How do we know we are among the elect?

Answered in 15 sources

Indications of being among the elect come from a life characterized by sanctification and an evident faith in Christ (Romans 8:28-30).

To determine whether one is part of the elect, one must trace the changes in their life back to Scripture, especially focusing on their journey of sanctification. Romans 8:28-30 outlines the chain of salvation, starting from God's foreknowledge through to glorification, indicating that those who are elect will exhibit the fruits of the Spirit through progressive sanctification. The essence of being elect is not merely an initial profession of faith but an ongoing transformation and obedience that aligns with God's purpose. Those who are truly of the elect will have a sense of assurance that derives not from their faith alone, but from the evidence of a transformed life that showcases God's saving grace at work in them.
