John 10:28-30
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
30 I and my Father are one.
What does the Bible say about eternal security?

The Bible teaches that true believers shall never perish, as stated in John 10:28-30.

The doctrine of eternal security asserts that once a person is genuinely saved, they cannot lose their salvation. This assurance is rooted in Jesus' own words in John 10:28-30, where He states, 'I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.' This illustrates that the salvation provided by Christ is absolute and unshakeable, based on His sovereign grace rather than human effort or merit. Believers are secure in Christ, who, through His death and resurrection, has secured their eternal destiny.

John 10:28-30, John 6:37, 1 Peter 1:5

How do we know salvation is a gift from God?

Salvation is described in the Bible as a sovereign and free gift from God, not something earned or merited.

The Bible provides clear evidence that salvation is a gift, highlighting the grace of God in bestowing it upon undeserving sinners. Scriptures such as Ephesians 2:8-9 declare, 'For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.' This underscores that salvation is solely the work of Christ and is given freely to those whom He has chosen. The acknowledgment that grace cannot be earned emphasizes the unmerited favor of God towards His elect, which is foundational in Reformed theology.

Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 6:23

Why is the concept of irresistible grace important for Christians?

Irresistible grace ensures that those chosen by God will inevitably come to faith and be saved.

The doctrine of irresistible grace is crucial for understanding how God saves His elect. According to this theology, when God calls His chosen ones, they cannot resist His call. This reflects the sovereignty and effectiveness of God's grace in drawing sinners to Himself. It aligns with verses like John 6:37, where Jesus says, 'All that the Father giveth me shall come to me.' This guarantees that God's purpose in salvation will always succeed, as the Holy Spirit works in the hearts of the elect, transforming them and enabling them to respond to the Gospel. This assurance provides comfort and hope to believers, as it emphasizes that their salvation is entirely in God's hands.

