'The king shall joy in thy strength, O Lord; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!
Thou hast given him his heart's desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.
For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head.
He asked life of thee, and thou gavest it him, even length of days for ever and ever.
His glory is great in thy salvation: honour and majesty hast thou laid upon him.
For thou hast made him most blessed for ever: thou hast made him exceeding glad with thy countenance.
For the king trusteth in the Lord, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.
Thine hand shall find out all thine enemies: thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee.
Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger: the Lord shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them.
Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men.
For they intended evil against thee: they imagined a mischievous device, which they are not able to perform.
Therefore shalt thou make them turn their back, when thou shalt make ready thine arrows upon thy strings against the face of them.
Be thou exalted, Lord, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power.'

Matthew and chapter 2 opens with
this account. Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem
of Judea, in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came
wise men from the east to Jerusalem, saying, where is he that is born
king of the Jews? For we have seen his star in
the east, and are come to worship him. When Herod the king had
heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And
when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of
the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be
born. And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judea. For thus
it is written by the prophet, And thou, Bethlehem, in the land
of Judah, art not the least among the princes of Judah. For out
of thee shall come a governor that shall rule my people Israel.
Then Herod, when he had privilege, called the wise men and inquired
of them diligently what time the star appeared. And he sent
them to Bethlehem and said, Go and search diligently for the
young child. And when ye have found him, bring
me word again that I may come and worship him also. When they
had heard the king, they departed. And lo, the star which they saw
in the east went before them till it came and stood over where
the young child was. When they saw the star, they
rejoiced with exceeding great joy. Now when Jesus was born
in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of Herod the king, behold,
there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, saying, where
is he that is born king of the Jews? Wise men look for the king. Wise men look for the king. These wise men from the east
looked for the king. And wise men throughout every
generation, even today, look for the king. Wise men look for the king in
the Scriptures. When they come to the Word of
God, when they come to the Scriptures, the Bible, wise men look for
the King. Wise men look for the King in
preaching. When they hear a man preach,
they listen and look for the king and should they not hear
the king and should they not see the king and find the king
they will go away grieving they will go away hungry better that
that preacher had not preached wise men look for the king in
their experience The wisdom that God has given them has made them
hungry for righteousness, has made them hunger and thirst after
righteousness and they know that that righteousness will come
through the King. The wisdom that God has given
them has given them a love and a desire to find and to know
and to hear. He that was born King of the
Jews. Wise men look for the King. Are you wise? Has God made you
wise unto salvation? Has God put a desire in your
heart to know the King, to know Jesus Christ, to know the Lord. If he has, then you will be discontent
with any preaching and any church in which he is not to be found.
You will be hungry when you don't hear of him. You will be saddened
when you go somewhere and he is not to be found. Wise men
look for the king. These wise men came from the
east looking for the king of the Jews. We have seen his star
in the east and I've come to worship him. As God sent you
a star in the east and by that star has he led you to the king? They were in the east. The east
is that place in which the sun arises in the morning, rises
up to its height and sets in the west. Wise men come from
the east because they come from the place where the sun arises. Because the place where the Son
of God arises is the place where life is brought forth. And life is that which gives
men wisdom. If God makes you wise to look
for the King, it will be because he's brought you to life to live
and to look. You will come from the East,
where the sun rises early in the morning. You will come from
that place of resurrection. You will come from that place
early in the morning, on the first day of the week, at which
Christ arose from the dead, having been crucified for your sins,
having been slain, having been judged. You will be wise because
God has made you wise. because God has offered his son
for your sins and given you a hunger, a wisdom to look for the one
who was born King of the Jews. Wise men came from the East looking
for the King. They came to worship him and
they came to herald the king upon earth who knew not the king
who knew not Christ who knew not that Christ was come and
was born a king on earth who had all the riches and the reign
and the acclaim and the status and all that this world could
offer him but he had not come from the east he had not seen
the star he did not have a hunger and a thirst after righteousness
he was in darkness he knew not that the light of the world was
born in Bethlehem he had to ask all his wise men so called around
him when king when Herod the king had heard these things he
was troubled and all Jerusalem with him and when he had gathered
all the chief priests and scribes of the people together he demanded
of them where Christ should be born he didn't know and the scriptures
told him but he never looked in those scriptures to find the
