Genesis 28:10-15
And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran.
11 And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.
12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.
13 And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;
14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
15 And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.
16 ¶ And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not.

Genesis 28 this morning and notice
verse 12 verse 12 and verse 13 of Genesis 28 and Jacob dreamed
as he was sleeping and behold a ladder a ladder set upon the
earth and the top of that ladder reached to heaven and behold
the angels of God ascending on that ladder and descending on
that ladder. It must have been a special ladder. And behold, the Lord Jehovah,
L-O-R-D capital, stood above it and said, pronounced, I am
that I am. I am the Lord God of Abraham,
thy father. I'm the God of Isaac, the land
whereon thou liest, to thee, to thee will I give it, and to
thy seed, to thy seed." I'm entitling the message from verse 12, Christ
Our Ladder. Christ Our Ladder. Now we know
from reading the earlier scripture found in first, or rather found
in the first chapter of John, John 1 verse 51, The Lord Jesus
Christ refers to this latter in reference to Himself and the
blessings found in Him and the blessings that are received through
Him, Christ Himself. As I've told you many times before,
everything in the Bible, everything in the Bible, Everything in the
Bible has reference to the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and
His love and His mercy and His grace to poor sons of Jacob,
those poor sinners who are blessed by the God of Jacob, the Lord
Jesus Christ. You remember our Lord said in
John 5, to those Pharisees, you do search the Scriptures, but
the Scriptures always testify of the Lord Jesus Christ. Everything
God has for sinners is found in the Lord Jesus Christ. Now there's many things about
Jacob that are difficult to understand. Some of the things he did and
what happened to him. Turn back over here one page.
Jacob's name means supplanter, means deceiver. In Genesis 27,
when Jacob had stolen the blessing and deceived Isaac, his father,
Esau said of him, when Isaac said, thy brother, verse 35,
came suddenly and had taken away thy blessing. He deceived Isaac. And he said, that is Esau, verse
36, is not he rightly named Jacob? Notice the marginal reference,
supplanter. For he hath supplanted me these
two times. He took away my birthright, and
behold, now he hath taken away my blessing. And he said, that
is Isaac, or Esau, hast thou not reserved a blessing for me?
This is Esau addressing Isaac. Esau knew something about his
twin brother Jacob, didn't he? And he said, you're rightly named
a supplanter. Jacob did many things that are
hard for us to understand. But one thing is certain, one
thing is for sure, he is one of God's chosen. One thing is
for sure, he did not merit any blessings at all, did he? Matter
of fact, he deserved just the opposite, the wages of sin is
death. But one thing is certain, he was blessed of God, chosen
of God. One thing is certain, he's one
of God's elect, chosen unto salvation. That's true of everyone who believes
the gospel. We are bound to give thanks to
God for you, beloved of the Lord, because the Lord hath from the
beginning chosen a people unto salvation. One thing we know
about Jacob, he's not only chosen of God and one of God's elect,
he's loved of God with an everlasting sovereign love. Now last week
we read from Romans chapter 9 where it says about Esau and Jacob,
the two boys, that the purpose of God, the twin boys, according
to election might stand, the elder shall serve the younger.
God arranged that and God told Rebekah that. And then it said,
Jacob have I loved, this is what God says of Jacob, Jacob have
I loved, Esau have I hated. It is not true that God loves
all men everywhere without exception, because that scripture teaches
God sovereignly loves whom He will. Jacob also was chosen of
God, he's one of God's elect. He was loved of God with that
everlasting sovereign love of which God loves all of His people.