Let's read a few verses here,
John 10 verse 27. My sheep, talking about the elect
of God, the sheep of Christ, he says, they hear my voice. He says, I know them, I love
them, and they follow me, they follow me, and I give unto them. This is the reason they hear,
this is the reason they follow, I love them and I give unto them
eternal life and They shall never perish. Neither shall any man pluck them
out of my hand. My Father which gave them me
is greater than all, and no man is able to pluck them out of
my Father's hand. I and my Father, I and the Father,
we're one. Now I'm taking the title for
the message from verse 28 where the Lord says, they shall never
perish. The sheep of Christ can never
be condemned. They can never be eternally and
finally lost. They can never perish. That's
what he says. The good shepherd of the sheep
gave his life to purchase their salvation. We talked about that
last time. And when the Lord Jesus Christ
saves His sheep, saves them by His sovereign and eternal grace,
He saves them with an everlasting salvation. He gives unto them
eternal life. He obtained for them eternal
redemption with His own blood. He's going to keep that which
He bought. And He bought us with His own
blood. He says clearly that the sheep
of Christ shall never, never, never perish. They shall never,
never be condemned. For some time, I don't know how
long, but for some time there has been a rather ungodly notion
about God saves sinners but is not able to secure their salvation
or to keep them saved. Now that teaching is totally
contrary to the Word of God. That is, they say, those who
say that a sinner can be saved and lost again, they say a sinner
may be saved one day and then on another day he may lose his
salvation. or that he may do certain things
that cause him to lose his salvation. People who believe those things
are totally ignorant of the salvation that's of the Lord, the salvation
that is taught in the Word of God. In these verses John 10
and many other verses throughout the scripture teach with great
clarity that believers are saved with an everlasting salvation,
that their salvation in Christ Jesus is absolute, certain, and
secure, and that they shall never perish. They shall never suffer
condemnation. Now this gives me great comfort.
This gives me great hope. The shepherd of the sheep cannot
fail to keep the sheep." These words give me great comfort because
I know my salvation therefore does not depend upon me. It's not conditioned upon me,
my performance. It's conditioned upon His doing,
His dying, His performance. It depends upon the Lord Jesus
Christ alone. And we know the Scriptures declare
of him and his ministry, his priesthood, that he cannot fail.
His salvation is not a failed salvation. His atonement is not
a failed atonement. His righteousness is not a failed
righteousness. The Lord Jesus Christ and the
gospel of God knows nothing about failure. He's successful, victorious. The Lord Jesus Christ is my surety. He's the surety of the everlasting
covenant. He alone is my Savior. He's God my Savior. He alone
is all my victory over sin, death, hell, and the grave. That gives
this sinner comfort. Comfort in the Lord Jesus. Now,
in John 10, last week we looked at verse 23, 24, 25, 26, and
27. And the Lord Jesus Christ told
these lost religious Jews that they did not believe that He
was the Christ because they were not His sheep. You remember they
said, if you be the Christ, tell us. And He said, I told you,
and you believe not. You believe not because you're
not of My sheep. Look at verse 25. The Lord answered
them when they asked that question, if you be the Christ, tell us.
He said, I told you and you believe not. The words, the works that
I do bear witness of me. The works that I do bear witness
of me. My father, they bear witness
and the father's bears witness of me, but you believe not my
works nor my words. The Lord Jesus Christ plainly
revealed who he is, who he was, and what he accomplished, yet
they refused to believe the gospel. He said, I finished the work
that you gave me to do. Turn to John 17. John 17. The works that I do in my Father's
name, they bear witness of me, but you believe not because you're
not of my sheep. He did finish the work the Father
gave him to do. John 17 4, I've glorified thee
on the earth. I finished the work you gave
me to do. He says you believe not because
you're not one of my elect. One does not believe to be a
sheep of Christ. He believes or she believes,
the person believes because he is one of the elect of God, chosen
of God. We read last week from Acts 13
48, as many as were ordained to eternal life, they believe
the Gospel. They believe the Gospel. And
the sheep of Christ, verse 27, sheep of Christ, they hear my
voice. And he says, I know them and
they do follow me. The sheep of the Lord Jesus Christ,
their ear is tuned in to that message. They're on the same
frequency. The sheep will hear the message
of the good shepherd. And because they hear the message
of the good shepherd, they follow him. They forsake the message
of the stranger. They forsake every false refuge,
every false gospel, every false hope, every refuge of lie. They
look to the Lord Jesus Christ alone because they're in love
with him. They are drawn by His irresistible
power. You know how He draws us by His
irresistible power? He makes Himself irresistible. You must have Him. The sheep
of Christ, they hear His message, they follow Him because they're
in love with Him. They're drawn by His irresistible
power. They are hungry for His presence. They're thirsty for the water
of life. He says to every thirsty man,
turn back to John 7, verse 37. John 7, verse 37. If any man
thirsts, anybody thirsts for the water of life, He said, let
him come unto Me and drink. You thirsty? The Lord said, come,
come and drink. He said, my sheep hear my voice.
And then look at verse 27 of John 10. He said, I know them.
I know them." Now this word here is more than just knowledge about