king And the chief priests told him, and they said unto him,
In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet,
And thou, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, art not the least among
the princes of Judah, for out of thee shall come a governor
that shall rule my people Israel. Then Herod, when he had privily
called the wise men, inquired of them diligently what time
the star appeared. And he sent them to Bethlehem
and said, go and search diligently for the young child. And when
ye have found him, bring me word again that I may come and worship
him also. What a liar! He had no desire
to worship this king. He saw this king born in Bethlehem
as a threat to his own rule. And his desire was to put him
to death. And that's exactly what he did
because the wise men having been taken by the leading of God by
his star to the king to Christ whom they saw and before whom
they brought their gifts were warned of Herod's intention and
did not return unto him. And Herod filled with fury sought
to put all the young children born around that time to death. Then Herod, when he saw that
he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wrath, and sent
forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in
all the coast thereof, from two years old and under, according
to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men. Then
was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet,
saying, In Ramah there was a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping
and great mourning Rachel weeping for her children and would not
be comforted because they are not. Oh what hatred Herod as
a king of this earth had for the Son of God Jesus Christ the
King of Kings when he was born. He did not seek to worship him. He did not look for him. He sought
to slay him. And he slew many other children,
but God kept his son until the hour in which God said, now I
will offer my son for my people. But Herod and the kings of the
earth sought to slay him. Wise men look for the King. Psalm 21, which we will look
at in a moment, is a psalm with its focus upon the King. David, as the King of Israel
at the time, writes, speaking of himself, but he speaks of
Christ. The King. The King is before
his gaze. The King is set there before
our gaze. And wise men will look for the
King. And not just in the 21st Psalm,
but throughout the Scriptures and in every Gospel message.
Who was born in Bethlehem? Jesus. For he shall save his
people from their sins. But that man, Jesus, is also
the king of the Jews. And testimony is given to this
fact in all four Gospels on the day on which Christ was crucified. In all four Gospels there is
mention of the superscription which Pilate had nailed to Christ's
cross, stating who he was. In Matthew 27, verse 37, we read,
and set up over his head his accusation written, this is Jesus,
the King of the Jews. This is Jesus, the King of the
Jews. Mark, likewise, Mark 15 and verse
26 records. Verse 25, it was the third hour
and they crucified him and the superscription of his accusation
was written over the king of the Jews. Luke 23. The people mock him in verse
37 and say, if thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself. and a superscription also was
written over him in letters of Greek and Latin and Hebrew. This is the King of the Jews. This is the King of the Jews.
Finally, John also in his Gospel bears testimony. John 19. where we read, and Pilate wrote
a title and put it on the cross. And the writing was, Jesus of
Nazareth, the King of the Jews. This title then read many of
the Jews for the place where Jesus was crucified was night
of the city and it was written in Hebrew and Greek and Latin. Then said the chief priests of
the Jews that Pilate write not the king of the Jews but that
he said I am the king of the Jews. Pilate answered what I
have written I have written. Now Pilate a godless man in the
hands of a sovereign God wrote what he wrote and what was written
was true. This is Jesus of Nazareth the
King of the Jews. in Hebrew and Greek and Latin
so that whatever language the people that gathered and beheld
spake all could read and all understand and all know what
was written of him, that this is Jesus, the King of the Jews. The world knew and the world
knows and there is no excuse for not knowing. Testimony has
been made universal that this man crucified at Jerusalem was
Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews. This testimony to this
superscription is in all four Gospels. Now there are many things
recorded in the Gospels, but because each Gospel has a definite
purpose to set forth Christ in a different light, they all record
different things and in different orders for that purpose. And
not everything is recorded in each Gospel. Some events are
in three Gospels but not the fourth for example. Other things
are in two Gospels and not the other two. But here is something
which God would have recorded by all four Gospel writers. It's pertinent to all their messages. Matthew, who set forth Christ
as the Messiah, as the King of the Jews, obviously says, this
is Jesus, the King of the Jews. Mark recalled in and said in
4th Christ as the servant of God, as the apostle of God, the
messenger of God sent to his people. Records of the accusation,
the king of the Jews. Luke setting forth Christ as
the Saviour, the Saviour of the world, the Saviour of his people
from the four corners of the earth, sets forth the fact that
this accusation, this superscription was written in Greek, Latin and
Hebrew. This is the King of the Jews. And John setting forth Christ's
divinity, the Son of God, records also plainly, universally, before
all the world of Pilate, right in this title, Jesus of Nazareth,
a man, but a man who is of God, the Son of God, the King of the
Jews, in Hebrew and Greek and Latin, and he brings the divinity
of Christ in through the lips of his opponents. Then said the
chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, write not the king of
the Jews, but that he said, I am king of the Jews. And in so doing,
they invoked from their own lips, unwittingly, his divine title. I am the King of the Jews. As he said on numerous occasions
