If you have your Bible, please
turn with me to Deuteronomy chapter 29. I'm going to read the entire
chapter. Deuteronomy 29. These are the words of the covenant
which the Lord commanded Moses to make with the children of
Israel in the land of Moab beside the covenant which he made with
them in Horeb. And Moses called unto all Israel,
and said unto them, Ye have seen all that the Lord did before
your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh, and all his servants,
and all his land, the great temptations which thine eyes have seen, the
signs, and those great miracles. Yet the Lord hath not given you
in heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear unto
this day. And I have led you forty years
in the wilderness, your clothes were not waxen old upon you,
and thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot. You have not eaten
bread, neither have you drunk wine, nor strong drink, that
you might know that I am the Lord your God. And when you came into this place,
Sihon the king of Heshbon and Og the king of Bashan came out
against us into battle, and we smoked them And we took their
land and gave it for an inheritance unto the Reubenites, and to the
Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh. Keep therefore the
words of this covenant, and do them that ye may prosper in all
that ye do. Ye stand this day, all of you,
before the Lord your God, your captains, and your tribes, your
elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israel, your little
ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in the camp. from the
hewer of the wood, and the drawer of the water, that thou shouldest
enter into the covenant with the Lord thy God, and into his
oath, which the Lord thy God maketh with thee this day, that
he may establish thee today for a people unto himself, and that
he may be unto thee a God, as he hath said unto thee, And he
is sworn by thy fathers to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. Neither
with you only do I make this covenant and this oath, but with
him that standeth here with us this day before the Lord our
God, and also with him that is not here with us this day. For
ye know how we have dwelt in the land of Egypt, and how we
came through the nations which ye passed by. Ye have seen their
abominations, and their idols, and the wood, and stone, and
silver, and gold, which are among them. lest there should be any
man among you, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth
away this day from the Lord our God, to go and serve the gods
of these nations, lest there should be among you a root that
beareth all gall and wormwood. And it come to pass, when he
heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his
heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination
of mine heart, to add drunkenness to thirst. The Lord will not
spare him, Then the anger of the Lord and his jealousy shall
smoke against that man and all the curses that are written in
this book shall lie upon him. And the Lord shall blot out his
name from under heaven. And the Lord shall separate him
unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel according to all the
curses of this covenant that are written in this book of the
law. So that the generation to come of your children that shall
rise up after you and the stranger that shall come from a far land,
and shall say when they see the plagues of that land, and the
sickness which the Lord hath laid upon it, and that the whole
land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is
not sown, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of
Sodom and Gomorrah, Adam and Zeboim, which the Lord overthrew
in His anger, and in His wrath. Even all nations shall say, Wherefore
hath the Lord done this unto this land? What meaneth the heat
of this great anger? Then men shall say, Because they
have forsaken the covenant of the Lord God of their fathers,
which he made with them, when he brought them forth out of
the land of Egypt. For they went and served other
gods, and worshipped them, gods with whom they knew not, and
whom they had not given to them. And the anger of the Lord was
kindled against this land, and to bring it bring upon it all
curses that are written in this book. And the Lord rooted them
out of their land in anger and in wrath and great indignation
and cast them into another land as it is this day. The secret
things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are
revealed belong to us and to our children forever. That we
may do all the words of this law. Let us pray. Our Father,
It is with great joy that we are able to approach
into your presence to speak to you from our heart this hour.
We pray your help, Father, for this people. Pray your help for
your people, for those whom you've chosen from the foundation of
the world. We also pray help for those who know thee not.