them. This word here has to do with
an intimate love and relationship with them. He loves them, that
is His own, His sheep, He loves them sovereignly, He loves them
eternally, and He loves them with an everlasting salvation,
therefore with loving kindness He says, I draw them unto Me. In 2nd Timothy 1.9, Paul writing
there, and he said, The foundation of God standeth sure, having
this seal. The Lord knoweth them, them,
he knows them that are his. And he gives unto them eternal
life, and they shall never perish. He knows his sheep. His church,
His redeemed, His special jewels, His treasure. He knows His sheep
in a special way with an intimate love, with an eternal knowledge
of them. He has always known them. He
said to some who claim great religious deeds and great religious
works, it's recorded in Matthew 7. He says to them, depart from
me, you workers of iniquity. I never knew you. I never loved you. But he loves
his own with an everlasting love you see what he says. They're
my sheep hear my voice I love them. I love them and they follow
me always follow me they look unto me the Good Shepherd of
the sheep verse 28 and I Give unto them eternal life now. Here's
the reason that they hear his voice. Here's the reason that
they're in love with him here is a reason that they follow
him and And here's the reason that the fruit of His love, He
says, I give unto them, somebody certain in particular, I give
unto them eternal life. Eternal life. He says, I give
unto them. Now this is not talking about
giving eternal life to all men everywhere without exception.
Now hold your place there and find Hebrews 2. Hebrews chapter
2. He's not the great and faithful
high priest for all men everywhere. He says, I give them, I love
them, and I give them eternal life. I know them, I love them,
and I give them eternal life. Hebrews 2, 17. Wherefore in all
things it behooved him to be made like unto his brethren,
that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things
pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of The same people,
the people, atonement for the sin of the people. Call his name
Jesus, he shall save his people from their sin. He gives unto
them eternal life and they shall never perish. Now, let's look
at this carefully. He gives eternal life, which
is spiritual life, which is salvation. Now notice this, first of all.
He says, I give. It's not that they merit. It's
not that they earn. It's not that they deserve. He says, I give them eternal
life. Salvation is a gift. It's a gift. I give them eternal
life. Salvation, as it's taught in
the word of God, is a gift. It's a free gift. It's a sovereign
gift. It's an unspeakable gift. Thanks
be to God for His unspeakable gift. The gift of salvation is
Christ Himself. The wages of sin is death, but
the gift of God is eternal life. The free gift of His grace. He gives salvation freely. Freely by His grace. Salvation
and redemption. All spiritual blessings, therefore,
are not earned They're gifts. Faith is a gift of God. Repentance
is a gift of God. Salvation is not earned, is it? It's not merited, is it? Certainly
it's not something we deserve. We deserve condemnation, not
salvation. It's a sovereign gift of God
to bestow on whom He will have mercy. It's not by works of righteousness
which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us. It's not of Him that willeth,
nor of Him that runneth, but it's God that shows mercy. The Lord Jesus Christ gives unto
His people, those for whom He purchased their eternal redemption,
He gives them eternal life. It's a gift of God. the gift
of God. He gives them spiritual life. He gives us the very life of
God. In the new birth He gives us
the very nature of God. Believers are made partakers
of a divine nature. Now if you've got 2nd Peter there,
turn to 2nd Peter where we read earlier in 2nd Peter chapter
1. 2nd Peter chapter 1. In the new birth He gives us
eternal life, spiritual life. We are partakers of a divine
nature according to His power. This is 2 Peter 1 chapter 1 verse
3. According as His divine power
hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness
through the knowledge of Him that called us to glory and virtue
whereby are given unto us. Now again, salvation is a gift
and it's by His divine power. He's given us all things whereby
are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises, that by
these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped
the corruption that is in the world through lust." If any man
be in Christ, he's a new creature. If any man be in Christ. He didn't
say if any man be in religion, in the church. No, if any man
be in Christ, he's a new creature. Old things are passed away. Behold,
all things have become new. You see, in salvation, it's not
just a mere reformation. Salvation and this eternal life
that he gives us is a resurrection. is a resurrection from the dead.
He raises us from the dead. We were dead in trespasses and
in sin, dead in sin, and the Lord by His divine power raises
us from the dead and gives us spiritual life. Makes us new
creatures in Christ. And this is the total work of
God alone. He gives us salvation. Turn to John 17 one more time.
John 17. Verse two and three, as thou
has given him power over all flesh, that he should give, here's
this eternal life, to as many as the Father hath given to him. That's the sheep of Christ. And
this is life eternal, that they might know thee, the only true
God, Jesus Christ, whom he has sent. He's the only God, our
Savior. He raises us from the dead. Believers
are born again from above. The flesh profiteth nothing,
it is the Spirit that quickeneth. Our Lord said to Nicodemus, you
must be born again. Unless you're born again, you
cannot see the kingdom of God. You cannot understand the spiritual
things of God. Neither can you enter into the
kingdom of God. This new birth is not an option. It's an absolute necessity. And