before them, I am. I am the bread of life. I am the Good Shepherd. I am
the Son of God. I am the King of the Jews. I am God. And Pilate answered,
What I have written, I have written. How important is this universal
testimony in all four Gospels at the time of Christ's death
to declare unto this world that the one nailed upon this cross
is the King of the Jews, the Son of God. answering the question
of the wise men at the beginning of Matthew, where is he that
is born King of the Jews? When they sought him he was in
Bethlehem born. They sought him from the yeast
as it were spiritually coming to Bethlehem in the light of
the resurrection. And that light which sent them
to seek the Son of God was light which was shone forth in this
world because the Son of God came into this world to die for
sinners. Christ Jesus came into the world
to save sinners. The resurrection could only occur
because of the death of Christ and at the death of Christ testimony
was made fourfold in three tongues. This is Jesus, the King of the
Jews. The King of the Jews and the
King of Kings. John, who wrote that Gospel,
was given a revelation on the Isle of Patmos in which he saw
the Son of God in his risen glory and oh what things he saw of
that man of that child born in Bethlehem of that man whom the
wise men sought of that Son of God who was nailed to the tree
of that Saviour who rose victorious of that Saviour who shed his
blood what visions he was given And in chapter 19 of his revelation,
he writes, verse 1, And after these things I heard a great
voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia, salvation and
glory and honour and power unto the Lord our God. for true and
righteous are his judgments for he have judged the great hall
which did corrupt the earth with her fornication and have avenged
the blood of his servants at her hand and again they said
Alleluia and a smoke rose up forever and ever and the four
and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped
God that sat on the throne saying Amen, Alleluia And a voice came
out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants
and ye that fear him, both small and great, And I heard, as it
were, the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters,
and as the voice of mighty thundering, saying, Alleluia, for the Lord
God Omnipotent reigneth. Let us be glad, and rejoice,
and give honour to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb is come,
and His wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted
that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white,
for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto
me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage
supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are
the true sayings of God. and I fell at his feet to worship
him and he said unto me see thou do it not I am thy fellow servant
and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus worship
God for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy and
I saw heaven opened and behold a white horse and he that sat
upon him was called faithful and true and in righteousness
he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire,
and on his head were many crowns, and he had a name written that
no man knew but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture
dipped in blood, and his name is called the Word of God. And the armies which were in
heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen,
white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a
sharp sword, that with which he should smite the nations,
and he shall rule them with a rod of iron. And he treadeth the
winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he
hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King of
Kings and Lord of Lords. And he hath on his vesture and
on his thigh a name written, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. This is he whom the wise men
sought. This is he whom the wise men
found with Mary in Bethlehem. This is He unto whom the wise
men brought their gifts, the gifts for a King. This is He
who was nailed to a cross outside Jerusalem and crucified and had
an inscription above His head in Greek, Hebrew and Latin. This is Jesus, the King of the
Jews. Wise men look for the king. Has God ever taken you, as it
were, to the Isle of Patmos and by the Spirit opened your eyes
and set before you a sight of this man sat upon a white horse,
called faithful and true, whose eyes were as a flame of fire,
who had many crowns upon his head, who has a name written
that no one knows but himself, and who is clothed with a vesture
dipped in blood, his name being the Word of God. This one who
has on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King of
Kings and Lord of Lords. if you have, if you've been given
to see him, if God has made you wise to seek him, if God has
put faith in your heart to look for him and to worship him and
to bow down before him, if God has taken you as he took his
bride who made herself ready for the marriage of the Lamb,
and arrayed you in fine linen, clean and white, the righteousness
of saints, if he's done that for you, then you will look on
in wonder and glory and praise, as the wise men looked on in
wonder and glory and praise, when they came to him at his
coming in Bethlehem, you will worship. But if like Herod, you
despise him, you hate him, you shut your eyes to him, you shut
your ears to him, you trample his blood underfoot if like Herod
and the kings of the earth you hate him then you will find his
fury set against you because John goes on to say of what shall
come in the end times and I saw an angel standing in the sun
and he cried with a loud voice saying to all the fowls that
fly in the midst of heaven come and gather yourselves together
unto the supper of the great God that ye may eat the flesh
of kings and the flesh of captains and the flesh of mighty men and
the flesh of horses and of them that sit on them, and the flesh
of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. And I saw
the beast and the kings of the earth, Herod included, and their
armies gathered together to make war against him that sat on the