Something else we know about Jacob, Jacob was bought with
a price. What was that pride? The blood
of Christ. The blood of the Lord Jesus Christ
cleansed all the sins of Jacob. Had to be. The only way God could
show him mercy was for Christ's sake. Jacob was one redeemed
with the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. This story of Jacob's
salvation by God's sovereign grace is again teaching us how
God justifies the ungodly only in Christ. You see, there is
no salvation for any sinner apart from being found in Christ. That's why Paul said, Oh, I count
everything else lost, dung, and ruined, that I might win Christ
and be found in Him. There is no salvation for any
sinner apart from Christ. He brought out everlasting righteousness
for us. And He brought in everlasting
salvation for us. You see, salvation is of the
Lord, and neither is there salvation in any other. Look at verse 12
again, Genesis 28. And He dreamed. And behold, a ladder, a ladder
set up upon the earth. Now, I've had some terrible dreams. I've had some dreams that are
pleasant dreams. As a matter of fact, I dreamed
a dream last night that is really ridiculous. I dreamed that I
found a big, huge diamond. I mean, it was a big, huge diamond. And I was trying to take it to
a seller, someone who was trying to sell it to someone to purchase
it, to cut it all up and divide it among my friends so we could
all be rich. You see, we can't trust dreams,
can we? We can't. Don't do it. But here,
at this time, because God says so in His Word, this certain
particular dream was given to Jacob. Just like when Solomon
had that special dream and God appeared unto him. Now, in this
dream, he dreamed about a ladder. About a ladder. Now, all of us
here, Understand the purpose of a ladder, don't we? We all
know what we do with a ladder. It's used to get from a low place
to a high place. When you work on a house, if
you work around the house, you're going to have a ladder. I know
when we were building the new house, the new parsonage, we
had on that job, we had a lot of ladders, didn't we? I mean,
we had short ladders. We had step ladders. We had extension
ladders. We had long ladders. We had all
kind of ladders for different things. On the construction site,
there's always many different kinds of ladders. and all serve
their particular purpose. To get you from a higher place,
to get you to a higher place from a low place, or from a high
place sometimes down to a lower place. Sometimes you need a ladder
to get down, don't you? But you use a ladder. It's a
means to get from one place to another. In this building, I
have two ladders. a step ladder and one of those
multifunction ladders. And I use them all the time.
Changing light bulbs, doing different things, clearing out the drain
gutters. Ladders are useful. We all understand the purpose
of a ladder. The Lord Jesus Christ is our
ladder. How are we going to get from
this low place in which we live to that high point in heaven,
not the long way away, by the ladder of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is that ladder. I thought
about this. Every time we pick up a ladder,
maybe from now on we'll remember this. Every time we pick up a
ladder or go to find the ladder, we should always think about
Christ. He is our ladder. You know everything around us
in some way or some measure preaches to us the gospel. Everything. Everything. The heaven declared
the glory of God. So next time you pick up a ladder,
think about Christ. He's my ladder. He's my ladder. Now this ladder in our story
here stood upon the earth and it reached into heaven. So too
the Lord Jesus Christ as a God-man mediator, as a real man, stood
upon this earth But he never ceased being God. Actually, it
says this. Let's turn and read this. Find
John chapter 3 this time. John chapter 3. As the Lord Jesus
Christ, God incarnate in the flesh, a real man. It also says
this in John chapter 3. As he's God, he never left heaven. Now think about that. Look what
it said, John chapter 3. And our Lord here is addressing
Nicodemus, the religious Jew, the Pharisee. Verily, verily,
I say unto thee, we speak that we do know, and we testify that
we have seen, and you receive not our witness. I've told you
earthly things, and you believe not. How shall you believe if
I tell you heavenly things? No man hath ascended up to heaven,
but he that came down from heaven, even a son of man, which is in
heaven. Now how can he be upon the earth
and in heaven at the same time? Because he's God, the everywhere
present God. And this ladder is a picture
of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Secondly, the angels
of God went up and down on this ladder which Jacob saw. Even
so, in Christ alone are we able to ascend into the very presence
of God. Heaven's been opened. The gate,
Jacob says here, this is the house of God, this is the gate
of heaven. The Lord Jesus Christ, he calls
himself the door of salvation. He is the gate of heaven. We
only have access to God's presence through Christ, our ladder. The
Lord said, I'm the way, I'm the truth, I'm the life, right? No
man comes to the Father but by and through me. He is the way. He is the only way of salvation. Notice this as well, the ladder,
above the ladder, the Lord God stood above the ladder. Did you
see that in verse 13? Behold, behold the ladder, And
then it says, Behold, the Lord stood above the ladder. The Lord
God stood above this ladder and made promises of grace to Jacob
through Christ this ladder. All spiritual blessings and all
promises of grace come to us through one Mediator. They come
one way, and that's in Christ. And no other way. He's blessed
us with all spiritual blessings in the heavenlies only in the
Lord Jesus Christ. Now, what kind of ladder is the
Lord Jesus Christ? Well, I know this. He's one of
a kind. There's none like Him. We read in Isaiah 45, He says,
I am God beside me, there is no other Savior. I'm the only
just God and Savior. What kind of ladder is the Lord
Jesus Christ? He's one of a kind. He's a special
ladder designed of God, purposed of God, given of God. Now, several
things about this ladder concerning the Lord Jesus Christ. It says
here, Behold! Behold! You take a good look
at it. Behold this ladder. And this
is a picture of Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ is the
living ladder. He is called The new and living
way. The Lord Jesus Christ is the
fountain of life, giving water, he said to the woman at the well.