We ask, Lord, that you would be with those who are out there
helping folks who are sick. Pray for the governments, both
national and local and tribal, should be with them as they make
decisions that affect everyone whom they govern. We ask, Lord,
you would help us this hour as we consider your word to give
us peace and confidence in Jesus Christ our Lord. Let us know
that you have shown us what we need to know and what we must
know in order to be in a right standing with Thee. We thank
you that you did not leave us to ourselves, for we would have
pleased ourselves. We would have given peace to
ourselves, spoken peace to ourselves, in the imagination of our own
heart, had you not intervened, interrupted our career, and stopped
us in our path. We pray this, I, that You would
give peace to Your children, that You would give them assurance
in Jesus Christ. We pray, Father, as we look at
this passage of Scripture, that You would give us a sense of
who You are, that we might truly worship You in spirit and in
truth. We pray in Christ's name. Amen. Now this chapter is a very
revealing passage of Scripture. As you know, it's in Deuteronomy,
which was the which means the second law. The first law given
at Sinai, the very first given in the Garden of Eden, when the
Lord told Adam, in the day you eat of this fruit you shall surely
die. The second law, which is called the first covenant, was
given at Sinai. Now as the children of God begin
to approach unto the promised land, we have a second set of
laws which reflect the laws of grace or the workings of grace
but also the curses that attend those who disobey the gospel
of the Lord Jesus Christ and have no care for Christ and rather
speak peace to their own heart. This speaks to another covenant
other than the one given at Sinai. It was a reiteration of the principle
handed down at Sinai but spoke of the times of the Messiah when
the true Israel The Israel of God, as it is spoken of in Galatians
chapter 6, which is the Church of God, would be revealed and
it would be made up not only of the Jews but also of the Gentiles,
here called the stranger that is among us and those who stand
with us, in verses 10 through 15. And in this covenant that
will be realized in the salvation of the elect and their possession
of the promised land, Emmanuel land, there are secrets revealed
that are made known only in the declaration of the gospel of
God's grace. In this passage is the remarkable
account of the dissolution of the nation Israel. In verses
20 through 28 we just read the curses upon them. And in that
light of the revelation of the gathering of true Israel we read
in verses 10 through 15. And the reason for this dissolution
of national Israel is uniquely described and revealed in the
fact that no one is saved and no sin remitted under the old
covenant. For by the blood of bulls and goats no sin is forgiven. This is seen in the description
of one who does not obey the covenant. How does one disobey
the covenant? He speaks peace to his own heart,
as is spoken of in verses 18 and 19. This is a very telling
description and is illuminated by our Lord in the words employed
in this chapter. Though this character is clearly
an idolater, he still retains some modicum of worship of the
true God, And this gives him a sense of peace. He hears of
the curses declared for those who serve other gods, yet is
not afraid of them. He is at peace and comfortable
in the lie that is his life. What could bring a person to
such a place? Only one thing could make a person
take peace in falsehood. In all his idolatry, he still
practices keeping some of the restrictions of the law. He does
not bow to Christ, but maintains a front of religious activity.
And because he does not commit murder or covet his neighbor
property and such, he feels safe and secure in his idolatry. He applies to the covenant sign
and finds consolation in believing that he has kept that which was
designed only to reveal his sin. This is indeed a strong delusion,
but is one that prevails in the religious heart of natural men.
By adjusting behavior to appear holy to men, a man can conclude
that he is righteous and therefore at peace, and live a life without
fear. Such a person is described in
the book of Isaiah, in Isaiah chapter 28. We read these words,
our Lord says, to whom shall he teach knowledge, and to whom
shall he make understand doctrine? only them that are weaned from
the milk and drawn from the breast. For precept must be upon precept,
precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a
little and there a little. For with stammering lips and
another tongue will I speak to this people, to whom he said,
this is the rest, wherein you may cause the weary to rest.
And this is the refreshing that they, but they would not hear.
But the word of the Lord was unto them, precept upon precept,
precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a
little and there a little, that they might go and fall backwards,
and be broken, and snared, and taken. Wherefore, hear the word
of the Lord, ye scornful men that rule this people, which
is in Jerusalem. Because ye have said, we have
made a covenant with death, And with hell we are at agreement.
When the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall
not come to us, for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood
have we hid ourselves. Therefore, thus saith the Lord
God, behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation, a stone, a tried
stone, a precious stone, a sure foundation, and he that believeth
shall not make haste. These words describe the peaceful
infidel, and they are bookended by the gospel of the Lord Jesus
Christ, speaking of that great peace that passeth knowledge,
that sweet truth that brings refreshing, and also the rock,
the stone laid in Zion, which is the Lord Jesus Christ. It
is clear that the man walking in the imagination of his own
heart is trapped by the very words that are the balm and gilead
to the elect. This is a marvel of this word.
