
Sweet little boy had been just a man. He just, you know, somebody
to be an example. And all of a sudden he finds
out he's God. Changed his life dramatically.
But I tell you the truth that he teaches you and guides us
into. Every truth that's necessary for your salvation and my salvation.
And that's the thing he teaches us. That's the thing he guides
us into. Everything that we need for our salvation. And I'll tell
you, we have been saved, we are being saved, and we shall be
saved. I mean, you know, we're saved
back there. We're saved in the purpose of God. We're saved in
time. But yet, beloved, we ain't crossed that threshold yet. So
whatever's necessary for our salvation, yesterday, today,
back when we began, everything that's necessary, the Holy Spirit
gives it to us when we need it and teaches us and guides us
in those things. And whatever's necessary for
our growth, whatever is necessary for our growth, and whatever is necessary for
your peace and your assurance. You know, look with me over here.
Keep John 16. Look with me in 1 Thessalonians, chapter 1, just
a moment. You know, that's why Paul, he
told the Ephesians, after you heard the word of truth, the
gospel of your salvation. Not the word of a liar, not the
word of just a man, the word of truth, the gospel of your
salvation. And Paul rebuked Peter, because
he did not adhere to the truth as it is in the gospel. But here
in 1 Thessalonians 1.5, look what we're talking about here. Paul said, I know you, brethren,
your election of God. How do you know? Well, our gospel
came not unto you in word only. Now, that's what you're hearing
tonight, word. You're hearing words. The gospel's not going
to come to you in words. The gospel's not going to come
to you in And something you don't understand, it's going to come
to you in word. Christ used words. He was the Word. But it also
comes in power. The Word has to not only come
in word, but it has to come in power. It has to come in the
power of the Holy Ghost. And so you see, when it comes
in the power of the Holy Ghost, and it comes with much assurance.
It gives you the assurance that what you're hearing is true.
It gives you assurance of the gospel. It gives you assurance
of Christ. It gives you assurance that what
you're hearing is true. True. That's why it says, try
the Spirit. Because you know, if a fellow's
not coming to the Holy Spirit, when he comes, he brings the
gospel in power. You all remember several years
ago, When we first started having our conference years ago, Bruce
Crabtree got up and read just one verse of scripture in our
conference. And the power of God fell that night just in him
reading those scriptures. And he read one verse of scripture.
1 Corinthians 10.31. Whatsoever ye eat, whatsoever
ye drink, whatsoever ye do, do all for the glory of God. And
the Spirit of God drove that home. That's what we're talking
about. That's true. And the Holy Ghost
beared witness to that truth. He just made us all conscious
of it and aware of it. That we're here. What we eat,
what we drink, where we go, what we do is do it for God's glory.
And oh, God bless that to heart. Just that little verse of Scripture. And that's what he's talking
about. He comes with assurance that this is God. This is the
truth of God. And let me tell you something
else about the spirit of truth. He never stresses one point of
doctrine at the expense of another. He don't just dwell on one point
of doctrine and let the others go. No, no. He tells the whole truth, all
the truth. And oh, beloved, listen. Let
me tell you something about this truth. We need a knowledge of
the truth. It's essential for our comfort.
I get great comfort in knowing the truth, don't you? Even what
I know about myself, I find comfort in that. I mean, I come to Christ
as I am. I come to Christ not like I think
I am, not like I hope I am, not like you say I am. I have to
come to Him as I am, with my weaknesses and my inabilities
and my sins. My pride, everything, my unbelief,
I have to come to Him as I am. And oh, that gives me comfort
because He takes me as I am. I don't have to qualify myself
to Him. I don't have to be a big sinner
or a little sinner. I don't have to measure my own
belief. I don't have to measure how much I've done or not done. All I've got to do is come to
Him as I am, the knowledge of the truth. And I'll tell you
another reason why we need a knowledge of the truth and Him guiding
the truth. The truth will keep us out of danger. It'll keep
us out of danger. And there's plenty of danger
around. You know, did you see where I put in the bullets last
week where Martin Luther said he's more afraid of himself than
the Pope and a thousand cardinals? Look with me in Hebrews 13.9.