We have been turned from our idols, turned to God, from our
idols to the true and living God, the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the living ladder. He is,
it says in John chapter 6, He is the living bread which came
down from heaven that a man may eat thereof and never die. He's
the living ladder. Everything about the Lord Jesus
Christ is living. He died for our sins that we
might have life. He died for our sins, but He
ever lived to intercede for us. He is life. He is salvation. He that hath the Son hath life. He's the living way. He's the
living ladder. There's salvation for sinners,
but only in Christ. Christ. He's the living ladder. Secondly, He's the long ladder. He's the long ladder. The ladder
here is upon the earth. But it also reaches to the very
presence of God. That's a long way, isn't it?
That's a long ladder. The Lord Jesus Christ was made
of a woman. He descended into the lower parts
of the earth as a real man. He stood on this earth. He descended
to this earth. God incarnate, God in human flesh. In the fullness of time, God
sent forth His Son made of a woman, made under the law to redeem
them. The Lord Jesus Christ became
what He was not, flesh, but He never stopped being the eternal,
holy, most sovereign God. He's the long ladder that reached
from heaven all the way down to the earth. Turn over here
to Philippians chapter 2. We see something of this description
found in Philippians chapter 2. Philippians chapter 2 verse 5,
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus, who
being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with
God, but made himself of no reputation, took upon him the form of a servant,
and was made in the likeness of men. He was a real man upon
this earth, and yet He is eternal God, the God-man mediator. Being found in fashion as a man,
He humbled Himself, became obedient unto death, even the death of
the cross. Wherefore, God also hath highly exalted Him, and
given Him a name which is above every name, that at that name
every knee should bow, of things in heaven, things in the earth,
and things under the earth. The Word was made flesh and dwelt
among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten
of the Father, full of grace and truth." Now think about this. The Lord Jesus Christ had to
be both man and at the same time God in order to redeem us. He had to be the God-man, God
manifested in the flesh. Paul said, without controversy,
great is the mystery of godliness, God was manifested in the flesh.
Why did he have to be the God-man mediator? Man alone could not
satisfy, God alone could not suffer. But the Lord Jesus Christ
did both. He satisfied his own law, suffered
for our sins, suffered for the sins of his people to redeem
them from the curse of the law that he might bring us unto God. He is that long ladder. He redeemed us from the curse
of the law being made a curse for us. It's only the God-man
mediator that can satisfy both God both God and as the God-man
mediator, as the real man, put away our sin and honor the law
of God that we have broken. God was in Christ reconciling
us to Himself in Christ Jesus. His name indeed is Emmanuel,
which means God with us. The Lord Jesus Christ is that
living ladder. He's that long ladder that reaches
to heaven. and yet reaches right down to
the depths of our sin to lift us and redeem us by His grace. Thirdly, this ladder, the Lord
Jesus Christ, He is the lasting ladder. Now, natural ladders
need to be inspected, don't they? You inspect your ladders, or
somebody does on the job. Natural ladders need to be inspected
because to make sure they're safe. Natural ladders, they wear
out. They break down. Sometimes they
crack different things. But the Lord Jesus Christ is
the lasting ladder. He never changes. He never changes. He never breaks
down. He never wears out, because He
shall never fail. He said, I am the Lord, I change
not, therefore you sons of Jacob are not consumed. He is the lasting
Savior. He has brought in everlasting
salvation for us. Everything the Lord has accomplished
for us in the way of salvation is not temporary. Is it? It's everlasting. It's eternal. I'll give you four or five things
here. Everything the Lord Jesus has accomplished for us in the