The same sun that melts the ice hardens the clay. Scripture declares
that it is the glory of God to conceal a matter. It says it
is His glory to conceal a matter. that the natural man receiveth
not the things of the Spirit. Our Lord said in the past we
read in Deuteronomy, He did not give them ears to hear, did not
give them eyes to see, nor give them a mind to perceive. This
is the Lord's doing and it is marvelous in our eyes. Scripture
says the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit,
they're foolishness to him, neither can he know them nor discern
them. Scripture says that God has hid these things from the
wise and the prudent. In fact, Christ thanked God for
doing that. I thank the old Father, Lord
of heaven and earth, for thou hast hid these things from the
wise and prudent and revealed them unto babes. He said also
to his children, when they said, why do you speak to us in parables?
He said to his people, because it's given to you to know the
mysteries of the kingdom, but not unto them, speaking of the
Pharisees and religious men. Scripture says that Satan has
blinded men's eyes that they believe not the gospel in 2 Corinthians. He said, some men believe not
because Christ told them the truth. Christ said that to the
Pharisees himself. He said, you believe me not because
I tell you the truth. That is because they received
not the love of the truth that they might be saved according
to 2 Thessalonians. God has sent them strong delusion
that they would believe a lie. God did that. God says I've sent
you a delusion and you're going to believe a lie. This delusion
will cause you to believe a lie. Whatever men might believe about
their state in the imagination of their hearts before God, The
fact is that revelation belongs to God and Him alone, and if
He does not reveal the Gospel to a person, it is His business
not to do so. For our Lord said, ìNo man knoweth
the Father but the Son, no man knoweth the Son but the Father,
and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal Him.î All we can
do is thank God that He has revealed His Son in us. If He has, it
is purely the act of His sovereign grace, because it is His glory
not only to save your soul, it is His glory not only to reveal
His gospel to men, it is His glory not only to give men eyes
to see and ears to hear, it is also His glory to conceal a thing. This is the work of the Father.
That person described as being at peace in the imagination of
his heart, having heard the word yet pursuing his comforts in
the wood and stone embrace of false deities, does so because
the truth has been concealed from him. To him, the truth is
a secret that he will never know. And while in the false peace
that envelops his heart, he will be destroyed by the deluge of
the overflowing scourge that is barreling toward him in time. What would bring a man to this
horrific state? What would be in the mind and
in the imagination of the heart that would cause a man to rest
in falsehood? We have but to recall our own
estate before we heard the truth with ears of God-given faith. Was there not a time when we
were at peace in falsehood, in false religion? Did we not in
the imagination of our hearts believe that because we were
not like other men, that we were decent people, that when the
dust cleared we would squeeze somehow into heaven? What brought
about that delusion? We saw the acts of God. We heard
of His might and power. We were acquainted with the precepts
of the law. And since we were not in the
penitentiary, we felt at peace with God. Those moments when
that peace was threatened, we simply redoubled our efforts,
re-consecrated, re-dedicated our efforts at religion until
we came back to the place of calm assurance that we were doing
more than what was required of us. Living in this delusion of
adequacy and miasma of mediocrity, we spoke peace to our own hearts
because we could see in our lives ample evidence that we were indeed
the children of God. We saw the acts of God but we
didn't see the ways of God as it says in Psalm 107 verse 3. This chapter is about the grace
of revelation, that's how it ends. This chapter is about the
gift of spiritual perception, the gift of sight, the gift of
hearing. This chapter is about the secret
of God kept back from some and revealed to others. This chapter
is about seeing and yet not seeing. and about seeing what cannot
be seen. This chapter is the revelation
of my salvation and is light from on high. Now without any
preconceived ideas I want us to consider this chapter in light
of three declarations that our Lord makes here. Verses two through
four it says this, And Moses called unto the children
of Israel and said, Ye have seen all that the Lord hath did before
your eyes in the land of Egypt, and to Pharaoh, and to all his
servants, and to all his land. The great temptations with thine
eyes have seen the signs and miracles. Yet the Lord hath not
given you in heart to perceive, eyes to see, and ears to hear
unto this day. Then in verses 18 and 19 he says
