How do we know that God's grace is essential for salvation?

Answered in 13 sources

The Bible teaches that salvation is by grace alone and not by works, emphasizing that our righteousness comes from faith in Christ.

In Romans 11:5, Paul speaks of a remnant chosen by grace, making it clear that grace is the only means through which we can attain salvation. This means that if salvation were based on works, it would no longer be grace, as Paul argues in the same passage. The sovereign grace of God is what enables sinful humanity to be reconciled with Him; hence, our understanding of salvation relies entirely on God's unmerited favor through Jesus Christ. As we grasp the depth of our sinfulness, we also see the immense grace available through faith, leading us to true worship and adoration.