He gives us eternal life. a spiritual life, a divine nature,
a resurrection from the dead. Believers are begotten of God
with that incorruptible seed, the Word of God, the Word of
Truth. And we pass, turn back to John
chapter 5. You see, this is all the gift
of God, the giving of God, the doing of God, the will of God.
Salvation is by His will. Of His own will begat He us. with the Word of Truth. John
5, 24, Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my
word, and believeth on him that sent me, has, right now, has
everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation, shall
not perish, but is passed from death at us by nature, and Adam
all died. unto life Christ he is the Savior
he is salvation now back to the text my sheep hear my voice I
love them they follow me I give them spiritual and eternal life
divine life raises us from the dead and then he says of the
sheep that they shall never perish Never, never, never, never. They shall never perish. The
Lord is long-suffering to usward, not willing that any should perish,
but all should come to repentance and faith, repentance toward
God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The sheep shall never
perish because the good shepherd, what kind of shepherd would he
be if he could lose some of his sheep? What would it say if his
blood atonement If he didn't take all to glory for whom he
died, if some could perish, what would it say of his atonement?
What would it say of his love? What would it say of his grace?
Well, it failed. You see, he cannot fail. The
sheep of Christ can never perish. Now it does not say the sheep
shall never sin. He doesn't say that. We're sinners.
We're sinners saved by God's grace. I like what Brother Mahan
used to teach us. Never graduate above being a
sinner saved by grace. I am what I am by the grace of
God. It does not say the sheep shall never sin. David certainly
did and yet the Lord said, I put away your sin. Abraham certainly
did. He lied not once but twice about
his wife. And yet God said, he's one of
mine, he's the sheep, one for whom I died. Peter not once but
three times denied the Lord. But the Lord said of him, I pray
for you that your faith fail not. You're one of my sheep and
you'll never perish. Though it does not say that we
shall never sin, we do. But the blessed hope of the gospel
is that the Lord Jesus Christ put away our sin. It does not
say that the sheep shall never have doubts and fears. All of
us do, including this preacher. It does not say the sheep shall
never stumble or fall. But it does say, the sheep of
the Lord Jesus Christ shall never perish. Never, no, never. Now this is the teaching of Scripture.
We've seen this over and over again. Let's turn back to John
chapter 6. John chapter 6. My sheep, those for whom He chose,
those for whom He died, those for whom He called, those for
whom He loves, those for whom He gives eternal life, how can
they perish? They can't. They're one with
Christ, they're united to Him. John 6, look at verse 37. All
that the Father giveth me shall come to me, and him that cometh
to me I will in no wise never, never cast them out. For I came
down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him
that sent me. And this is the Father's will which has sent
me, that all which he had given me I should lose nothing, but
raise it up again at the last day. Not one sheep of Christ
can perish. And this is the will of him that
sent me, that every one who seeth the Son, and believeth on him,
may have everlasting life, and I'll raise him up at the last
day." The sheep of Christ can never, never perish. In 1 Peter 1.5 it says we're
kept by the power of God. through faith unto everlasting
salvation. In the book of Jude it says that
the Lord is able to keep us from falling and to present us faultless
before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy. He's able
to save us to the uttermost and then can He keep us? Absolutely. Absolutely. He keeps us with
an everlasting salvation. You see, we're one with Him. Back to John 17 again. We're
one with Him. We can never perish. Believers
are vitally united to the Lord Jesus Christ. They are one with
Him. Look at verse 11 of John 17.
Now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world. I
come to thee, Holy Father, keep through thine own name those
whom thou hast given me, that they may be one as we are one. But down to verse 21 of John
17, that they all may be one, as thou, Father, art in me, and
I in thee, that they also may be one in us, that the world
may believe that thou hast sent me. That's what we call the vital
living union with the Lord Jesus Christ. And the glory which thou
gavest me, I've given them, that they may be one, even as we are
one. I in them, John 17, 23, and thou
in me, that they may be made perfect and one in Christ, that
the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved
them as thou hast loved me. Oh, I tell you, that's so encouraging,
isn't it? I give them eternal life, and
they shall never perish. Now look back to the text again. They shall never perish, neither
Neither can this happen. No man, nothing, can pluck them
out of my hand. No man can pluck them out of
my hand. No man. That includes no demon,
no devils, no one. Not anything. Not a false preacher. Not a false church can separate
us from the love of God, which is in the Lord Jesus Christ.
No one, nothing can remove us from his hand. Turn to Colossians
chapter three. Colossians chapter three. Nothing
can separate us from the love of God, which is in the Lord
Jesus Christ. No man can pluck him out of,
now listen to what he says here, out of my hand. out of my hand. My hand. Now what kind of hand
does he have? His hands are strong. Look what it says here in Colossians
chapter 3. He says, If you then be risen with Christ, verse 1,
seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right
hand of God. Set your affection, your heart
on things above, not on the things of the earth, for you are dead