this, Lest there should be any among
you, man or woman, or family or tribe, whose heart turneth
away this day from the Lord our God, to go and serve the gods
of these nations. Lest there be among you a root
that beareth all gall and wormwood, and it come to pass, when he
hearest these words of the curse, that he bless himself in his
heart, saying, I have peace, though I walk in the imagination
of my heart to add drunkenness. to thirst. And then in verse
29, He says, "...the secret things belong unto the Lord our God,
but those things which are revealed belong to us and our children
forever, that we may do all the words of this law." In these
verses, there are those who see and yet do not see. There are
those who believe they see and have a false peace. And there
are those who have God's secrets revealed to them. Verse 29 defines
verses 2 and 4 and verses 18 and 19. Verse 29 has often been
called the Believer's Fifth Amendment, used to account for the unexplainable
aspect of God, especially as it relates to His often strange
and wonderful doings. For we know that all things are
for God, by God, and unto God. I've often employed this verse
to account for my own ignorance, which is large. It serves well in this capacity,
but does not serve the context. This is not an isolated statement. This is the definition of what
has previously been declared To see this we have but to consider
why the people in verses 2 and 4 who are not given eyes to see
and the people in verses 18 and 19 who have given themselves
peace according to the imagination of their heart, they see but
they do not see. They do not see because God has
concealed the truth from them. It is His secret and the secret
things belong to Him. The secret things that belong
to God is not a generic phrase referring to unsearchable nature
attributes and providential doings of God, but really refers to
the fact that they that do these things do not truly see, because
God has secreted the truth from them. The secret things that
belong to God is the gospel, you see. That's the secret things. over in Revelation chapter 5,
when our Lord was found worthy to open the book and loose the
seals thereof. Men didn't know what that book
was. Well, that book was the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ,
and it is He alone that reveals what the gospel is. What the
gospel is, a secret, bears that out in spades. The Lord reveals
the Scripture to whom He will. over and over again. Our Lord
said to the Pharisees, you know, if you saw, or if you were blind, then you
would see. Because you say you see, you're actually blind. You're actually blind. Why are
these hearing and yet not hearing? Seeing and yet not seeing? The
fact is simple. We've already quoted numerous
scriptures saying this, because the secret things belong to God.
They belong to God. Like one old preacher said, grab
your hat, we're getting ready to jump the creek. Notice in
our text, in verse 29, the use of italics. The words, things
belong, and things which are, and then the word belong are
added to this book. Now, when you see something in
italics, it was added by the translators to help us in understanding,
but they do not always serve to do so. I believe that such
is the case here. Without the italics, the verse
reads thus, the secret unto the Lord our God, but those revealed
to us and our children forever that we may do all the words
of this law. Well, what is revealed to us?
The elect, those who are chosen of God from the foundation of
the world due to nothing in or about themselves. What is revealed
to the future generations of God's people? The secret of God
is revealed. What God had concealed from some,
He has revealed to others. One might think I'm stretching
the meaning of this passage were it not precisely the teaching
of the Lord in the New Testament. The New Testament is replete
with this theme in resplendent redundancy. When our Lord spoke,
think of the numerous times He said, He that hath ears to hear,
let him hear. Unto His disciples He said, Blessed
are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear. You notice when our Lord says
such things that they are words of distinction, declaring that
seeing and hearing is by revelation. because the secret unto the Lord
our God, but those revealed unto us and to our children forever,
that we may do all the words of this law." Look at John chapter
8. In John chapter 8, our Lord is
speaking to some very religious folks who despise Him, who are in effect Supposedly
worshipers of God, but are actually idolaters. They don't love God.
The Lord has said that to them. They seek the honor of one another.
They seek to be patted on the back. And our Lord says this
in John 8.42. He says, If God were your Father. Now, that's
quite a statement. Now, He's talking to religious
men who say God is our Father. Abraham is our father. He said
to them, if you really are Abraham's children, you would love me because
Abraham saw my day and was glad. They say, God is our father.