way of salvation is eternal. For He has redeemed us As our great High Priest, He
obtained for us eternal redemption with His own blood. You see,
it's eternal redemption. He was brought in for us as the
God-man mediator, and went about in His faithfulness, and He has
brought in for us an everlasting righteousness, which He freely
gives us by His grace. We're regenerated by the grace
of God, by the power of God. You hath he quickened who were
dead. And when he gives us the eternal life, he said, I give
unto my sheep eternal life and they shall never perish. He doesn't
give life and then take it away. He doesn't give us temporary
life. He gives us eternal life. And we are eternally reconciled
unto God in Christ. Nothing can separate us from
the love of God which is in the Lord Jesus Christ. He's that
lasting ladder. He's that long ladder. He is
that living ladder. Further, Christ is free. He's the free ladder. He's the
free ladder. Now, if you're going to have
a good ladder, you go over there to Lowe's and they rate them
in different colors by different weight bearing. And if you get
a good ladder, you're going to pay a price for it. They don't
give those things away at Lowe's. Go over to Lowe's next week and
say, I want a free ladder. What? A free ladder? We don't
have any free ladders. But my friend, the Lord Jesus
Christ, he's the free ladder. He's a long ladder. He's a real
ladder. You see, He's the freeway of
salvation. My favorite scripture. One of
my favorites. Romans 8. Verse 32, He that spared
not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall
He not with Him also freely give us all things? We're justified
freely by His grace. You see the Lord Jesus Christ,
He paid all our sin debt, that makes salvation to us free, free. He loves His people freely with
an everlasting love and nothing can separate us from the love
of God which is in the Lord Jesus Christ. As a matter of fact,
he says that in Hosea 14, I will love them freely. Isaiah 55 says,
O everyone that's thirsty, come eat to the waters. Come buy and
eat without money and without pride. The point I'm making is
that salvation is free. It's free. It's free. To every
needy sinner, look to Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ. Salvation
is the free gift of God. The wages of sin is death. The
gift of God is eternal life. Now here's the fifth thing. The
Lord Jesus Christ is that ladder that fits our every need. He fits the need. He's a suitable
ladder. Now sometimes on a job you need
a short ladder. Sometimes you need a long ladder.
Sometimes you have to build a special ladder for a special job. You
have to find a suitable ladder for the suitable job. The Lord
Jesus Christ is that suitable ladder that fits every need the
sinner has. We have a sin problem. We have
a sin problem. We have a pollution problem.
The Lord Jesus Christ is the solution, and forgive me, but
this is just the way it came out. Christ is the solution to
our pollution. He's the solution to our pollution.
I mean, we're polluted with sin. There's none righteous, no not
one. How's God going to make this sinner righteous? Only in
Christ. He fits my every need. He is a suitable ladder. We have great sin. The Lord Jesus
Christ is our greater Savior. He came to save us from our sin.
Remember the messenger from heaven said, call His name Jesus? He
shall save His people from their sin. When He had by Himself purged
our sin, He sat down on the right hand of God as the forerunner. He's already ascended to glory
and He's seated in the heavenlies. And you know what? I've said
this, and I read this, I've said this, and the reason I say these
things is because this is what I read in the Scripture. In Ephesians
chapter 2, when it says the Lord Jesus Christ ascended, now He
descended first, didn't He? He also ascended when He put
away our sin. He ascended and He sat down.
But you know what? We have already ascended in Him. We have already ascended in Him,
in Christ. Let's see if we can read that
together. Turn with me. Turn to Ephesians
chapter 2. You see, you remember our study
from Romans chapter 5, that the Lord Jesus Christ died for the
ungodly, and then it says in Hebrews chapter 6, He ascended
on high as our forerunner, and He's seated in the heavenlies,
and we're seated in Him. Look at Ephesians chapter 2.