Dead to the law, crucified with Christ, and your life, the life
He gives is hid with Christ in God. Our life is hid with Christ
in our blessed Lord. We're in His hand. You remember
from our study through the book of Psalms, Psalm 95 said, He
is our God, we are the people of His pasture, and we are the
sheep of His hand. The sheep of His hand. The elect
of God were put in the hand of Christ. Now listen to this. The
elect of God, when were they put in the hand of Christ? The
elect of God were in the hand of Christ as His possession,
as the possession of Christ, before they ever fell in Adam. They were in the hand of Christ.
You see, He saves us with an eternal salvation. It goes that
way and that way. We are eternally justified in
the Lord Jesus Christ. The elect of God were put in
the hand of Christ at His possession before we fell in Adam. We are
bound to give thanks to God for you, brethren, beloved of the
Lord, because He hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation
through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth,
whereunto He called you by our gospel." Now His hands, if we
talk about His hands, now They're not talking about my hands. You
can pluck anything out of my hand if you're stronger than
I am. But His hands are mighty, strong, and powerful. As a matter
of fact, it says in Daniel chapter 4 that no one can stay His hand
or stop His hand. His hands are generous hands. He provides all things for us
in salvation according to His riches in glory through Christ
Jesus. His hands are strong hands. His hands are generous hands. Of His fullness have we received
all things. His hands are directing hands. What does His hands direct us
unto? You ever watch those traffic
cops? They give you directions where
to go, don't they? They say, this way the Lord Jesus
Christ his hand direct us not to the law Not to the church,
not to tradition, not to the pool, not to anything. His hands,
he said, come unto me. Oh, you that labor. His hands
direct us to himself, the Lord Jesus Christ. Think about this.
His hands were nailed to the cross, bearing our sin, bearing
our guilt, bearing our shame. He bear our sin in his own body
on the tree. His hands. salvation is in his
hand. No man can pluck them out of
my hand." I remember a long time ago, this was 25-30 years ago,
I was talking to a young man who said he was a
preacher of some sort, and he started telling me about salvation
conditioned upon this, conditioned upon the man doing this, and
the man doing that, and the sinner doing this, and I said, now wait
a minute. That's not what I read in the Word of God, especially
in John chapter 10. He said, I said to him that the
Lord gives his sheep eternal life, and they shall never perish,
neither can any man pluck them out of my hand. He said, well,
That doesn't mean that I can't pluck myself out of his hand.
And I said, come on, what kind of ridiculous argument is that?
No man can pluck him out of his hand. Now, if language means
anything, you've got what meaning of what that says. No man can
pluck him out of my hand. They shall never perish. Furthermore,
he said, verse 29, my father. Now, if you need more convincing,
my father. My Father. He's my Father too. He's God our Father. My Father
is greater than all. That's what He's saying. God
our Father. God Almighty is greater than
all. And no man can pluck Him out of His hand. No one can pluck the sheep of
Christ out of the hand of the Savior. But He gives us this
double security. Our life is hid, as I read a
moment ago, our life is hid with Christ in God. Now, no man can
pluck them out of the Father's hand. I and my Father are one.
What a double security the believer has in Christ. A double blessing
we have in the Lord Jesus Christ. God the Father is greater than
all. Nothing can change His eternal purpose. The eternal purpose
which He purposed in Christ Jesus. He works all things after the
counsel of His own will and purpose. God is greater than all. God,
small g. greater than all the idols of
men, greater than all beings, greater than all creatures falling
and otherwise, greater than all angels, good or evil, greater
than all men, greater than all the enemies, all people together,
there is none greater than our God. Greater than I can even
begin to explain. You remember from Isaiah 45,
our Lord said, I am the Lord, there is none else. There is
no God beside me. Our God is greater than all. And he loves his sheep. He gives
them salvation. He's greater than all. Now do
you think for a moment that he can, that God saves and then
we're lost? Not if you understand what salvation
is. Salvation that He gives is eternal. God is greater than
all. Now watch this, and this will be a blessing to you. I've studied this scripture,
I don't know how many times, and I've never seen this before.
Verse 29, My Father which gave them, and I know that word there
has been supplied, My Father which gave them, My Father gave
them Me. My Father gave them Me. Me. Salvation, as I said for
years and years and years, salvation is in a person. The Lord Jesus
Christ is salvation. Salvation is in a person. My
Father gave them Me. Now if you have Him, you have
everything. Salvation is in a person, not
in a position, not in a profession, not in a pool, not in a program. Salvation is in a person. The
Lord Jesus Christ. Now we know the elect of God
are sovereignly chosen and given to the Lord Jesus Christ. We
read that a moment ago. The elect are unconditionally
chosen in that eternal covenant of grace and given to the Lord
Jesus Christ. Now that's so. But what does
God Almighty give unto the elect? Christ, the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ is what
He gives us. The sheep of Christ, the church,
they are given the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ
is given unto us. That's why it says that He loved
the church and gave Himself for it. That's why it said that He
bought us with His own blood. You see, Christ in you is a hope