We worship the true God. We worship Jehovah God. He said,
well, if God were your father, which is saying God is not your
father. It's that simple. if God were your father you would
love me for I proceeded forth and came forth from God neither
came I of myself but God sent me my father sent me he says
why do you not understand my speech now he's talking to them
and these aren't questions these are rhetorical questions which
have the answer he said you don't understand my speech and I'm
going to explain to you why you do not understand my speech why
don't you Understand my speech because you can't hear my words
Wait a minute. They're just listening to him
talking right now. Oh, but they can't hear because they their
ears are stopped up These things are concealed from them. You
cannot hear my word Ye are of your father the devil You say
your father's God But your father is really the devil. And the
lust of your father he will do. What was his lust? His lust was
to make people feel like they could do something and be like
God. That's what he promised Eve and
that's what he promises in your idea of works for righteousness. It's his work. The devil's not
out here making people go to the bars and the bordellos. All
he has to do is leave them alone to do that. He's making people
come to the church and sit on a pew with a Bible in their hand
and believe somehow that coming to church and sitting on a pew
with a Bible in their hand and praying and giving and all that
somehow makes those deeds meritorious to the place where they are accepted
by God because of what they do. And that simply is not the truth
in no way is it ever the truth. Why do you not understand my
speech? Because you cannot hear my words.
your father the devil, the lust of your father will do. He was
a murderer from the beginning and abode not in the truth, because
there's no truth in him. If there's no truth in your father,
there's no truth in you. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh
of his own, he speaketh for his own, and his own speak lies just
like he do, for he is a liar, and he's the father of it. So
you're a lie. Well, Scripture says man is a
lie, and he's lighter than vanity. He said, which of you convinced
me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do you believe me not? And
he says this in verse 47, here's the difference you see, the reason
you don't hear my words, if he that is of God, heareth God's
words, ye therefore hear them not, because you're not of God. You're not of God, that's pretty
clear isn't it? the secret of the Lord our God, but those,
the secret unto the Lord our God, but those revealed to us
and our children forever, that we may do all the works of the
law. In 1 Corinthians chapter 2, the same principle is set
forth. Paul sets it forth to the Corinthian church. 1 Corinthians chapter 2, he speaks
of this gospel as a hidden thing. as a hidden thing. He says in
verse 7, But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the
hidden wisdom, or the hidden, which God ordained before the
world for our glory. So God ordained this mystery,
this hidden thing, for the glory of His saints. He ordained that. He ordained
that. That word ordained is important
here. It's the second time the Greek word proerizo or predestinate
is used and it speaks of the revelation of the mystery of
the hidden wisdom for our glory. What is that wisdom? What is
that? That is God revealing His Word
to His people, to His people. In 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 In 2 Thessalonians chapter 2
verse 11 he says this, and for this cause God shall send them
strong delusion that they should believe a lie that they might
be damned. Going to send them strong delusion so they'll believe
a lie and then damn them for believing the lie for they believed
not the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. He said that
they all might be damned. But we are bound to give thanks
unto God, brethren, not unto you, not unto your smarts, not
unto your intellectual prowess and theology. We are bound to
give thanks unto God for you, brethren, beloved of the Lord,
because God hath from beginning chosen you to salvation through
sanctification of spirit and belief in the truth, whereunto
he called you by our gospel to the attaining of the glory of
the Lord Jesus Christ. which simply says this about
those whom he's given the delusion to believe a lie, he did not
call them by his gospel to the obtaining of the glory of the
Lord Jesus Christ. He's ordained the glory for his
children. Also note that back in 1 Corinthians
chapter 2, that though the mystery is hidden from the wisdom of
the world, the wisdom of the world, this is part of God's
wisdom. part of God's plan, part of God's
purpose, part of God's hidden agenda, if you will. In 1 Corinthians
chapter 2, and it says this in verse 21, for after that in the
wisdom of God, the world by wisdom, by its own wisdom, knew not God. It pleased God through the foolishness
of preaching to save them that believe. And we know the preaching
is the preaching of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. And
note this also, it was revealed unto us, the secret thing belonged
to God. The secret unto the Lord our
God, but those revealed unto us and our children. Who knows
is the title of this message. If you're a believer this morning,
you know. Spiritual man discerneth all
things. We've been given an unction from on high. We understand all
things. We have the mind of Christ, Scripture says. Revealed unto
us. Go back to chapter 2 of 1 Corinthians. Look at verses 9 through 13.
