How do we know God is for us?

Answered in 22 sources

We know God is for us because scripture affirms it through His unwavering love and the sacrifice of Christ, which justifies and intercedes for us.

God's commitment to us is illustrated profoundly in Romans 8:31, where Paul poses the rhetorical question, 'If God be for us, who can be against us?' The assurance that God is indeed for His elect is rooted in His sovereign purpose and love. This validates the believer's identity and relationship with God. God's act of delivering His Son for our sake is the ultimate affirmation that He is on our side. The continual intercession of Christ, who stands at the right hand of the Father, further affirms this truth; He defends us against any charges brought against us (Romans 8:33-34). Thus, knowing that we are justified and loved by God provides immeasurable confidence that nothing can ultimately prevail against us.