of glory. He has given us Christ. Turn
back to John, I want you to turn rather to 2 Corinthians chapter
5. 2 Corinthians chapter 5. Now this phrase here, my Father
which gave them me, salvation is in Christ Jesus. It's in being
in Christ. 2 Corinthians chapter 5, look
at verse 17. I quote this verse all the time,
but I want you to see it. Therefore if any man be, and
underscore these words if you have a pencil or pen, therefore
if any man be in Christ, those two words, in Christ, he is a
new creation. Old things are passed away, behold
all things are become new and all things are of God. But of Him are you in Christ
Jesus, who of God is made unto us all that we need, wisdom,
sanctification, redemption, and all blessings, righteousness
in Him. Everything God has for the sinner
is in Christ. My Father gave them me. He's salvation. He is God Almighty
has given us the Lord Jesus Christ. Christ in you, is what? The hope of glory. The hope of
glory. In Him dwells all the fullness
of the Godhead bodily and in Him, in Christ, we stand complete. The grand design of redemption
is the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. Everything in salvation
revolves around that blessed person and in Him. In Him. I looked this phrase up. In the
New Testament there are at least 77 references to IN Christ. 77 times this phrase we read
in Scripture in the New Testament, not counting the old. We read
this statement IN Christ. IN Christ. If any man be IN Christ. Now I've jotted down 7 references. We won't turn and read to 77.
And we won't turn and read these seven either, but let me just
see if I can quote them to you. If I can't, I will turn to them.
These seven blessings that are given unto us in Christ Jesus,
in Christ Jesus. Redemption. Redemption. We're not redeemed by the corruptible
things, are we? But with the precious blood of
Christ. being justified freely by His grace through the redemption
that is in Christ Jesus. You see, it's in whom we have
redemption. So redemption is in Christ Jesus. And that means a total deliverance
from sin is in Christ Jesus. He has given us redemption because
He's given unto us the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the Redeemer. Secondly,
there's no condemnation. In Romans chapter 8 verse 1,
there is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. There's no condemnation. We've
been justified by His grace. Justified. Thirdly, God's love,
where is it? Christ nothing can separate us
from the love of God it says in Romans 839 nothing can separate
us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus the love of
God sovereign electing love is in Christ Jesus you see he has
given us this love he has loved us in Christ No wonder the Apostle
Paul said, oh, that I may win Christ and be found in Him. In Him. Sanctification. Sanctification. Holiness. Where's that found? Well, you
know, preacher, I don't smoke, I don't drink, I don't do this,
I don't do that, I don't do all these other things, and man,
I'm living above sin. You liar. You're a liar. Our sanctification is in Christ
Jesus. Now let's see if we can turn
and find that. 1 Corinthians chapter 1. I want you to see
this. He is our sanctification. Believers
are not progressively sanctified. He is our sanctification. He
has given us sanctification. Christ is our holiness. The scriptures
teach without holiness no man shall see the Lord. Would you
dare stand before God based upon your morality? Absolutely not. But I dare stand before God being
sanctified in Christ Jesus. Matter of fact, He is my holiness.
First Corinthians chapter 1 verse 1, Paul called to be an apostle
of Jesus Christ through the will of God, Sosthenes our brother,
unto the church of God which is at Corinth to them that are
sanctified in Christ Jesus. Underscore it. We're sanctified
in Christ Jesus. He is my sanctification. And
we're called saints. The reason we're called saints
is because we're sanctified. Christ Jesus you see our sanctification
is in Christ now you have first Corinthians right there handy
find find chapter 15 first Corinthians 15 you see the father had given
them me he's given us all spiritual blessing
in the heavenly in Christ Jesus Ephesians 1 verse 3 salvation
is in Christ Look what it says in verse 22, 1 Corinthians 15,
22. Let's read verse 21 as well. For since by man came death,
by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all
died, even so in Christ shall all be made alive." Who has spiritual
life? Who shall never perish? Those
who are in Christ Jesus. They have salvation, eternal
salvation. All righteousness is found where? It's found where? In Christ. He is the Lord, our righteousness. That's why the Apostle said,
oh, that I may win Christ and be found in Him. Not having my
own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through
the faith of Christ. And believers are victorious,
guess where? In Christ Jesus. Thanks being
to God, who always causes us to triumph, Triumph in Christ
Jesus. Thanks be to God who has given
us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. My Father which
gave them me. Now get a hold of that statement
there. It'll bless you. Now you just think about it.
my sheep, hear my voice, I know them, they follow me, I give
unto them eternal life, they shall never perish, no man can
pluck them out of my hand, my father, my father gave them me."
Wow! The jewel of heaven, the beloved
son, the father said, this is my beloved son in whom I'm well
pleased, hear him, where one With Him, in Him, my Father gave
them me. Every believer standing in Christ
Jesus, God Almighty says of Him, this is my beloved Son in whom
I am well pleased. My Father gave them me. And I, we'll pick up here next
week at verse 30, I and my Father, we're one. Now can you separate the Father
from the Son? They're one. Can you separate
the believer from the Good Shepherd? No, they're one. They're one. This union cannot be dissolved. Cannot be dissolved.