But it is written as it is written. Where was it written? Isaiah
chapter 64. I have not seen nor ear heard,
neither hath entered into the heart of man that thinks with
God as prepared for them that love him." Now a lot of people
view this as still some kind of mystery. And usually they
apply it to the glory of heaven. And they come up with all sorts
of things to talk about it. They say, watermelons are going
to be the size of Volkswagen's. They say we're going to have
a little cabin in the corner of Lowery. Trout will be the
size of Robey Dick. You know, foolish things like
that. And they talk about heaven being
just full of grass and beautiful. We don't know what the new heaven
and new earth is going to be like, but that's not what this
is talking about anyway. This is talking about that mystery
that was hidden, but ordained for our glory. I haven't seen
it. Natural eye has not seen it.
Natural ear has not heard of it. It's never entered into the
heart of man because the imagination of man's heart is about giving
himself peace. The things that God has prepared
for them that love Him. Now who loves God? Those whom
He loves. We love Him because He first
loved us. Because He first loved us. Those
whom He loves, or has loved, love Him. but verse 10 God hath revealed
them unto us revealed what unto us this mystery this hidden wisdom
that was ordained his sacred stuff It's what He's revealed unto
us. He revealed unto them by His Spirit. For the Spirit, having
given us the Spirit of God, having given us the paraclete to come
along with us in this world, to guide us and lead us in all
truth, not glorifying Himself, but glorifying Christ and taking
the things of Christ and reveal them unto us by His Spirit. For the Spirit searcheth all
things, yea, the deep things of God, the secret unto the Lord
our God, The deep things of God. He says He does it like, we understand
that as we understand our situation in the humanity. We understand
what it is to be a human being. For what man knoweth the things
of man, save the spirit of man which is in him. We understand
men because we are men. We understand humanity because
we are human beings. We know we are going to act a
certain way. in situations we understand that even so the things
of god knoweth no man save the spirit of god the spirit is like
the wind moves where it listeth and men don't know where it's
going and where it's coming from but they know this it's there
when it comes to meet with them because he gives them life Now,
we have not received the Spirit of the world, at least all the
children. We were born with the Spirit of the world, we were
born with the Spirit of man, and we still possess in our old
man the Spirit of man. But we've not received that from
God in the sense of salvation. But the Spirit which is of God,
we have the Spirit which is of God, that we might what? Know
the things that are freely given to us of God. freely given to us. This is the
secret revealed unto His people. Revealed unto His people. Our
Lord said that. He said, No man knoweth the Son,
but the Father. No man knoweth the Father, but
the Son. And he to whomsoever the Son will reveal Him. What
is revealed to God's children in His secret? What is revealed? Turn over to 2 Corinthians chapter
4. In 2 Corinthians chapter 4, verse
4 says this, verse 3 says, but if the gospel be hid, it be hid
from them that are lost, in whom the God of this world blinded
the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious
gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto
them. For we preach not ourselves,
but Jesus Christ the Lord, and ourselves your service for his
sake, for Jesus' sake, for God. This is how it happens. This
is how it happens. This is what is revealed. For
God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath
shined in our hearts. He's commanded the light to shine
in our hearts. To give the light of the knowledge
of the glory of God, where? singularly in the face of the
Lord Jesus Christ. Back in 1 Corinthians 2, verse
16, it's just as plain, I think I've already quoted it, but this
is it. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that we would
instruct him? We have the mind of Christ. Can it be more plain? How is it that those who have
been revealed the secret of God do all the works of this law?
By believing God. By believing God. That's how
it works. The secrets that belong to God
is the gospel. Always hid for ages. Shrouded
in mystery. Wrapped in conundrum. Like a
riddle. revealed in strange and wondrous
things, in animal skins, in a promise, the jawbone of an ass, all these
things spoke to us of the gospel. It was a secret and it remains
a secret today for those who are still under the law and still
believe that they have a righteousness before God and have spoke peace
to their hearts by the omission spoke each to themselves by the
imagination of their hearts, there's a veil hung over their
eyes, and they don't see. They don't see. The secret that
belongs to God is the gospel, and that's what's revealed unto
us. Ponder that. Consider. Meditate. Masticate. Chew the cut on this
glorious fact, the grace of this glorious fact. Are you a child
of God? You know the secret. You know the secret. Scripture
says the secret of the Lord is with them that fear Him, and
He will show them His covenant. Father, help us to see and rejoice
in what we see, because You have revealed it to us by Your grace. The secret things. The mystery,
the hidden, is open before us like a wonderful book. Thank
you, Father, in Christ's name, amen.