horse, and against his army. And the beast was taken. and with him the false prophet
that wrought miracles before him with which he deceived them
that had received the mark of the beast and them that worshipped
his image these both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning
with brimstone and the remnant that was slain with the sword
of him that sat upon the horse whose sword proceeded out of
his mouth and all the fowls were filled with their flesh. Oh,
how these kings, these captains, these mighty men, these men who
hate God and hate His King and hate His Son and hate the Saviour,
oh, what destruction they face. They gather themselves and they
gathered themselves to make war against him that sat on the horse,
Jesus, and against his army. Who are his army? They're all
those clothed in fine linen who come with him riding upon horses. he was clothed with a vesture
dipped in blood and his name is called the word of God and
the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses
clothed in fine linen white and clean his people follow him clothed
in fine linen they're with him and the kings of this earth and
the captains and the mighty men hate Him and hate His armies,
hate His people. And every time they say one word
against one of His people, every time they mock you, O child of
God, every time they scoff at you, O child of God, every time
they laugh at the Gospel which you declare, every time they
despise your Saviour, every time they take His name upon their
lips, and blaspheme and use his name as a common swear word every
time they ridicule both you and he and his gospel they make war
they make battle against him that sat on the horse and against
his army and he will utterly destroy them they shall be cast
alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone and if you're
amongst them and you make war with him or his people if you
despise the gospel if you shut your ears to his word if you
refuse to look for the king and worship him then you will be
found amongst them you may think that today you may think that
today you simply battle other people you may think that today
you simply shut your ears to the testimony of those you laugh
at who follow some religion that you consider is long lost and
buried and for a former age you may count it as nothing to shut
your ears to the gospel of Jesus Christ and the declaration and
testimony of his people of the truth concerning who he is that
he is the king of kings and lord of lords you may think it's nothing
to shut your ears to what they say, or to laugh at what they
say, or to put it off for another day. You may count it as nothing,
but you won't count it as nothing when you stand before He of whom
they speak, when He comes before you riding upon a white horse,
with eyes as flames of fire. and a sword proceeding out of
his mouth and his people follow riding in fine linen upon white
horses and they come and destroy you. You'll look back at this world
of time and regret every moment and every word that you spent
and said against he and his people. You're not fighting men. You're
not fighting myths. You're not fighting the words
of men. You're fighting the king of kings. Wise men look for the king. And David, that great king, made
wise of God unto salvation. Speak of this king in the 21st
Psalm. where we read to the chief musician
of Psalm of David the King shall joy in thy strength O Lord and
in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice thou has given
him his heart's desire and has not withholden the request of
his lips Selah For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness. Thou settest a crown of pure
gold on his head. He asked life of thee, and thou
gavest it him, even length of days for ever and ever. His glory is great in thy salvation. Honour and majesty hast thou
laid upon him. For thou hast made him most blessed
for ever. Thou hast made him exceeding
glad with thy countenance. For the king trusteth in the
Lord, and through the mercy of the Most High he shall not be
moved. Thine hand shall find out all
thine enemies. Thy right hand shall find out
those that hate thee. Thou shalt make them as a fiery
oven in the time of thine anger. The Lord shall swallow them up
in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them. Their fruit shalt
thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the
children of men. For they intended evil against
thee. They imagined a mischievous device
which they are not able to perform. Therefore, shalt thou make them
turn their back when thou shalt make ready thine arrows upon
thy strings against the face of them be thou exalted Lord
in thine own strength so will we sing and praise thy power
oh what a psalm in its declaration and praise and lifting up of
the King in all his glory and oh what a mirror of what we have
seen with Herod and his reaction to that king born in Bethlehem
and with the kings of the earth and the captains and the mighty
men of whom we have read in Revelation 19 and how God will judge them
and put them into a lake burning with fire and brimstone. Thine
hand shall find out all thine enemies Thy right hand shall
find out those that hate thee. Thou shalt make them as a fiery
oven in the time of thine anger. The Lord shall swallow them up
in his wrath and the fire shall devour them. Their fruit shalt
thou destroy from the earth and their seed from among the children
of men. For they intended evil against thee as Herod did, as
you may do. They imagined a mischievous device. which they are not able to perform. Herod sought to slay the king
of the Jews. He put all the children in Bethlehem
and round about age two and under to death. and he could not lay
a finger upon Jesus of Nazareth because Jesus is the Lord's anointed,
his king, and God won't let him die until God says now. Do you intend evil against Christ,
his gospel, his people? Do you imagine mischievous things? which you cannot perform. You may hate and despise God's
people. You may hate and despise their
saviour Jesus Christ. You may seek to trample them
underfoot because they testify of him. You may seek to trample
the gospel underfoot and try to silence it from this world.