Ephesians chapter 2. You see, We have great sin, but
the Lord is our great Savior. He put away our sin by the sacrifice
of Himself, and He ascended to glory, and we ascended in Him. Ephesians 2 verse 4, But God,
who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved
us, even when we were dead in sin, hath quickened us together
with Christ, by grace are you saved, and half raised us up
together, made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ
Jesus. You see what that's saying? You
see the Lord Jesus Christ came as a representative man. He represented
us before the Father as our Great High Priest. And what's true
of Him is true of us because we're one with Him. We have eternal
union with Him. When He died at Calvary, we're
crucified with Christ. Sin has already exacted its full
penalty upon us as we are identified with the representative, the
Lord Jesus Christ. He put away our sin. By one man's
disobedience, many were made sinners. By the obedience of
one, shall many be made righteous in Christ Jesus. We're already
seated in the heavenlies in the Lord Jesus Christ. Representatively,
in Him, what's true of the head is true of the body. We have
great sin, but He's our great Savior. talking about the ladder
of the Lord Jesus that fits our every need. We have great guilt,
don't we? He has great grace for the guilty.
Where sin abounded, grace does much more abound. There is not a need that we have
that the Lord Jesus Christ doesn't meet fully, freely, and eternally. My God shall supply all your
need according to His riches in the Lord Jesus Christ. Find
over here 1 Corinthians chapter 1. My God shall supply all your
need according to His riches in glory through the Lord Jesus
Christ. He is a ladder that fits my every
need. And I have great need, but He's
the great provider. Abraham declared, the Lord shall
provide, remember? And He's provided for us. There
is not a need that I have, 1 Corinthians chapter 1, verse 30. We quote this all the time. Probably
already quoted it this morning a couple of times. You see verse
30? But of him are you in Christ. How did you get in Christ? God
put me there. by his grace in Christ Jesus. Salvation is not being a member
of the church, salvation is being one with Christ. Who of God is
made unto me, made unto us, he's my wisdom. What wisdom does it
take to understand the mysteries of the gospel? It takes godly
wisdom given of God. You see, by nature, we don't
have any understanding. But the Lord Jesus Christ, He
gives us understanding. He gives us wisdom to see the
gospel fulfilled in Christ. He is my wisdom. He is my righteousness. Now I know, in and of myself,
I have no righteousness. Do we? There is none righteous, no,
not one. As a matter of fact, the best righteousness we have,
God said it's filthy, rides away with it. You see, He is my wisdom. He gives me understanding. The
natural man doesn't receive the things of God. He's got to give
us wisdom to understand the gospel. And then He has to give us righteousness.
and to make us righteous in Christ. God made Him to be sin for us
who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of
God in Him. You see, He is my righteousness. He is the Lord,
our righteousness. And He is made to me, He's my
holiness. He's my sanctification. How holy
do I need to be to stand before God? Think about that. How holy do you need to be to
stand before God accepted? You've got to be as holy as God. You see, He's too holy to look
upon sin. You've got to be as holy as God.
Without holiness, no man shall see the Lord. Or my soul, where
am I going to find that? Holiness in Christ. He is my
holiness. He is my sanctification, and
He is my redemption. He has redeemed His people from
all their sin. You see, the Lord Jesus Christ,
this ladder that God has provided, I mean, God has given this ladder,
it's got to work, because it can't fail. It'll never break. It's a long ladder, it's a living
ladder, it's the only ladder that meets my every need. Christ
is my ladder. Now, next time you grab hold
of the ladder, you think about the gospel of the Lord Jesus
Christ. Here's the last thing. The Lord
Jesus Christ is the only ladder. He's the only ladder. The only
ladder. Now many think, many think they
need no ladder. Or many think they can provide
their own ladder. They think they can climb up
to glory some other way by their deeds or by their efforts, by
their works. There's a story over in earlier parts of the
book of Genesis about the Tower of Babel. You remember those
folks thought they were going to build their way to heaven. They thought they were going
to work their way to heaven. God said it won't work. Christ
is the ladder. He's the only ladder. We can't
climb up some other way. Our Lord said, no man can come
to me except the Father which sent me. Draw him. God declared that the Lord Jesus
Christ is the only ladder, the only foundation. Turn over here
to John chapter 10. He is the only door. He said, I am the way, the truth,
the life. John chapter 10, turn over there. He that would climb up some other
way, the Lord said he's a thief and a robber. In John chapter
10, verse 7, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door
of the sheep. What did Jacob say over here
when he rose up? This is the house of God. This
is the gate of heaven. The Lord Jesus Christ is our
acceptance. We're accepted in the Beloved.