I'll show you what I'm talking about. The knowledge of the truth,
it'll keep us out of danger. Keep us out of danger. Look here
in Hebrews 13.9. Be not carried about with divers,
or different and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the
heart be established with grace, not with meat which hath not
profited them that have been occupied therein." I mean, don't
be carried about. You know, something comes along,
get carried away with it. Somebody comes up with something,
you get carried away with it. And I'll tell you what, we need
a guide. Truth's hard to find. There's
mysteries that are in the Scriptures that are true, and yet they're
greater and deeper as we grow. Has the Bible become bigger to
you as you grow? Has the Scriptures become deeper
to you? Have they become, has the well
got deeper? You understand what I'm saying? Has it got bigger to you than
it was when you first believed? Has it got broader and wider
and tighter? Deeper. And I tell you, we need a guide
because air is so prevalent, so prevalent today. And because
we're so prone to go astray. I know this, if grace doesn't
guide us. You know, a cow or a sheep or
something, they're all the time trying to get through the fence
to get into the other pasture. Always, always. And that's the
man you would not be if the Holy Spirit didn't keep us in the
pasture. I mean, we'd get out and they'd have to bring us back.
The Lord, we'd get out and the Lord'd have to keep bringing
us back. And oh, my. And oh, man, let me tell you
this. A man can guide you to a truth.
He can guide you to a truth. But he can't guide you into the
truth. Only the Holy Spirit can take you into the truth. You
can get people to agree with you, say, yes, I know that's
what that says. And they get it up here and they'll
agree with it up there. But until it has an effect upon
you, until it changes your nature, until it becomes part and parcel
of you, you ain't been got into it yet. And he's the one who
illuminates the Bible. You know, everybody says, well,
I've got this kind of Bible and that kind, you know, I've got
a King James, New King James, NIV, I've got a good picture
Bible there, but have you got an illuminated Bible? Well, you
know what an illuminated Bible is? That's one that God turns
the light on on. That's what we all need. We need
an illuminated Bible. And let me go back over here
in this text again. Look what it says. He'll guide
you into all truth, for he shall not speak of himself. Now, I'll
tell you, beloved, this doesn't mean that the Holy Spirit doesn't
make Himself and His work known. He does. We dealt with His person,
we dealt with His work, dealt with His personality. And the
Scriptures tell us many, many things about the Holy Spirit,
about His work, and about His offices. But what it means is
this, that He will not speak independently of the Father and
the Son. He won't speak of Himself. He
won't just take it upon Himself to teach us something. He will
not speak independently of the Father's will and the Son's will
and what's in the Father and what's of the Father. They all
speak the same thing. And He takes the things of Christ.
He doesn't speak independently. It would be like a fellow, one
of our ambassadors, going over there and speaking independently.
The Holy Spirit doesn't speak independently. And that's what
it means. And then look what it says here.
Not only will He not speak of Himself, but whatsoever is here,
shall he speak, and he will show you things to come." Now, let
me tell you something. When it says, He'll show you
things to come, we know what's coming. He has already shown
us what's coming. We know what's coming for the
sheep, don't we? We know what's coming for the
sheep. We know that Christ saves His sheep. That all the debt
that's coming today with the sheep will be put on the right,
and we know what's going to happen to the goats. The goats are going
to be put on the left. We know what's going to happen to believers.
They're going to go be with Christ. We know what's going to happen
to unbelievers. They're going to perish. We know what's going
to happen to people who do not believe Christ and trust Christ.