You may say it's gone, it's past, let's shut up all the churches.
Let's ban the preaching of the gospel. Let's silence these troubling
Christians. Let's get rid of this testimony
in the world. You may, with all the peoples
of the world, with the backing of all the kings and the mighty
men and the captains, You may with the moving of every nation
and all the media behind you, you may with all the strength
in this world do everything you can to silence the testimony
of Jesus Christ, but you cannot. they cannot the world cannot
you cannot the voice cries out the blood of the innocent cryeth
out like Abel's blood when Cain slew him that blood yet speaketh
It cries out from the ground and says, this man crucified
at the cross at Jerusalem is the King of Kings. This is Jesus,
the King of the Jews, the very blood shed when you put these
and him and this message to death. When you trample it underfoot,
it shouts out all the louder. When men despise the testimony
of Christ and trample His blood underfoot, that blood shouts
victoriously that Christ has died and wrought a victory. It shouts that He has delivered
His people from their sins. It shouts that He has saved His
people forevermore. It shouts that He has brought
in everlasting righteousness. It shouts out, it is finished. It shouts out, this is the King
of the Jews. The enemies of God cannot silence
the Gospel and they cannot silence David in his praise and adulation
in the first seven verses of this psalm of the King as he
looks in prophecy. to the King to come, his Son,
the Lord Jesus Christ. The King shall joy in thy strength,
O Lord, and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice. O how Christ joys in the strength
of God, and how he rejoices in that salvation which God has
wrought through him at the cross. Thou has given him his heart's
desire and has not withholden the request of his lips. He longed
for his bride. He longed for his people. God
in eternity laid the names of a people upon the heart of the
Saviour. Before ever he came into this
world. Before ever he was born in Bethlehem. Before ever he was nailed to
the cross. Before ever Pilate wrote an inscription,
this is Jesus, the King of the Jews. He loved and he longed
for that bride and he came for her. He came into this world
of darkness for her. He came as a light, a light,
a star, a sun. which rises in the East. He came
to deliver his people from their sins and God did not withhold
from him his heart's desire. It meant his death. It meant
he must suffer. It meant he must endure three
hours in the darkness. He meant his own father must
beat him and bruise him and slay him. It meant agony. unimaginable agony. It meant
the rejection of all men. It meant the hatred of all men. It meant the fires of hell, the
fires of God's wrath. It meant an eternity of judgment
in the hours upon the cross. It meant the most appalling rejection,
the most appalling suffering, not physical but spiritual. It meant he must die. Yet he
loved his people. He loved his bride, he desired
their salvation, he desired her salvation, he desired her righteousness
and God would not withhold it from him. and when he cried out
on the cross it is finished it was God had judged every sin,
every spot, every blemish upon his bride which would prevent
her being brought to peace with God and brought to everlasting
salvation and when it was finished the righteousness of God was
hers she was then clothed in fine linen the righteousness
of saints and she rose up with Him upon a white horse, to follow
Him through battle unto glory for evermore. For thou preventest
Him with the blessings of goodness. Thou settest a crown of pure
gold on His head. It says in Revelation He was
crowned with many crowns. He's the King. He has a crown
upon his head. He has a robe of righteousness. He has a scepter in his hand. He has a sword. He's the king. He's all glorious, all powerful. He's sovereign. There is no power
in earth or in heaven that can stand in his way. Satan moved
all the earth against him. Satan moves all the earth against
him. He moves the kings, the captains,
the mighty men. He moves you and I against him. And this king rides forth and
destroys all his enemies. He is all victorious. and before
him he is showered with blessings of goodness thou settest a crown
of pure gold on his head he asked life of thee and thou gavest
it to him even length of days forever and ever he came he laid
down his life but he rose again and he lived forever and ever
and he will never die he will never have that life taken away
he will never endure what he endured then he will come again
the second time without sin because he took sin away and death by
sin he destroyed death through his death. His glory is great
in thy salvation honour and majesty has thou laid upon him how gloriously
he is arraigned when he died he rose again when he rose again
he ascended and he sat down at the right hand of Almighty God
arrayed in fine linen arrayed in glory crowned and his glory
is in that salvation which he wrought for his people he is
the king of kings and lord of lords as a man he was jesus as
the risen son of god he is the lord jesus christ For thou hast
made him most blessed for ever, thou hast made him exceeding
glad with thy countenance. For the king trusteth in the
Lord, and through the mercy of the Most High he shall not be
moved. He trusteth in the Lord, he trusted,
he has faith, he trusted all his days, he came into this world,
into the darkness to suffer death, knowing that all that was promised
by his Father unto him would be brought to pass, knowing that
his death would accomplish all that he was promised in that
eternal covenant of grace, knowing that that death would accomplish
everything, knowing that that bride who was filthy in her iniquity
and sin, rebels to the last, knowing that bride would be washed
clean and made righteous, knowing that when he died he would rise
again with everlasting life. Oh the faith of Jesus Christ! Oh the faith in the hours of
darkness! when he endured the agony of
God's judgment and wrath, when he drank the fires, when he was
thrown as it were into that lake of fire, when he was made as
a fiery oven in the time of God's anger, When God's wrath was upon
him he believed, he trusted, he knew that he would deliver
his people, that all would be well, that he would finish the
work which God had given him to do, that he would rise victorious
and that he would ride forth on a white horse with his raiment
dipped in blood. For the king trusteth in the
Lord, and through the mercy of the Most High he shall not be
moved. He shall destroy all his enemies.
