All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. - John 6:37
Coming to Christ is not a decision that sinners make by the exercise of their so-called free will. It is only he who has been and is being called by God’s sovereign, discriminating, efficacious grace that comes to Him. It is an absolute absurdity to even think that man’s will is sovereign over God’s will.
Coming to Christ is believing upon him with a new heart as he is revealed in the Scriptures by the Spirit of God in regeneration. When Christ is revealed in the hear,t the sinner renounces all his righteousness, strength, ability and even himself. The elect of God come to Christ because they are loved and chosen of God, and because they are redeemed by the precious blood of Christ. They come because, in time, they heard the Word of truth (the Gospel of their salvation) and are given faith to believe on Him. Those to whom Christ is revealed continue to believe in him, and therefore will never perish because he will in no wise cast them out. The child of God is kept by the power of God through faith.