They have no hope. And, oh beloved, we hear about
the times, the times and how perilous times would come. We
hear over and over. Three earthquakes, massive earthquakes
in just the last few months. People getting peeled by the
thousands. Economies on the tink and on the brink of just collapsing
all over the world. Politicians lined like a bunch
of sorry, wretched dogs, and I'm telling you, and this world's
going to hell in a handbasket, and yet we know it's coming,
and we just as calm as if we had good sense in the midst of
it all. I was talking to a preacher today
about a man and his wife having trouble. He said, I'm not surprised. I hate him for it, but I'm not
surprised. When you hear about divorce, you're not surprised.
When you hear about homosexuality, you're not surprised anymore.
All this stuff going on and on and on. And I tell you, the Lord
showed us the things that's to come. We're not surprised. You
know who I'm surprised with more than anybody? Me. But I thank
God I don't surprise him. I know what's coming. And I know,
beloved, the time is coming when it's over for me. And some of
you all here, Brad or Gary or some of these young men, maybe
Houston, they'll lay me out and they'll walk by and they'll say
some nice things about me, stand over me and I'll be gone. I know
what's coming. That's a precious thing to say
because I know what's coming. We're not fools, we're not blind,
we know what's going on. He's already shown us what's
to come. We don't know what tomorrow holds, but we know who holds
it. And we didn't know anything about what was to come until
the Spirit of Truth came. And we know what the end will
be. There's a fellow out in California right now, he's already predicted,
I don't know how many times, that the day that Christ was
coming back. Back in 1999-98, Howard Camping is his name. He
runs Family Radio. He predicted September something
a few years ago, and Henry Mahan was out there preaching, and
he told him publicly in that camp out there, he says, Brother
Camping, you better forget these days. What if it don't happen
on that day? And now he's got May the 21st
of this year set for when Christ is coming back. And he's got
a whole bunch of people getting ready, quitting their jobs, giving
their money away and everything, getting ready for May 28th, the
21st of this year. They're leaving here. But here's the difference. They're
looking for a day. They're setting days. We're looking
for a person. They're looking for a time. We're
looking for a person. I'm looking for a person to come. I don't care what day he comes.
It don't make a bit of difference to me what day he comes. If he
comes tomorrow, if he comes after me, if he comes after Mary one
at a time, as long as he comes and gets me, that's all I care
about. And he's not even going to do that, ain't he, Ruby? He
said, I'll show you things to come. We'll see. Oh, I've got to hurry, my goodness.
Let me show you something else here. And here's the main truth
that he does. The main truth he leads us into. He said, He
shall not speak of himself, but whatsoever he shall speak, and
he will show you things to come, he shall glorify me. That's what
he does. He shall receive of mine the
things that the Father hath given me, the truth concerning me,
The glory is concerning me, and that's what he's going to show
you. That's what he's going to show you. He said, he shall glorify
me. And this is a test of anyone's
message. If he's not glorifying Christ
in his message. This is the test in anybody's
theology. If their theology is not Christ-centered,
if their ministry is not Christ-centered, if their doctrine is not, even
if we can test our own experience by this, do we want Christ to
get all the glory? Do we acknowledge Christ gets
all the glory? Do we say Christ did all the
saving? Do we say Christ is everything
that we need for time and eternity? Do we give Him and attribute
to Him all of our salvation, from Alpha to Omega, and absolutely
we put nothing in it? The only thing we bring to the
table is our sin. And he sets forth Christ as the
beginning and the ending. He sets forth the Lord Jesus
Christ as the fulfillment and the perfect doer of God's holy
will. Oh, people say, I want to do
God's will, and I do. But Christ did it, and He did
it perfectly. Oh, He sets Him forth as the
fulfillment of God's purpose, and God's purpose is manifested
in His blessed Son. Sets Him forth as the salvation
of His elect. His righteousness alone for our
justification. There's not a righteousness we
have. When I was reading over in James today, it says, the
fervent, effectual prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
You know what that means there? The only righteousness a person
has is the righteousness of Christ. So it means the effectual, fervent
prayer of a man who knows Christ and has the righteousness of
Christ avail much. Anybody else's prayers ain't
going to get out of the room. People, you know, they pray.