And as David says at the end, Be thou exalted, Lord, in thine
own strength. So will we sing and praise thy
power. We will sing of the king. We
have sought the king and found him. We came from the East in
the light of the Gospel, in the light of the Resurrection, seeing
the risen Son of God. We came and we sought Him. We
came saying, where is He that is born King of the Jews? We
came to the Scripture and said, where is He that is born King
of the Jews? We came to the Gospel and said,
where is the King? We came to the Lord and said,
where is the King? Lead me unto Christ. And if you're Christ, if you're
one of those for whom he shed his blood. If you're one of those
whom the Spirit has come unto to bring you out of darkness,
to quicken you unto life by the Gospel, then you will have your
eyes opened. You will be given the faith,
the faith of Jesus Christ to behold Him and to see Him, to
see Him in His death, to see Him in His glory, to see Him
riding upon that white horse, to see Him in His garment dipped
with blood. to see His name, the Word of
God. You will have come to the written
Word of God looking for the King and found in that Word by God's
grace and by His Spirit, the Word of God. He's not in the
book, in the letter, but when the Spirit opens your eyes and
says these things of which these words testify, this is He. These words point to Him, here
He is. If you come looking for the King
and God has made you wise to look for Him and the Spirit of
God has made you wise and brought you to behold Him, you will see
in the Word of God the Word of God. You will see in the Gospel
one sat upon a white horse, clove with a vesture dipped in blood,
who will destroy all his enemies and will lead all his people
victorious into a heavenly kingdom where they will dwell around
his throne, around the throne of the Lamb of God, around the
throne of the King of Kings, around the throne of the Lord
of Lords forevermore, where they will live and reign with him
forevermore as he brought you there. Has He brought you there? Have you sought the Lord? Have you sought the King? Have
you found Him? Wise men look for the King. Wise men look for the King. And they find him at a cross
with a superscription above his head. This is Jesus, the King
of the Jews. And they find him at the open
tomb, risen. They find him in the garden as
Mary found him. They find him by faith in glory,
seated on the right hand of the Father. Where is he that is born
King of the Jews? In the Gospel! Be thou exalted,
Lord, in thine own strength, so will we sing, and praise thy
power. The power of God is the Gospel
of Jesus Christ. We'll sing of that Gospel, we'll
praise that Gospel, we'll rejoice in that Gospel, for through that
Gospel, by the Spirit of God, We as wise men, if we're made
wise, were brought to look for a king and when we were brought,
when the star led us to where he was, we fell down and laid
our gifts before him and worshipped. Have you, with these people,
who ride upon white horses, arrayed in fine linen, have you looked
for that King? Are you wise? Have you found
Him? Have you bowed before Him? Have
you given Him gifts for a King? Do you worship? Wise men look
for the King. Amen.

Pristine Grace functions as a digital library of preaching and teaching from many different men and ministries. I maintain a broad collection for research, study, and listening, and the presence of any preacher or message here should not be taken as a blanket endorsement of every doctrinal position expressed.
I publish my own convictions openly and without hesitation throughout this site and in my own preaching and writing. This archive is not a denominational clearinghouse. My aim in maintaining it is to preserve historic and contemporary preaching, encourage careful study, and above all direct readers and listeners to the person and work of Christ.