Verily, I am the door of the sheep. All that ever came before
me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep didn't hear them. I
am the door. Now look at verse 9, John 10
verse 9. I am the door. The door. Now we all understand
the purpose of the door. We all understand the purpose
of the ladder. I am the door, by me if any man enter in. How do you enter in? By me. The
Lord's doing. He shall be saved. He shall be. We enter in by His grace. He
shall be saved and He shall go in and out and find pasture. What does that mean? Does that
mean we go into salvation and then we go out of salvation?
One day we're in and one day we're out. No, that means we
go into eternal life in Christ, out of bondage, death and sin,
into Christ and we shall find Hashter. He's the good shepherd
who leads his sheep. There is just one way, one door,
one foundation. There's just one gospel, one
faith, one Lord, one hope, one truth. The whole, he says, the
latter. Now look at verse 13 back in
our text. And here's the second behold,
verse 13. And behold, the Lord stood above
it and said, I am the covenant God, the Lord God of Abraham,
the Lord God, Almighty God of Isaac, the land wherein, the
land whereon that you lie, to thee I will give it and to thy
seed. Does He have the right to give
what He wants? He said, I am the Lord. I change not. The Lord stood above it. The
Lord stood above it. God the Father, our eternal Jehovah,
is above all things, ordering all things, decreeing all things,
controlling all things, overruling all things to the glory of His
name. Of Him and through Him and to
Him are all things. The point being, He is the sovereign
God in creation, providence, and salvation. He said, I will give it to thee,
because it pleased the Lord to do so. Now, here's the third
behold. Look down at verse 15. He said,
Behold the latter. Behold your God. Behold, verse
15, I am with you. I am with you." The Lord said,
I'll never leave you, I'll never forsake you. I am with you. He said, I will keep you. We're capped by the power of
God. I will bring thee again into this land. I will not leave
thee until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of." Now
notice how many times he says, I will, I will, I will, I will. You see, salvation is by the
will of God. Not of him that willeth, nor
of him that runneth, but it's God that shows mercy. I will give it to you and to
your children. These are sovereign blessings.
Sovereignly given of God. The last part of verse 14 says
this, And in thy seed shall all families of the earth be blessed. Now who is this seed? Turn to
Galatians chapter 3 and I'll let you go with this. This again
is a reference to the Lord Jesus Christ. He's the seed of woman,
promised seed of woman, that would crush Satan's dominion
and put away our sin. Galatians chapter 3, In thee,
in thy seed, shall all the families of the earth be blessed. Galatians
chapter 3, look at verse 6, Galatians 3 verse 6, Even as Abraham believed
God, And it was accounted, imputed to him for righteousness. Know
ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the
children of Abraham. And the scripture foreseeing
that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before
the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be
blessed. So then, they which be of faith
are blessed with faithful Abraham. Now Galatians chapter 3, look
at verse 16. God is making a promise to Abraham,
to Isaac, and to Jacob, and to all the sons of Jacob, redeemed
by the blood of Christ, loved of God, salvation through this
promised one, the Lord Jesus. Galatians 3 verse 16, Now to
Abraham and his seed were the promises made, and he saith not,
and to seeds, as of many, but as of one unto thy seed which
is Christ." He's the seed. He is life. Now again, in the
same chapter, verse 26, Galatians 3, 26, For ye are all children
of God, by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many as ye have been baptized
into Christ, have put on Christ, There is neither Jew nor Greek,
there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female,
for you are all one in Christ. And if you be Christ, then are
you Abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise, the
promise of life in Christ Jesus. Now, can you turn to one more
place? Psalm 146. Turn over there. Psalm
146. The Lord said to Malachi, I am
the Lord, I change not, therefore you sons of Jacob are not consumed. Many times throughout the Scripture,
our Lord and our God is called the God of Jacob. Psalm 146. Verse 1. Praise ye the Lord.
Praise the Lord, O my soul. While I live will I praise the
Lord. I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.
Put not your trust in princes, nor in a son of man, in whom
there is no help, no salvation, not in any son of man, any son
of Adam. His breath goeth forth, he returneth
to his earth. In that very day his thoughts
perish, happy is he, verse 5, happy is he that hath the God
of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God. Happy is that man who knows the
God of Jacob, covenant God in Christ Jesus.