They say, well, I pray. They say, I've got to have a
good thought for it today and all that. Good thoughts ain't
never done anybody any good. Don't change it up. The only
people that God hears is those that were given to Christ and
have the righteousness of Christ and been regenerated by Christ.
Wouldn't you all agree with that? You know, and He'll glorify Him
in all the promises of God are in Him. Every promise of God
is in Him. All but promises, the promises
of his life, the promise of righteousness, forgiveness and justification,
acceptance and access. And in this he glorifies him
in telling about his finished work. He cried out, it is finished. And it was. It was. And we don't
add the finishing touch by our choice, by our decision, by our
law keeping, by our duties. And he especially glorifies him
and shows us his interest in us, and the love he has for his
people. Having loved his own, he loved
them unto the end. And then look what he says. He
shall glorify me, for he shall receive of mine. Verse 14. When he says he shall receive
of mine, what he means is he shall receive of mine own. What
belongs to me exclusively. He shall show the things of mine,
my own, that belongs to me, what belongs to me exclusively, and
shall show it unto you. Now, the world rejects Christ.
Always has and always will. Our Lord said there in verse
25 of chapter 15, says, They hated me without a cause, but
the Holy Spirit, but the Holy Spirit through the preaching
of the apostles, and through men down through history, and
even some today, there are still some people who glorify Christ.
There are still some people that God uses to glorify the Lord
Jesus Christ. People who honor Him Christ,
and when He, the Holy Spirit, comes, He will cause the glory
of Christ to be proclaimed. Oh, His power, His power, all
power in heaven and earth is given unto Him, He said. He'll
cause the glory of His love. How can Christ love you, love
me? How could that happen? How can
He love us? What is man that you're mindful
of Him? Have you ever just absolutely been flabbergasted that God could
love you? And of His holiness, of His compassion,
of His obedience, that Christ is the end of the law for righteousness
to everyone that believes it? And whatever Christ has done,
whatever Christ is doing, whatever He will do for His church, that's
the theme of the Holy Spirit's teaching. He'll take the things
of mine that belong exclusively to me. And there's a oneness
of the Holy Spirit and the Father and the Son. He says there in
verse 15, All things of the Father are mine. So He's going to take
a mine and show it unto you. And all the things of the Father
are mine. Therefore, said he, shall take up mine to show it
unto you." There they all are. And how thankful we should be
for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Our Father says that I'll pray
the Father and He'll send you the Spirit. How thankful we should
be for the gift of the Holy Spirit. He was promised to us. The Savior,
our Savior, is in heaven. That we have a divine person
with us, in us. while we're on this earth, and
that's the Holy Spirit. He's the one who quickens us, born
again by the Spirit of God. He indwells us. He loves us. He leads us, as many as are led
by the Spirit of God or the sons of God. He gives us assurance
of our salvation, gives us evidence of it. The Spirit Himself bears
witness with our spirit that we're the children of God. He
helps our infirmities by making intercession for us. When we
know not what to pray for, He, the Holy Spirit, makes intercession
for us with groanings which cannot be uttered." And not only that,
beloved, but He has sealed us, sealed us to the day of redemption.
You know what that sealing means? It means He put a stamp on us,
put an evidence on us that God says, they're mine. They're mine. They're mine. So I'll ask you
this question, and I'm through. I said that the Holy Spirit,
we can judge a man's ministry, his theology, his doctrine, and
we can judge our own experience, the truth of our own experience.
Is our heart, in our heart and in our souls and in our mind,
is it in us to attribute all the glory to the Lord Jesus Christ
for every good and every perfect thing that we have? That's right. Man, you know, it's Christ who
gives your heart hunger after Him, desire Him, want Him, need
Him, reaches out for Him. You know why He does that? The
Holy Spirit's in you, which is Christ in you, the hope of God.
Amen.
